Darn.  I believe 1964 runs SSB much faster than PJ64.  It also has less slowdowns.  Maybe next release...

lol... I renamed the new plugin to RiceDaedalus5.1.0.ini and replaced the one in the original Surreal64 folder, changed the PJ64 settings of SSB to the ones in the compatablity list (Vid Mem: 8, Dyna: 18, Paging: 2) and SSB seems to run pretty good, there's only slowdown for about the first 10 secs of the match.

Just trying to help you guys out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

EDIT: It turns out the game does freeze every once and a while after I did this.

Ever since I upgraded to any of the newer betas of Surreal64-XXX I receive ungodly slow dows in Mario Kart 64.

I ended up having to down grade to Beta 3 which works perfectly, any idea on why slow downs would happen with the newest versions??

Yes, I read the forum :
for KIxxx : I heard the fatality bug was more caused by the romset than the emu, I can t tell.
for surreal : for the HDTV mode :
1) it would take more resource
2) I don't have a HDTV
As for the compatibility list, I didn't include a 6.1.1 ini because I don't use this plugin on PC, if someone has something to try, why not smile.gif .
Plz give me only your impressions on this plugins compared to the others (5.10,5.31,5.60), I hope it will be the best of all to remove this crappy selection and begin to concentrate on only one plugin (cleaning up the sources for the xbox...).
I ve read there is a better compatibility on surreal 1.0 and that this version is based on the bugged CVS one, I don't really know since it is freakdave who took it from there, I ll maybe try a version whith the core of surreal 1.0 and rice 6.1.1 .

The Xbox does not have enough RAM to support HDTV for Surreal.

Good to see you back!

The KI-2 update is VERY noticeable in this version...I just got it running on my arcade mahine...I only have a 2-player 4 button cab so i just dont use the Weak k\p buttons...a small sacrafice...I am leaving it on for a few hours to see if it crashes...THANK YOU!

BTW.  Can you add .avi video previews to FBA-XXX ...I have all the .avis ready to go (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I don't think the latest Rice plugin and the CVS surreal xxx is based on like each other. I haven't got 1 single game working properly (well, except mario 64) yet. You either end up with messed up graphics or (most of the time) a frozen black screen of death.

i thought i would give the new version a shot and ok, it is better in some way, but still i think 3.9 is the far better choice.

I do not understand why it ain't possible to have controllers 3 and 4 enabled by default since the latest few versions. It sucks having to enable them each time you start the emulator. At least in this release they work as in the past they didn't. In 3.9 handles this perfectly so i'm gonna stick with that one...sorry.

It is your choice smile.gif .
As for 4 players by default, if it doesn t cause any problems, why not smile.gif .
As said in the nfo this is a public beta, I just got rice 6.1.0 runngin and added it, now I am cleaning it for the xbox and I am maybe gonna replace the actual 1964 with last one released on PC (the source released, not the latest released without sources).

Its very nice to see you again Gogo! Love the new KiXXX EMU update. I did notice when the backgrounds are off, and in Orchids stage if the Barrels explode the EMU will slow down back to about 39fps. Do you plan on adding any cheat options like: always play on a certain stage, unlimited health and unlimited supers for Player one? Thanks

i checked to see if i was missing any files, any curropt or damaged...
i have all the neccesary files for ki2.
but i got the .img from a site which is 400+mb...
i go to load it and it sounds like the system takes alot cause it slows down and the main menu just sticks.

i was wondering if anything, is there anything wrong with what im doing?

Hey guys, I made the moves lists for both KI1 and KI2. If you guys want them PM me and I can email them or something. I think they should get included in the next release if there is one. Or if some one has a way to host them that'd be even better. They're pretty detailed. They have the stages listed, how to play as gargos/eyedol, all of everyone's moves, and a few other things.

that would be great if you paued the game, and through the menu, you could pull up the .txt file of all the moves for KI and KI2. That would kick ass!

@gogo
sorry, this wasn't supposed to be a rant...  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
actually i really appreciate your dedication for the Nintendo lovers on xbox and i really like what i see so far, surreal is really great.

Should have been more of a suggestion. I think one of the great aspects about N64 games is that they let you play with 4 players on one screen, a feature too often not used in modern games. I think playing with a bunch of friends in front of 1 tv is much more fun than over live and alike. As we love to play micromachines and other party games  i think it would be great to have all 4 joypads enabled by default, so you don't have to enable them all the time...

and in fact i think updating it to 1.0 status would be awesome!

One idea I had for surreal would be to "star" what plug in works the best for what ever game you're playing.
Say you load a game, and you find the current plug-in works the best. You should be able to hit the right trigger and select an option to mark the plug-in, in a type of ini file. this way you don't have to remember which one works the best for every game.
And if I missed this option PLEASE tell me how to do it.

I've emailed a couple people the moves list for both games.
If other people want it just let me know.

Why not, for the moment, I am asking myself if it wouldn t be great to display some comments on the game like PJ64 on PC, but there aren't any ini file specificially done for surreal.
Well, after some test, rice 6.11 seems buggy like hell, I don t know where it comes from, but there seems to be a memory hole (like others I experienced missing textures in SSMB followed by a crash even if the ram free displayed stays at 15Mb).

It's the two zips for the KI 1 & 2 moves lists.
Just extract all of the txt files and replace the ones that are in the moves folders.

It definitely works. This applies to CD's as well as DVD's. Maybe you're missing some files somewhere...

Gogo, thank you very much for answer me... but I need more informations to resolve my problem, then... maybe freakdave can help more.
Freakdave... hear me please!
I'll tell the problem.:

I download the Surreal 64 XXX from www.gx-mod.com ( Old Gueux ) and it work's perfectly on HDD.When I burn it on DVD... it work's either, but only the emulator... it shows the screen... the roms... but when I try run a game... it break.
Besides, all roms are showed, but without the name of the game ( Unknown ) and the picture ( No box art avaliable )!!!

My Surreal.ini: ( On DVD and in the TDATA folder... )

[Settings]
Rom Path=D:\Roms\
Media Path=D:\Media\

I tried this too:

[Settings]
Rom Path=A:\Roms\
Media Path=A:\Media\

All they fail...

FreakDave... what did you do to it run on DVD? Make a mini tutorial here... PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
I continue thinking that this is a bug.

Answer please... sorry my english....

@The_Fuzileiro: I once had that problem too because I was trying to put my roms in separate directories, which SurrealXXX does not support (at least not on disc).  Just dump them all in the roms directory and get a program called, "Craxtion 4" to create the ISO.  It's as simple as that.  Oh, and you can just Google search for Craxtion 4; it's easy to find.

My rapidshare folder
I made this just a few mins ago because of the demand for the files.
It's the two zips for the KI 1 & 2 moves lists.
Just extract all of the txt files and replace the ones that are in the moves folders.

Thank you

Hey Gogo, do you have any plans to add network support to FBA-XXX?

No no no no..... you understood wrong... sorry I should express myself better...
I put all my roms in the same directorie ( D:/Roms/ ) but, I read a day, in a site... that the emulator was programed to read "D:" like "A:"...

http://www.cdrom-gui...t=265511&page=5

The problem is that the Surreal XXX detect all the roms, but it can't make them run... Do you understand now?

Only freakdave can resolve this... or someone who have it working on dvd decide to help us...

Thank's for try to help-me friend!

hello i am new to this surreal xxx 64 and i am using the latest updat 4.95 i think its an awsome emulator for xbox, but i have been having trouble getting some of the games working like resident evil 2 and majora's maks, with majora's all i get is sound but all it shows it a black and pink screen, what can i do to get it working? and what can i do to get resident evil 2 working good?im not really sure what dynarec and paging mem do for both 1964 and porject64,i have some good roms on the surreal 64xxx-4.95 i just need to know how to make them run good can someone help me on that?iv been doing everything to make the roms run good but they skip and sometimes slow, how can i slow the roms from running so slow? sleep.gif

resident evil 2 can't even be emulated by pc n64 emu's. best bet is to get the psx version, pcsxbox emulates it pretty well.

benpretend that is simply not true. The PC version of Project64 can emulate Resident Evil 2 decently well.

Don't know if anyone's said yet, but Shadows Of The Empire looks much better with the new Rice pluggin - only played the first level this morning and it looked right smile.gif I was wishing the pluggin would fix the mult-coloured snow wink.gif Good job!

isn't it well known by everyone that 1964 is dead and project 64 is not giving out source code anymore?

don't expect any n64 emulator improvements unless this situation changes.

@ The_Fuzileiro: Hmmm, not sure what's going on then.  I burned it to DVD and it's worked fine for me.  Hope someone here can help you out.  Good luck to you.

Ok... then can you tell me how your surreal.ini was configurate? Are the media and the roms like D:? or A:?
What did you do to burn the emulator on dvd? Did you only edit the surreal.ini and make an .iso image right?
Or did you do something more?
Thank you again!

Fuzileiro, maybe this ongoing problem (I remember your initial post) has something to do with your region?  Most development and testing is going on on North American and European region XBoxes...no idea what differences actually exist between different "regions" of XBoxen, or what region Brasil is, or if this could ever make a difference...but maybe someone else will?

Funny story about that...P64 and 1964 both weren't updated in about the same amount of time (~1.5 years).  Just a year ago, P64 v1.6 was released and development picked up.  So even though it is dormant (~2.5 years for 1964), that means nothing.  Hell, even FCEUltra is alive and kicking again.

yes... it means something.  the project 64 team is not giving out source code.  the only thing surreal needs is a better project64 base.  sadly it won't happen.

one thing i am looking at is the mupen64 codebase.  they have the most recent publicly released code (August of 2005).

Yeah, I've been spamming mupen64 for awhile now, but I was told by somebody that it wasn't fast enough to work on the Xbox, and they are probably right, which is a bummer, since mupen is indeed a very nice emulator.

I don't see why people are so quick to believe secondhand information when it's to the effect of "that's impossible".  So often it is not so.  Mupen64 runs different games to different degrees based on the speed of one's processor.  Given that it's heralded as the most portable emulator ever, working on anything that employs SDL and OpenGL, it would be a nice addition to Surreal's emulator choices.  Someone do it immediately, and rework Surreal's core while you're in there.

Hello "Jonh", so... my concole is a North  American Xbox. Here in Brazil we have only North American xboxes. Besides, I really think this isn't the problem.
Thank's!

The edit button seems to have gone the way of the dodo, but I looked at the mupen manual, and it recommends at least a 600 Mhz processor and 64 MB of RAM, both of which the Xbox meets.  So a port is technically possible

ASM = assembly code? huh.gif
Title: KI-xxx b0.9 and Surreal64-XXX b4.95
Post by: GogoAckman on April 12, 2006, 12:56:00 AM
Yep, but ASM is not always faster than C, especially on xbox, I once rewrote the entire low function from KI2 in asm and it began to run at 15fps instead of 30fps.
Actually the compiler optimize the code and rewrite it in asm in better way than many programmers (especially those who are not really used to code in asm).

The right thumb stick is supposed to take you into the in game menu.
I've had it pop up slow on me before but never just hang.
Try deleting your u64x config file and see if that works.
There's not a lot that could be doing it.

Yeah I saw those stats for Mupen64 somewhere but got confused since they're identical to those required for Project64...which makes me wonder if it will have few problems save with Perfect Dark...like a Project64 with better compatibility.  That's in a perfect world though where Surreal 2.0 includes Mupen64 along with the other emus and all Rice plugins.  I'm curious as to how people have fared with Mupen64 + Linux on stock XBox.

Yes, the plugin is called Mupen64 Software GFX Plugin, and was made by the Mupen64 author, Hacktarux.  He made it cross platform, originally for Linux.

Every time I try running either KI 1 or 2 it hangs at the selection screen when I press A "to play". Any ideas?

Well I got it working, just had to unzip the romsets.

Anyway, they both play perfect except that KI2 doesn't have any sound?! What gives?
