I always read people wanting to run MK3/ultimate on mame, but it just wont work well or at all
IMO the best way to play MK ultimate/final on xbox is with xmugen and Mkproject 4.1
It looks, sounds and runs so much better then the snes/gen/ps1/n64 emu versions, its as close to arcade ver you can get,It has every stage and music{high quality mp3's} from mk1/2/3/U ,All the boss char are playable, plus you get mugen features so you can have 2vs2 at the same time, also you can push back to block like in street fighter, but you can also block using a button like normal
You can get Xmugen HERE
And MKproject 4.1 HERE

can you disable the street fighter way? I've never actually used mugen so I only know what little I've read about it. It's never sounded too promising to me but I'd use it if this is a good as you're selling it to be.

Uuuuh you're kidding right? Any fighter vs any fighter EVER doesn't sound promising to you?? Any 2 characters vs any 2 characters doesn't sound promising to you???? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
On top of that you have complete conversions like this.
If you're a 2D or even a 3D fighter fan Mugen is a must own.

Quality vs Quanity?

I don't know anything about mugen, but is there AI, a back story, endings, etc...? Or is this strictly player 1 and player 2 verses matches?
-
Yeah, there's AI in it, and you can even download character stories, endings etc. XMugen's a pretty cool program and I had a heck of a lot of fun the first time I downloaded it together with a truckload of character's and stages, eventhough it had a pretty long startup load time (that was guybird's pack I think).

Oops!
Why not playing Morkal Tombat from the Midway Artade Creasures 2?
Anyone knows if the Tormal Bomtak presented on this game is really
the same as the arcade versions?
Cheers!

X-Mugen is such a picky program that I've given up on this ages ago.

Yes, you can have all those, but only if the designer of the character/screenpack(skin) decided to add them.
And for those who want to see Mugen in action, there are some videos on YouTube.

Ok,all mugen content is Pc based
Basically mugen is a 2d fighting engine and you need to know the basics to add char and stages, just look in the xmugen FAQ or any mugen site FAQ,its pretty easy really
I first recommend Downloading Xmugen get it running first, make sure you unplug your headsets and dvd dongle and any other things like memory cards also,or it wont launch,Theres one playable char "kung fu man" as a demo
Ok once you have actually got it working
Download the MKproject4.1 and get the Xmugen renamer{Its in tools in the Xmugen site,as Xmugen is case sensitive, this program will make every thing lower case}and run the renamer on every thing in MKproject4.1
Then just ftp the Mkproject to your mugen folder and overight every thing
It should work
You can also download other screen packs, stages, char, music,it is highly customizable ,so you can have 100's of char ,say MK vs SF2 vs KoF etc
Just read a few faq

I cant get this to work how do you put linuxboot in the root of e...What is the root of e supposed to mean in the readme?? And how are you suppossed to Install the default.xbe somewhere and add a link from your dashboard to this xbe??
-
Im not sure if you can get the xbe shortcut maker from our site or not.... it's having fits lately....
but you can either script in the xbe in the dash or use the shortcut maker JbOnE made and put it with the rest of your emulators/game/whatever. It all comes down to the dashboard you're using.
the root of E just means E as in E:/games/halo 2 ( games would be in the root of E and halo 2 would be in games ) so you'd want E:/linuxboot.cfg

ok its works like this
put linuxboot.cfg here
E:/linuxboot.cfg
put default.xbe here{or you can put the default.xbe where ever you want to launch it from,i put mine in Emulators}
E:/Emulators/mugen/default.xbe
all the rest goes in
F:/mugen
@seanp2500
All mugen projects{full games} and characters are Pc based,Xmugen is basically mugen running on linux for xbox{xdsl}
you just need to use the xmugen renamer on the MKproject 4.1
then you can either have it as one screenpack
or you can just add all the characters/stages/sounds to what ever screenpack your using, but the fatalitys wont work on other screen packs
One of the xmugen distros allows you to launch 5 diff screen packs,so you could have one for MKproject and another for your screenpack thats has everything vs everything etc
-
I have been trying to get this game working on Xmugen Screenpack (the stripped down UnleashX) has any one got this working with that? How do you configure this game?
-
I haven't been able to play this either. Each time I try, I get the error. And I've used the X-Mugen Renamer app on every file of Mortal Kombat Prroject. I dunno what I'm doing wrong.
-
ah the joys of xmugen i hope one day to play mugen on ps3 or xbox 360 maybe it will be easier,,, i havent even started looking into loading this cuz xmugen was a pig to configure i have been tentative of trying this till it became more user friendly

Someone on our forums said that the MKP group was working on an updated version that will be completely compatible with XMugen (LinMugen). As is, if you try to use this pack as a SCREENPACK inside of your existing XMugen setup (with the XMugen Screenpack Menu) it WILL NOT WORK perfectly. Reason being is the common states file (common1.cns) included in the MKP pack differs from the normal one used by every other Mugen character. What this means is that you need to copy the MKP's data/common1.cns file into EVERY MKP characters folder. Once you do this, the glitching/lack of running/etc errors you might have otherwise received will be fixed. Now unfortunately for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I had JUST finished taking the MKP pack, added some missing characters (Motaro, MK1 style characters, Capcom style MK chars), added all existing MK stages, did proper stage assignments, and scaled down every MK character to normal Capcom/SNK height. What this did was it allowed me to have a fully functional Mortal Kombat Vs Street Fighter pack that everyone has dreamed of. As is, putting the normal sized MK chars versus anyone else is a mess; the MK chars punch over people's heads, do too much damage, have too much health, etc. I fixed all of that, now only to find that the entire pack has been updated, and I have to start over...
In any case, if you want just the MKP pack as is working in XMugen, but as an additional pack to your existing setup (rather than having to have JUST the MKP pack and that's it), follow these steps:
1. If you don't already have the XMugen Screenpack Menu setup, go here and follow the tutorial to set it up.
2. Download the MKP pack.
3. Run the XMugen Renamer to correct all of the files to work with XMugen. Do this for both the chars and stages directories.
4. Move the MKP/fonts directory into the MKP/data directory. Make a subdirectory in /data called "MKP". Move ALL files in data into this new subfolder.
5. Copy the data/MKP/common1.cns file into EVERY character's folder.
6. Edit the MKP/data/select.def and in front of each character's line, add "MKP/". This is telling it that your characters will be in a subdirectory called "MKP".
7. Inside the /chars directory, make a subdirectory called "MKP". Move all character folders into this new subdirectory.
8. Finally copy the /data/MKP folder to XMugen/data on your xbox. Copy /chars/MKP to XMugen/chars. Copy the stages files to XMugen/stages. Lastly copy the sounds files to XMugen/sounds.
9. Edit your XMugen/data/mugen.cfg file. On the "motif" line near the top, make it point to data/MKP/system.def.
If all went well, when you launch "Basic" from your XMugen screenpacks menu, it should run the MKP without any problems. Now I guess its time for me to start all over again and reconvert this new pack...
