The things left to do before a release:
1) Create missing gui features
2) Fix filters
3) Screen resize
4) Save/Load ini
5) SRAM
6) Readme.txt
7) Sound
8) Optimize
If some of these are not done or not done as complete as I would like, I may still release on Monday. However, sound is not one of them.
If sound is missing there will be a delayed release. The sound code is working but the data Zsnes returns is corrupted. I have no idea why. Hopefully, I will finish all features and release on Monday, but there is a chance that the release will be delayed.
Here is how it all runs:
Without Super 2xSai:
Nearly All games run 60/60 all of the time. Sometimes in some games the framerate might drop to 57,58,etc.. for a second, but it then goes back to 60. This happens with or without sound so it may be an issue with the emulation.
With Super 2xSai:
Most games still run 60/60. More drop into the 50's. Some drop very low at times. The spinning title screen on Super mario World 2 is 45 fps, but on a stage it is 60 fps.
Doom (no matter what settings) never stays at 60 (with super 2xSai it will drop under 20 fps). But it doesn't run that well in xSnes9x either.

if possible, can you add super eagle? i find it the best filter on zsnes. cheers, and good work on the port! is the source going to be open?
-
I have already added 2xSai, Super 2xSai, Super Eagle, and Interpolation as well as all Hardware (Point, Linear, etc...) filters.
-
Have you talked to pagefault and/or Xport at all for help with coding and optimization? I know pagefault already offered to help on a different board, specifically, and that might help you get the framerate up some and maybe fix the coding issues...

If you are so certain, then why don't you put some money on it. You Paypal $250 to someone we both agree on, and i will do the same. On Monday, if I don't release a working native port of Zsnes (with or without sound) the third party paypals the money to you. If I do he paypals it to me.

Progress/Release or not. Don't sink yourself to that level. It only adds to the fire.
Don't let poeple dictate your schedule. I personally think you would have been better off releasing unannounced to avoid these types of flame wars.
I say release at your own pace without further updates. A beta will be ready when it's ready.

Bah, just let them run there mouths. They'll see when you release.
I've talked to pagefault. He's played it. This is REAL.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to release until it's in a better state than it is. But for $250, I'd release tommorow. But that's besides the point, because it's not like he would take me up on this offer. It would be nice if he would though. This type of flaming is and was expected. I'm surprised I didn't get more.

So just in case anyone had doubts. This project is VERY real. pagefault (one of the core ZSNES developers) is the only beta tester. The version he has runs all games fullspeed (minus sound).
So everyone be patient. If you want to play a native port of Zsnes on the Xbox, you will get to very soon.

Not to mention, I've been lurking the ZSNES threads and have seen nes6502 talking to some of the devs and other members about help with porting. So if this is a hoax, it's one helluva elaborate hoax. But nonetheless, you seem to be the only one convinced that this is fake.

To my eyes Simple2x almost do adsolutely notting to the picture, the ones than he got are the best IMO. Also for me Linear filtering is awesome. Sorry for the english.
-
Well 2xsai and super eagle mostly blur the image.
The hardware filters are always nice to have tho.
I used eagle from time to time because it's sucessfull at rounding corners, but scale2x does a decent job whitout blurring.
of course in the best of worlds you'd want hq2x, but xbox handling it at 60fps is probly a pipe dream.
-
???
What the hell are you talking about?
AFAIK he hasn't posted any screenshots at all. At least not on this or the other Xbox-Scene thread.
Someone else did post some menu-only screenshots over a year ago wich nothing came out of. This isn't the same person at all tho.
Either way from now on you're just a troll in my mind. I suggest everyone else does the same.

The filters currently implemented smooth and distort the display to something that doesn't even nearly resemble a SNES. Some people like that, but for those of us who want an experience as close as possible to the original system they're just horrible. Simple2x is an essential in any Xbox emulator as far as I'm concerned.
CandieCorpse I think you should quit. The way things are now you're going to sound pretty stupid if this thing does get released next week. Your skepticism was understandable in the earlier thread when nothing was known about this. But now I'd say enough information has mounted up here and elsewhere to suggest this is probably very real indeed. If you still have doubts I'd suggest keeping them to yourself. In the event that it does turn out to be fake, you'll still get to say "I told u so!" if that's your thing.

The screenshot where on lantus website/forum, however they are no longer online.
Lantus site has been offline since like october 2005, so please explain.
Edit : now i know what they are babbling aboot, they are talking about this thread on the old lantus forum
where someone posted a pic of Zsnes running in linux on the xbox.
I dont really know what that has to do with this project though.

In any case, I'm am truely impressed with the speed that nes has picked up one and has run through this project. Not only that, he has the original developer helping him and beta testing, you can't ask for a better situation. If you keep this up nes, you'll be on Xport's level in no time!
I loved Zsnes as it was the first, and for the most part only Snes emulator I ever used. I never cared much for the gui interface though, but that might be remedied with this release. Now as you're progressing very quickly and close to a working release, I have to ask if you have spoken with Xport about either him allowing you to use his gui setup, or for him to put his gui on your source (I'm assuming the first option). I know that's a gray area, as you would understandably want just your name on it, and not being a "shadow" of Xport. I just think like most people, that having a standard gui layout across all of the emulators would be a great thing, even Snes9x has a similar gui in it athough not 100% the same. Obviously this is something to consider on down the road AFTER you have a good working version and have received the praise I'm sure you will no doubt deserve. I for one will be one of the first to play your emulator, unlike CandyPants while he's screaming "OMG ITS A HOAX!!!".

What did i do wrong? he misspelled "Great" so i googled for a pic of a man holding a grate.
I love all of you and i understand your skeptisism, afterall who could forget the great Half-Life on Xbox hoax of 2003..
As for me.. i'm just gonna sit back and see what happens.
Hopefully what happens will be a good Gui with cheatsearcher.

Here's an example of what 'simple2x' does. Let's say you're playing a side scroller like Mega Man and the background has a star lit sky, half-lit skyscrapers and a fence. When you have the filter enabled, the blurring created by the linear or anisotropic filter is reduced significantly. As a result of having a sharper image, the stars become brighter, the half-lit skyscrapers' windows become brighter, your character's eyes become more pronounced, text becomes easier to read, but the fence (and other contrasting background textures) will now shimmer in the background as a result of the sharpened image. To rectify this, Xport added the option to use 'soften display' alongside 'simple2x' in order to cut down on the shimmering. The result is arguably the best console-like image one can achieve from an Xbox emulator.
