Well guys, I finally could get TAG MODE after months trying in Xmugen with no issues !!!!!
Was a lot of hard to get it working since the problems with the launch and Joy2key files... here they are ready to play tag battles controlling both chars by the players -no CPU using the second char- (PS: these builds don't include any char/stage at all !!! So please add at last one char and one stage to test it first).
One is the typical Xmugen version for E partition:
https://dl.dropbox.c...on-with-TAG.rar
remember: put the mugen folder and the linuxboot file in the E partition.
The other is for the F partition, so you can get larger Mugen games/compilations in your HDD. As you can see, here there's a folder with a swapfile of about 500MB ; if you install more of one xmugen game "F" version, you don't need to copy again the swapfile folder; same, you can install more "xmugen F" versions in the E folder and no need to copy the swapfile again (remember, for getting more of one mugen installed, you must rename the folder with other title. Example: E folder: mugenmk, mugensf, mugenmvc... when you'll use one of them, rename it as "mugen" -in the E partition- or "xmugen" in the F partition). The F version works on my Xbox putting it on the F/Games folder, so I inclueded it here in that way, but if it doesn't work in there, replace the contenct of F/Games to F/Emulators (in other words: 1.- can be F/Games/xmugen or 2.- F/Emulators/xmugen).
https://dl.dropbox.c...on-with-TAG.rar
and... I disabled some game modes. If you wanna activate them, edit the system.def file putting beetween " symbols the game mode you want to enable. Example : versus.mode = "VERSUS".
Now, how the tag team works:
Play in a simultaneos team mode. When the round begins, hold pressing in the first controller L3, then R trigger; for P2, only press R trigger (P1 must pressing L3 while). You can do this at the first seconds after the match begins. Test if the team tag worked before playing relaxy
. Be careful in don't touching the right analog stick in the match !!!
As an additional note, I disable the shadows for saving memory for play fluenty as possible.
Cheers !!!
PS: If you don't want to tag at all and wanna use the F partition build, just replace the 2 joy2key and launch files from a typical xmugen build.

Introduction
Q: What is Mugen?
A: M.U.G.E.N is a 2D fighting game engine designed by Elecbyte starting in 1999 using the Allegro game programming library. Elecbyte distributed beta versions that ran under DOS, Linux, and Windows. The engine allows for anyone to create characters, stages, and other game objects through interpreted text files and graphics and sound compilations, and it also supports MP3 background music during gameplay. The engine is very powerful and flexible, allowing for the same type of functionality found in most any commercial 2D fighting game, such as the Street Fighter games produced by Capcom or the King of Fighters games produced by SNK.
More info about M.U.G.E.M here.
Q: What can you do in Mugen?
A: Mugen is a very robust engine that allows you to use characters from virtually any game, even original characters that have never been created before. It also allows for 2 on 2 simultaneous battles. This in my opinion is the bread and butter of Mugen. Also with this engine you can play out the matches youve always dreamed of. Ryu vs Scorpion? Check. Wolverine vs Fulgore? Check. Evil Ryu & Evil Ken vs SSJ3 Broli and a uber M. Bison? Check. Its all possible as long as the characters have been created (and for the most part, most popular games have been ripped) or you feel like creating the character yourself.
XMugen-linux (more commonly referred to as xmugen, as the Windows mugen is referred to as winmugen, or Linux Mugen as linmugen) is a port of linmugen to Xbox by Alg5. Alg5 compiled a bare bones linux kernel based on XDSL. Since it is based off of linmugen, there are some compatibility issues with winmugen and dosmugen files running in it. So depending on your luck, you may or may not have to do a lot of configuring to get your characters/stages/screenpacks running. As xmugen is such a picky program, if there are any misconfigurations in the character select screens, character files, or stage files, it will either freeze at the versus screen (usually a memory issue but not always) or it might error out to the linux kernel that is running in the background. With this in mind, and the sheer size that the XMugen-linux Beta v0.1 thread has grown to, I thought that it would be best to have a FAQ thread that people could easily look to for answers.
Considering that Xmugen-linux is a combination of a running Linux kernel and linmugen, there have been a lot of tweaks and updates released. There are different tweaks for Linux which is quickly becoming a popular subject due to xmugen and the success of epsxe. There are also many mugen specific tweaks which can normally be found on mugen specific sites, and I am trying to contain all of the data needed to get xmugen running well.
Please keep posts in this thread limited to issues getting xmugen running. Obviously the demand for xmugen is growing very large, which is no surprise as it is a great program, but lets try to keep this as a reference thread and keep general mugen discussion in another thread.
Step 1: Gather the files needed for xmugen.
Required files needed for XMugen to run properly:
Updated XMugen-linuxb3 distro (V3 with Alg's newest irdloop). By Alg5
Download here: http://rapidshare.de/files/16472771/Update...inuxb3.rar.html
NOTE: If using this new distro, you MUST modify your linuxboot.cfg and change the line reference to ird-loop.gz to irdloop.gz as that file has been renamed for compatibility.
Additional files for use with XMugen:

Step 2: Set up Xmugen on the Xbox.
With Alg5's latest release, you can set up your main mugen on your E, F, & G partitions, or run from a CD/DVD (more on this in the next paragraph). Make sure that the folder remains called "mugen" not "Mugen" and is put into the root of whichever partition you choose (E/mugen/ , F/mugen/ , G/mugen/). The bzimage & irdloop.gz must go into E/mugen/ regardless of where your other mugen folder is. The linuxboot.cfg must also go into the root of your E partition. Make another mugen folder under either Apps, Emulators or Games (your choice, although Id toss it under Emulators as I keep the Games section for just Xbox games). Copy the default.xbe into it as this is just the launcher that you will use to run xmugen.
To run from a CD/DVD, you'll have to make a few minor changes. First in your burning program, select UDF/ISO as your disc's format. Edit the launch file (using notepad or simliar program) and modify this line:
#!/static/ash sleep 7 ./mugen & sleep 1 ./joy2key1 & ./joy2key2 &
to this:
#!/static/ash sleep 7 ./mugen & sleep 10 ./joy2key1 & ./joy2key2 &
Make absolutley sure that you don't copy and paste the previous line into your launch file as it WILL NOT WORK, it must be manually typed in (only 1 number so not that difficult).
Once you've done that, layout your files on the CD/DVD like this:
/root/
linuxboot.cfg
default.xbe
/mugen/
Next you'll want to configure your linuxboot.cfg to work with your tv. If you're not using a HDTV, then your existing config should work fine. If you are using an HDTV, you'll probably want to set it to use either 480p or 720p (note if you have a 1.6 box, you can only run 480p). To set it for 480p or 720p, simply change video=xbox:640x480 to video=xbox:480p or video=xbox:720p in linuxboot.cfg. Some people have reported that the Gentoox loader screen (the first screen shown after launching the mugen default.xbe) will either not display or look garbled if they do not have 720p or 1080i enabled in their dash. Also of note is that if youre using the HD pack with your xbox and using fiber optic output, that xmugen will not output digital sound. So you will need to hook up the analog audio cables as well, and have your receiver switch to analog input when using xmugen (theres a chance this might be fixed in the future, but dont hold your breath).
Step 3: Configure your Characters/Stages/Screenpacks.
This is where most of your time with xmugen will be spent: Configuring. As Linux is CasE sEnsTive, you'll want to rename all of your folders and files to lowercase. Some people that are like me that prefer capitalizing everything might find this difficult, but trust me, it'll make your life much easier in the long run. Xmugen is also sensitive to backslashes (\). You must replace all \ with / otherwise xmugen will crash. I would HIGHLY recommend using Sludge's Xmugen Renamer. All you have to do is point it to your character/stages folder, scan it, and then select all and fix. It will automatically rename folders, files, and the references to files in the def files. It will also fix numerous other discrepancies that can cause your mugen to crash. Do this for all of your characters and stages. You'll have to do your screenpacks manually for now.
NOTE: The following section is NOT necessary if you're using Sludge's Xmugen Renamer. I'm leaving it here for reference only.
Once that's done, you should start editing the .def files for each character, stage & screenpack. Once again you can use a batch file editor (one that can open files and edit them internally) or do them manually. Rename every instance of a file that is being referenced to lowercase. Although I'd love to let a program fix everything for me automatically, I prefer to do this part manually as I like to have the display name remain capitalized (SFA M. Bison looks better to me than sfa m. bison).
Here are some specific things to look for in a character's def file:
Version dates should NEVER have strings.
versiondate = 06,16,2002
mugenversion = 04,14,2001
The code above is the only accepted syntax. NONE ELSE.
The same for pal defaults. only 1-12 values are allowed, delimited by commas. Other values will cause the crash!
pal.defaults = 4,5,6,1,2,3
Character intros/endings should either be pointing to an existing file or if one does not exist, comment it out (put a ; in front of the line of code).
Please know that this will account for pretty much all of the problems you will have with xmugen. Any other problems will be related to incompatibilities with linmugen. I've had xmugen lock up with fonts, sprites and sounds from winmugen made packs. If anyone has any specifics on what isn't compatible, let me know.
Once you've renamed all of your files and edited your .def files, you need to start putting all of your characters and stages into your select.def. Decide what screenpack you want to use, and open up the select.def in that screenpacks folder. Depending which screenpack you use, there should be placeholders for where your characters should go. They typically are randomselect or (insert character here). There should be an example of the syntax required for characters/stages being inputted at the beginning of the characters section. Basically you will insert the following:
Location of character's .def file, location of stage .def file, character's order
Example:
Hacks/evil ryu/evil ryu.def, stages/sfa3 akuma.def, order=9
Now for your stages. Find the stages section, and insert your stages.
Example:
stages/cvss2_london.def
Some crashes occur when the stage.def file has "bgmusic = sound/". It will crash mugen if it has "sound/" so either put a song there (bgmusic = sound/music.mp3) or remove the entry by commenting it out.
As always, the file locations are case sensitive, so make sure they are all lowercase if you followed my advice. Note: I realize that my Hacks folder is capitalized. I sort all of my characters by the game/type of character they are from. Although I leave all of my character folders and files lowercase, I capitalize the game folders (just looks better as SFA, KOF or MVC than sfa, kof or mvc).
There is a bug in Mugen that if you either don't have one, or if you have random assigned to your characters in the select.def, mugen will give an error and crash when you continue in Arcade mode. To do a "mass" assignment, I copied a stage I had and renamed it to "random.def". I then did a replace all, and replaced all instances of "random" with "random.def". That way every character has a stage assigned, and you can then go back through at your leisure and assign individual stages to them.
Also of note is the character's order. This will determine in what order you face opponents in arcade mode. The order goes 0-10. Zero isn't used by the AI, so assign this to characters that are extremely cheap (Psycho shredder?) or too small to fight against. So assign weak/crappy AI characters to 1-3 (nice for a little warm up), normal characters to 4-7 (the bulk of your arcade mode), and then your super hacked and insane AI characters to 7-10. I tend to put the Spec Ops, most uber DBZ characters (Nightmare Brolli) and Evil Ryu & Evil Ken to either 9 or 10. At the bottom of the select.def is a section that contains arcade.maxmatches= & team.maxmatches=. Going from left to right is the number of times you'll fight a character with an order of 1, 2, 3, and so on.
Example:
arcade.maxmatches=1,1,2,3,1,2,2,2,2,1
team.maxmatches=1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,1
In Arcade mode, this will make you play 1 order 1 character, 1 order 2 character, 2 order 3 characters, 3 order 4 characters and so on.
To set your xmugen to run your selected screenpack, you need to go to /mugen/data/ and edit mugen.cfg. Find a line near the top that says motif. Edit this line to point to your screenpacks system.def. Once you've gotten all of your characters, stages, and screenpacks squared away, I'd highly suggest trying them out on linmugen on your pc (if you can/are running linux on your pc) or winmugen (winmugen isn't case sensitive so you can't test that this way). As there is no IGR in Xmugen, once it locks up you'll have to manually restart, so debugging this way can be very time consuming and annoying. Make sure every character & stage works. If you get any errors, make sure to try to correct them or move them to a "not working" folder until you can fix them. Also remove them from your select.def. Once you're satisfied that your setup works, copy it to your xbox (characters into the chars folder, stages into the stages folder, etc).
Step 4: Configure Xmugen to run smoothly on your Xbox.
This section is not an exact science as there is a lot of different things going on with everyone's setup. Different characters, stages, screenpacks, 64mb of ram, 128mb of ram; it all differs for everyone. So while one setting might work for some, it might not work for another. You'll have to tinker around and see what works best for you. Below I'll go through the mugen.cfg settings and point out which ones will make a difference in your game speed. My settings below are set more towards 2 on 2 team mode (the best way to play on Mugen) and will make 1 on 1 matches run much much faster. I'd recommend trying them out for yourself, and see how you like them, then tweak from there.
;Set to 1 to run at maximum speed by default.
Speedup = 1 ; This will force Mugen to run at its fastest possible speed at all times. So this can vary from super fast to normal as the situation changes (size of stages, number of characters)
Change Depth = 32 to Depth = 16
Now find FullScreen = 0 and change it to FullScreen = 1 ;Changing these two will eliminate the need to push in the L3 button when Xmugen boots.
DoubleRes=0 ; Although it looks better turned on, this is a huge memory hog, and I'd rather play 2 on 2 smoothly than have it look better
VRetrace = 0 ; Big memory hog
Once you set those, mugen at the normal game speed under options, will run at about 115-120% speed, even with 2 on 2. So you'll then want to turn up the settings on anything else to counter the ungodly speed boost you'll get. Note, turning up any of the previous settings WILL make it run slowly again, whereas the following settings don't seem to really slow down my xbox at all.
[Config]
DrawShadows = 1 ;I turn this on to counter the speed boost
[Misc]
PlayerCache = 4 ;I turn this up to counter the speed boost, plus it speeds up the loading times
Precache = 6
BufferedRead = 1
UnloadSystem = 1
If you set everything like I have it, your mugen will run at about 120% speed in a 1 on 1 match. To counter this, simply go to options, and turn down the game speed to one of the slow settings. For Team matches, you'll want to have the game speed set to normal, or fast. This allows for you to tweak within your mugen without having to edit the cfg file, so I find this a much better option.
If you all want to see what frame rates your getting, edit mugen.cfg and change Debug = 0 to Debug = 1.
Alg's newest joy2key has fixed all of the bugs with 2 player support, so I have removed the old 2 player hack. However, he has not implemented F2 button support to configure controller 2, so unless you have a usb keyboard, you will not be able to modify it. I will post my button config below, and if you don't have a keyboard and would like a specific layout, PM me and I will make one for you and post it for others to use.
This layout assigns the buttons as follows:
A = LK
B = HK
X = LP
Y = HP
WHITE = MK
BLACK = MP
Just copy and paste this over top of the matching section in yourof mugen.cfg:
; P1 Key config (configurable from M.U.G.E.N)
[P1 Keys]
Jump = 30
Crouch = 17
Left = 16
Right = 31
A = 51
B = 40
C = 38
X = 52
Y = 53
Z = 39
Start = 28
; P2 Key config (configurable from M.U.G.E.N)
[P2 Keys]
Jump = 18
Crouch = 19
Left = 20
Right = 21
A = 22
B = 37
C = 25
X = 23
Y = 24
Z = 50
Start = 37
Step 5: Playing xmugen.
Now for the fun part: playing xmugen. Launch the xmugen default.xbe. Youll get a Gentoox loader screen which is the screen used for launching any Linux apps. Select FatX (your hard drive) and you should see xmugens Linux load and going through the launch process. Now depending upon how many characters and stages you have, the screen will remain black until it finishes loading. You will then see the menu once it's finished loading.
From here on out its your choice what to play. You have the standard 1 on 1 Arcade mode, Team modes and Survival. In my opinion the Team/Team Co-Op modes are the reason to play Mugen. Ever since the days of Street Fighter Alphas hidden Dramatic Battle mode, my friends and I have yearned to gang up on the CPU and beat the living hell out of it. Even better, you can now do 2 on 2 which can REALLY give you some competition.
Even better than all of that, is the fact that you can tweak the characters attributes to your liking. You ever wish that your super bar didnt stop at 3? Think that a character deals too much damage? Wish your character had more life? It is really simple to tweak the settings although you can really mess up the games balance if you mess with it too much (backing up the character you plan to modify before hand is HIGHLY recommended). To edit the players attributes, find their standard .cns file. Normally this file is the same name as the characters .def file. At the very top of the file, you should see some common things: Life, Attack, Defense & Power. As a general rule of thumb, these settings are normally as follows:
Life=1000
Attack=100
Defense=100
Power=3000
When playing Team Co-op, you share a super bar. So whatever the Power attributes of the 1st character is set at, will be what is shared between the two. I feel that for a hectic 2 on 2 battle, a level 3 super bar isnt big enough. I prefer to have the bar set at level 6 (3 for each character, or a full 6 for one if the other character holds back). This makes for a DBZ esque game where if your character supports it, one character can hold back and charge up the bar, while the other one holds off and/or unrelentlessly attacks the CPU. Theres nothing like going in and pulling off some 100+ hit combo with super after super, then finishing with a Raging Demon. Some people might think that this would be cheap or cheating, but really, it comes down to your skill ability. You cant charge up your bar if you have an Evil Ryu teleporting behind you, or a Shin Akuma raining fireballs down upon you.
Credits
That should cover most normal things youll encounter with xmugen. If you encounter something not listed here, or have something to add to FAQ, post it and Ill try to edit it in. As stated before, try to keep this as a compatibility/configuration type thread so, keep the character and other types of requests to another thread.
Id like to thank Alg5 for giving us this excellent port to entertain me for a long time to come. Also big thanks to DarkCloud12X who started the excellent Epsxe thread which has inspired many people to try and make linux ports like this (which I feel is about to explode with tons of excellent ports soon). Thanks to Mugen gurus like Vejita and r1sky who have been helping people like me get this running well on my xbox. HUGE thanks to Sludge, who's Xmugen Renamer program has made it 10X easier and faster to configure Xmugen. Also thanks to stig87 for creating an Xmugen forum for us, and anyone else in the forums that have contributed to xmugen in any way.

i'm totally confused on how to switch screenpacks. I'm having extreme difficulty on trying to install the Duracelleur Pack. This is what the inside of my data folder looks like. I'm running the mimium eve pack.
eve/ "folder"
common.snd
common1.cns
Copy of select.def
fight.def
fight.sff
fight.snd
fightfx.air
fightfx.sff
mugen.cfg
select.def
system.def
system.sff
system.snd
and then inside the "eve" folder
common.snd
common1.cns
doh2.cns
fight.def
fight.sff
fight.snd
fightfx.air
fightfx.sff
gameover.def
gameover.sff
mugen.cfg
select.def
system.def
system.sff
system.snd
The other thing, is I have the "mugen" motif pointing into the "eve" folder, if that makes any sense?
I've tried deleting the files in the "data" folder, and put in the new data folder files, but the game crashes, I then tried putting it in the "eve" folder, and that didn't work either.
I'm so confused on this issue. I've been able to edit the select.def files to point to other folders containg different types of music, stages, characters, etc, etc, but I can't get this screenpack for the life of me.
I really want to try this new Duracelleur Pack. The character select screen looks so awesome, and the lifebars look awesome as well. Could someone be kind enough, to tell me exactly what to do with this data folder? Thank You.

How to boot into Xmugen without the annoying resolution prompt
Open up mugen.cfg with notepad and change Depth = 32 to Depth = 16.
Now find FullScreen = 0 and change it to FullScreen = 1.
Xmugen will now boot straight up to the main menu without having to press down on the left stick.
-
Xmugen keeps asking me for a boot disc...what kind of boot disc do I need?

I have UnleashX on a softmodded box (SmartXX), will that linuxboot.cfg file in the E:\ root directory screw up the booting process, or will it still boot to UX?

I second the question with the linuxboot.cfg file in the E:\ root when I have a softmodded Xbox. I have EvoX. Does everybody that play this have a mod chip? Using the linux won't mess up my softmod right?
-
modchip(with any non-cromwell bios) or softmod, having linuxboot.cfg in the root of E:\ will not screw up the boot process of your xbox.

Is there a setting that accomodates the 480i setting? I have a Component TV, but 480i's the best it can do, and the GentooX loader doesn't seem to like this "in-between" thing.
-
Try Alg's newest irdloop update, which he says may elminate some problems with booting the Gentoox loader.

Nope, it still don't like my 480i/Component hookup. :-P
Oh well, I'll wait.

i don't see any error on your photo. the /dev/js1 correspond to the 2nd joystick, so it's normal that it complain that it doesn't exist since you plug only one.
try this mugen and put it into your mugen directory:
http://rapidshare.de...1745/mugen.html
if not, edit the launch and try to put bigger value after each sleep.
i don't know if it will solve your problem, it's only things to try...

Hey i have two questions i accidently altered the buttons config in the mugen menu and cant seem to get it back to default. I dont know how to hit the f3 key for default buttons. Doed mugen have a game save anywhere i can delete to start over? I have a logitec wireless controller only. I tried to delete everthing and re install but it still has the altered buttons. I also set up the linuxboot.cfg for 720p for my hdtv but i only get a small 4:3 screen in the center of my tv i cant figure out hot to stretch it out to fill my 16:9 screen? Thanks for any info.
-
The controller config is saved in mugen.cfg. All you would have to do to fix this would be to upload an unmodified mugen.cfg back onto your xbox. I can't help you with the 720p issue, as when I boot it, the video is all scrambled, so just stick with 480p.
-
Ok i got it working i had to move the idrloop file to the /E/KNOPPIX/ folder but i still have the small screen about 1/6th of my normal tv screen. So ill stick with the 480p but i have one question about the controller it is now like you set it X=LP, Y=HP,A=LK, B=HK white=MK and black=MP. What do i need to do to make white MP and black MK thanks.

the farthest i get is toward the gentoo screen and it says Cd/dvd (pic of dvd), netowrk(pic of pc monitor) and advance (pic of pinguen) and dont know where to go from there so i was wondering if there is a picture faq that takes it step by step because so far i havent found one and still searching?

If you have x-mugen installed on your xbox hard drive, then you should also see a picture of a joystick and the words "FAT-X" below it. If you see this, choose this option and x-mugen should load.

I noticed the references to /cdrom which seemed odd. Can you tell me which version of Xmugen you are using (ie version .4?) I haven't yet used the version that doesn't include the swap file.

Is there a setting that accomodates the 480i setting? I have a Component TV, but 480i's the best it can do, and the GentooX loader doesn't seem to like this "in-between" thing.
I believe i'm also having this exact problem, though i'm none too sure. I don't have an HD TV, but it does support component hookups as that's what i've got hooked up. The loader comes up with a wobbly screen and such and I can't read a darn thing.
Any help on how to fix this would be me thanking from the bottom of my heart. and it's a deep heart.

In the Xmugen thread, with Alg's help r1sky got it to working on dvd and made a How to thread on Xmugen spot. I'll have to copy the info into my FAQ as well. I had originally just posted what Alg said would work in my FAQ; I never tried it myself as I run everything off my hard drive.

Once again that is not an "error", that is showing that linux is running perfectly fine as it has booted all of the correct drivers and joy2key is running. If you are seeing that, then that means that your Xmugen has crashed. This can be caused by a cApItAlIzEd screenpack when it shouldn't be, a character problem etc. It all depends on when it craps out to that. I'm assuming that its an issue with your screenpack, most likely you're using my ultimate pack and haven't renamed the /mugen/data/Custom folder to /mugen/data/custom .

I guess We're on our own with this one then

everything else works fine in the game, sound effects work great.
But the background music just won't!
I've tried all kinds of file types, wav, mp3 mid, and still non of them load!!
No matter what map I add the sound to it still won't work!
even if I over ride it with a song in the select.def file they still don't load!
Maybe snd files will work with background music... if anyone else knows anything for the love of god please help out!
-
I fixed it!
what I had to do, was to give each and every stage I have in my MUGEN background music,
I think all the empty bgmusic tags were causing an error or something.
Anyway make sure that your mp3's/wavs are below 48khz stero otherwise they may not play.
-
Yes having mugen's stage files point to a non existing or blank music file will cause the stage to make Mugen crash. So either have it point to a real .mp3 or leave the line blank.
-
Also, the other night I was adding music to some backgrounds.
I came accross 2 different mp3 songs that would not play.
I checked out the mp3s and neither of them said they were protected, but after I worked some magic with Goldwave (copy, open new, paste, save as) I got them running.
Other people have mentioned having this problem so if you can't get a particular song to load, it might just because of it.
-
Hhmm, regarding guybird's mugen pack. Is it normal for the program to take arpund 1 minute to load everything? I already removed like 200 characters from the pack and a couple of stages which seem to always crash the program, but it still takes that long to load. Also, I was wondering if it was possible to edit the character select screen so that if you pressed down, the cursor would bring you to the first slot of the next line. Normally, if there was a blank character slot under you, you wouldn't be able to press down. I would like the cursor to always move to the first character of the next line if you pressed down.
Lol, I hope that was explained right. Its because there's this nice screenpack I saw which needs a little tweak like that to work properly. http://www.mugenjet.achoo.jp/

can someone give me the atcually link to where i can DOWNLOAD this emulator, NOT a patch, the actuall download please
-
Lol, did you even read the faq by guybird? It's right there, all the links you need (its only for xmugen v3. There's already a version 4 of xmugen, though I'm not sure of the changes). Also, as vampx said in the other forum, this isn't an emulator. It's a stripped down linux distro specifically for running Mugen. This also made me wonder what this FAQ is doing here in the emulator forum. Oh well, whatever reasons they have, at least it helped me a lot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

MF29, you're not allowed to ask for dirrect links to things not in the main pages tools/software sections. If it's not hosted on X-S it doesn't abide their set rules. Asking for them in the forums can result in a ban.
Other forums and IRC channels do not have to play by X-S's rules. You might want to try and ask there.

Reread the tutorial of this thread. You just have to put the mugen folder in F:/ BUT you have to have a couple files in E:/mugen and a couple in E:/ too.

Anyway, It crashed when I pressed down+left on the pad, it also crashed when I loaded a character that worked fine in Winmugen... I don't think I'm going to mess with this now. I'll just wait until a more stable version is available, or maybe when Openmugen is available.

late reply but i might have a fix and this is the only way i got around that. you need to edit the following text in system.def
wrapping = 1
moveoveremptyboxes = 1
and this line, try it if it works or not:
showemptyboxes = 0
i think this will only work with the style of the Mugen Fighting Jam style of select screen, where it displays sections and not boxed characters. the way i got it to work is that u can scroll right past the characters and when u find empty boxes, you can scroll down. the new problem is that if you go past like 20 boxes of characters, then one more to the 21st and get a empty box and u press down to go to the next section. you end up in the next section on box #21 from where u left off from the last row. this is the only way i got it all to work. mugen isnt advanced enough to actually return you to the beginning character after you press down.

Hmm, worth a try I guess (though I didn't quite understand how it works). One workaround I did was trim down guybird's pack so I could fit only 30 characters per section (SF, DBZ, ANIME, etc). What I didn't understand by doing this was why the loading times didn't really improve eventhough I removed a lot of characters (and some stages as well).
-
you removed characters? did you delete them out of the select.def too? the issue may be just the screenpack itself or your mugen.cfg settings. the mugen.cfg controls the graphical setup that mugen will use/read. i myself use a sf3 screenpack released by someone else. i took it and edited it for my private use. it can hold a unlimited # of characters. its not the boxed/oval shape of character select screen that are commonly seen in every fighting game. its just a category or section type where it displays a section by the game and it has all those characters by that game of franchise in that cateogory. basically the same exact screenpack you see here: http://www.mugenjet.achoo.jp/ only in sf3: third strike style. i even added more sections and hidden sections to mine. i can tell you that i have 1000+ characters and my mugen is well over 7gb and the loading times are minimal and runs great.
-
all my characters work on winmugen but when i placed them over to xmugen i got some of them that show up an works fin but the others are just a whole bunch of blank squares that the cursor skips over
can some one help?
i absolutly dont know what to do
-
When you move characters from winmugen to x-mugen make sure you run them through x-mugen renamer first. Plus make sure you edit your select.def file. X-mugen can not find characters if they have caps in the titles. For example if your character is KenMasters in the select.def and it is kenmasters in the char folder x-mugen wont find it. Make sure you remove all the caps in the char names in the select.def.
Well what I am wondering is, does anyone know what the latest linux mugen is? The version that came with x-mugen is a 2001 version, is there a later version?
One more thing, Mugen Fighting Jam seams to take a while no matter what you have. I started with a few characters and am now up to 490 and it still takes 30 seconds to a minute to load

I have no clue what if any newer versions of linmugen there are.
As for the screenpack loading times, you gotta remember that the xbox only has 64megs of ram; not very much. Also remember that there are settings that you can tweak in the mugen.cfg file. However, setting mugen up for faster loading will reduce the in game performance. I can "suffer" through 20-30 secs of loading for a smooth running in game setup.
-
I downloaded the latest from the bin and it starts to load up. It gets to the black screen with all the text loading with the guys picture at the top left hand corner of the screen, then it says "Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!" Any ideas whats wrong? I really want to try this

well im running the sf3 screenpack with the categorized select screen. i had around 800 character and it really only took 2-3minutes to load and i got a 64mb xbox. now i have around 1400+ characters and it takes up to 5minutes to load.

Just as a note for anyone using this FAQ, it is very outdated. I don't have edit permissions on it, and frankly most people don't look at this anyhow. Go to the XMugen Spot forum for updated files and an updated FAQ. Plus it would be quicker to get an answer to problems there. And as stated earlier, the screenpack has little to no effect on the load time. The xbox only has 64mb of ram, so as you add more characters it will take longer to load them up. Hell, even on my pc which has 1gig of ram it takes about 20 secs to load so really just chill out for 30 secs then enjoy it.

2. You should update the package as much of it is outdated (look at the site you got it from for more info, there is lots of discussion about it there).

I posted about this problem a few months ago, and just came back around the communtiy today to see if any of the new stuff would work, but I still have the same old problem. I am running on a softmod box btw.
for me i get a thing that says ^C then when it says finish then i type that in and it says file not found?? any ideas guys??

Just a link to generate some interest in Xmugen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxW4xNPKQ-U&eurl=
I can't believe this hasn't picked up in popularity yet. Maybe because of the difficulty involved with getting it running? Personaly I've seen that Xmugen works best if you limit F to 137GB and rest on G for big hard drives. If you have a 500GB and split F/G to 245+245 Xmugen won't load. I've seen it on 4 500GB so far.

Just had a problem with Xmugen loading on a 120GB - same behavior of the 500GBs that I had troubles with. All I did was clear X,Y,Z cache with Slayers and all is well! Hopefully this will work with those 500GB hdds - I guess it's time to make some phone calls
-
It's not just 500GB HDDs. There's some hard disk drives that work and some that don't work all of different sizes and brands. I have a rare opportunity to test Xmugen on at least 10 xboxes a week. I'll post my findings and start an HDD compatiblity database. I've seen it work/notwork on softmods/tsops/modchips. Only bioses I use are X25035, M8plus, and newest Krayzie.

I see that you are posting quite a bit. Are you aware of the site here? : http://xmugen.nugnugnug.com/ ? I have been playing xmugen since 05/06. I simply love it. I upgraded the hd on my softmodded xbox just for Xmugen. I have yet to have any experience with the 500gb boxes and Xmugen. I will tell you this it can be a finicky prog due to the caching of a swap file of either 512-712 on x i believe or 1gb-2gb on the e or f drives. Sometimes you do have to clear cache to make space. Sometimes ur not booting maynot even be a cache issue. Some xboxes seem to like it in a folder called Games others in a folder called Emulators. If you are going through quite a bit of xbox mugen modding it I recommend with all due respect against sloppy sloppy. It can drive you quite batty lol. Oh I almost forgot to mention another thing yo may notice is that on 1.6 xbox's the screen is slightly zoomed in. So ver 1.0 is ideal for mugen play. I reread some of your posts and to be honest I doubt that Xmugen is incompatible with any particular brand/version xbox(i have seen it on quite a few variations at this point I can't imagine that the brand/hd makes a difference) I feel that this is more of a format/directory issue. You may want to tinker with the setup i have uploaded here (it is for large hd's) and see how the xbox's like it: http://www.sendspace.com/file/kfb3b8 (note I have since updated this quite a bit and even have the new cfem pack booting as will stay tuned for an update to this pack.) Nwayz hope this input helps ya! Now do me a favor and write a newb friendly tutorial to how to burn the iso to dvd. I know this can be done. I have no interest in one. Just for my small hd softmod friends. Ciao!
And yes I mirror your opinion I cannot believe it is not more popular. I am trying my best in my area in ny to change that. But it appears to be because of the difficulty involved/lack of awareness...

yeah im also trying to get mugen to become real popular around my area so far i have gotten a few friends to catch an interest on this, but im amazed how many people pass something this awesome without being aware.
i myself am trying to open a forum where people can trade characters that are no longer available.
and also i dont mind sharing my characters which i have tried to optimize for xmugen (i did it by extracting their snd files, doing batch editing of their sound files, and remounting their snd files to make them smaller and make them easier on the xbox's low 64 mb of ram. Also ive used utilities that help clean the sff files off them and they work great. im trying very hard to setup a small comunity where people can share m.u.g.e.n characters which are no longer found, or just share their m.u.g.e.n (windows or xbox) experience in general
ive setup a small thread in a forum i made for this here
My small forum for M.U.G.E.N
maybe if i can get some members we can make a database of which characters run good on xmugen, etc
if anyone needs help drop a message or feel free to start a mugen related thread there.
and also if you guys need to setup m.u.g.e.n for the first time visit the http://xmugen.nugnugnug.com/ site
Their site is the best, its awesome and very informative

It also won't work if you have widescreen enabled. Too late I've already gone nutz
Yeah I've done one load and was being lazy so I found an MFJ premade for PC and just converted it to Xbox without any testing. So far only 2 stages and Cloud crashes Xmugen. It's a 3.9GB load with a lot of characters I'm not even using yet. I just dumped a bunch in there for teh different screenpacks I wanna eventually integrate.

Thanks! What distro are you using on that? Whats cfem? I'd like to know how to get it to boot from DVD too. I'm going to burn it and see what happens. My biggest wish for Xmugen is X-Arcade/Quasicon support.

General reaction from people in my waiting room are amazement, disbelief, and laughter
.I was just at a local tilt arcade last night and was exchanging tickets when I saw a small crowd of the employees and some customers with a laptop and two controllers playing a game. I went to look at the commotion and it was sure enough it was MUGEN
-
I think Xmugen kicks pc mugens but just cause of ease of use /portability. Pc mugen wins in terms of performance and load time. But that bout it. Ps2 controller is nice too. CFEM is the new Capcom Fighting evolution screen pack. It is nice. If you can get a setup to burn to dvd please write me a friendly tutorial all i ask. Nice to hear some intelligent discussion on Mugen. Nug nug is getting silly. I dont post much there anymore because of this. Nice to know I am not the only one driven batty by XMugen. But now that I am in a flow shall we say I am no longer loosing this battle with my sanity. lol. I am using the same distor you are I believe just a different setup. It is the one AMOC came up with. I like it very very much. but to each his own.
btw I have been watching robo chicken quite a bit and i think it rocks!!

seanp2500 first off thanks for this compilation. It rocks. The only question I have for you is where is the CFEM screenpack that you mentioned. I could not find it. Could you tell me where to find it or is it hidden somewhere in the screenpack menu screen. Thanks for your time and effort.

lmao. You are one of the few people who has thanked me for it (I think the third) so it is much appreciated. Side note thank AMOC as well!! He is active on these forums and was the one who released the loader I am using. I think it is quite snazzy. Alot of work went into that file on my end though. Alas it is not without problems. The pack you have downloaded does not actually include cfem. I discovered how to port that later. I plan on uploading a new pack with some bug fixes/new work (kurumin has a real cool game ending screen that was broken, I also gave kurumin a guilty gear them it rocks!...) and cfem hopefully tomorrow. I will keep ya posted...
Oh and do check out my roster vid/xbox mugen demo quality kinda sux cause i was using a digi cam with vid capabilites my girl had. I had to compress the original avi file from a gig to like 55mb lol

just a quick question guys
i ran the xbox version of mugen (xmugen) on my pc( which is running the freespire linux distro) when i ran it on my linux set up through the pc console it says
M.U.G.E.N test ver 2001.11.14
i downloaded a version of mugen for linux and the last one that elecbyte made seems to have been made on 2002.04.14
is there any reason for xmugen not using this "newer version" of linmugen?
please forgive me if im missing something as im barely learning on linux
or if there is a special reason in particular

better ai ramping in older version is what someone said at nug nug to this q

this didnt work for me... maybe I'm doing something wrong? Or should I try to look for 4.5 instead of 4? My xbox just hangs on the boot menu, I try direct boot and nothing happens, same with choosing any of the screenpacks
-
What program i need to run mugen on xbox?
-
Hello guys, nice to meet you.
I'm a not professional Mugen creator, but I'm try to make a game since 2002.
I wanna try this WIP on the Box ( Xmugen) but ....
I have this same problem ( as same specifications on my Xbox):
QUOTE:
"I get past this, and the Linux thing begins to load. I am loading XMugen off of the HDD, and select FatX at the Gentoox screen. Linux says:
(Forgive the typoes, I had to swap to composite cables to make it work and the res is difficult to read)
Adding Swap: 52420OK Swap Space (Priority -1)
bdah: Bad Access Block = 0, Count = 1
end request: I/O Error, dev 03:38 (hda), sector 0
Mount: Mounting /dev/hda56 on /cdrom failed: Invalid Argument
umount: /cdrom Invalid Argument
Mount: /dev/hda is write protected. Mount Read-Only
cdrom: open failed
mount: mounting /dev/hdb on /cdrom failed: No Medium
Kernel Panic: Attempted to Kill Init!
At this point the green light on the xbox blinks and it hangs forever. Any ideas?
I have a regular xbox, 64mb ram, etc. 1 S-Type controller plugged in, nothing fancy."
ANd I still can't run it. There's a solution for it really ?
For example, a latest softmod , put more HDD to the console? Or just buy another Box ( My console is the 1.6 version as the technician told me ) .
Please ........ THX in advance.

aside from what guybird has released/edited/made/whatever. here is my version. has all the updates ive done.
theres 2 versions. e drive and f drive. i doubt i have to explain what the differences are. anyways.
they go into X:/Games/
1 gb swap file
has mfj screenpack set to doubleres4
speed tweaks
dvd loading merged (just find a tutorial/whatever to create the dvd)
pretty much, the whole thing is setup to work 100%. its already had lots of testing from new ppl and works great for them. this thing is all drag and drop. just upload the xmugen folder to your 'Games' folder and your good to go. just upload your characters and add them to the select.def.
anyways, i decided to use a external source to upload the files. i wont be messing with it anymore nor will i keep coming back to this forum

For E drive:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/b9gbj8For F drive:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/sxidc2edit: i might release a screenpack addon but who knows. so here is a dvd creator addon. its my same setup from before. but you can extract this file anywhere on your hdd and copy over your xmugen setup and make a working dvd. once again, all drag and drop. just follow the readme included.

I would like to sort my characters by Genre/Game type. I am using the MFJ screenpack and the character bfile looks odd, there are about 10 BLANK icons, then about 15 Characters followed by more BLANKS. Then there is the ---------------- and then it starts again. Can some one explain this format or explain how to orgainze my characters with this SP
Thanks

Hi, I downloaded Xmugen from a site which was called Upload and was 1.55gb with a bunch of viruses but anyway....I have that version of Xmugen and I was wondering if there was a way to add more characters without making them appear over the character's Preview face? Perhaps, it's a different screenpack or something i'm missing? Any help if you even understand what i'm saying...lol
thanks

so... i just acquired xtreme xmugen. i just copied all of the files to f:\games\xmugen. when i load it, it goes to the loading screen, then seems to try to load from my dvd that contained all of the files that i copied to the xbox's hdd. do i have to change xmugen's root directory in some config file? how do i do it?

I love you! But in a totally NOT gay way
One question, does it have to be in E: ? and can I change it to F:?
-
It is purposefully set to e. I discovered after awhile the xbox uses e to cache. So e setups work much smoother. But of course it can be changed. There are also several f drive setups floating around. I can provide one if needed then you would just swap the data chars stage and sound folder. I would stay on e and try to use a top of the line upgraded large ide hd with high access rate/cache. I think I got better gains from that than anything else I did along + mugen/cfg editing smart stage/sound choices....
-
Hi Sean,
My F mugen isn't working right. This one launches unleash-x as a front end first. Yours I think is different. I'd like to give your F setup a go if you have it. I already have the full E load from that link you provided so I already have the chars/sound/data/stage stuff. Thanks!
-Robo
-
Understood. Will try my best to get those files uploaded for you. It may take some time sadly as I need to invest in a router. Stupid vista pc I am using currently doesn't allow me to ftp to my xbox via a usb to ethernet adaptor I normally use.. Argh. No drivers....Oh well. There may even be a way to just edit that setup slightly. I will check that too. To be honest though robo you want to run this off e. If you have a fat f I would simply make space on e by sending the stuff there to f. It just runs better.
-
My screen is b0rked on a widescreen 28inch CRT monitor (non-HD).
Its wayyy to big and the aspect is off.
Does anyone know what video mode i could change in DATA\mugen.cfg?
Tried different ones but it wont change.
Edit: its really ironic that the first xmugen forum is still up and the new one is giving fatal errors.
This post has been edited by Azriphale: Oct 30 2007, 09:33 PM
-
I also find that ironic. As for the screen. Well does it even appear onscreen at all? I think the problem you might be having is actually an XBOX version issue. a 1.6 xbox actually has a zoomed in screen (which i prefer after much thought) the 1.0 has the actual whole screen....
the whole old site still up thing is very funny and I have thought about hijacking it....
This post has been edited by xmugen360: Oct 30 2007, 10:10 PM
-
it appears on screen alright. Kinda zoomed. Its just one of those things that annoys me after spending so long looking for xmugen 4.9 there yesterday. Fair play to r1sky for sorting out that annoying G:/ drive requirement.
Yes its a version 1.6. Didnt know video modes could be attributed to select versions. I guess i will have to deal with it. xmugen360, i dont think i could see your sendspace files, only your recently downloaded/favourited.
As for hiijacking the old forums, theres only one forum not locked, the general discussion. We could try Mirc and logging on to #xmugen on EFNET, went there yesterday but i got no responses. Im not sure whether they were bots or what.
-
yeah if you used a 1.0 it's not zoomed in. The thing is after playing alot on 1.0's and 1.6 i like the 1.6 zoom in. It's a very very unique way to play mugen in light of how linmugen or winmugen normally looks. It makes the fighters appear slightly larger. You just need a 1.6 friendly screenpack.
Check out my channel all of these vids are done with a 1.6
http://www.youtube.c...?user=seanp2500
-
If you could reccomend a pack thats compatible or even a link it would be great.
Im finding it hard to search for packs (even to rename and relink).
Thanks for all your info dude.
-
I have like Duracelleur Kurumin CFEM and Brokn Mugen. I will try and upload xmugen converted versions asap....
-
I managed to get sf3rdmugen and Battle Zero downloaded and converted. It was just a case of renaming and so forth. With battle zero there was a lot of chinese/japanese readmes that had to be deleted before they go on the xbox. The characters mess up the transfer. I found that xmugen renamer to be useful, just done the chars, sounds, stages and screenpack.
Luckily i spotted that i had to have the original xmugen\data\mugen.cfg. With the stages and motif all linked properly. I know what im doing now. Suppose it was a matter of trial and error. I am also thankful that the winmugen and linux mugen files are basically the same(minus the emulator).
Now its just a case of getting as many full packs as possible, id rather that to picking single chars and stages and editing screenpacks.
-
Yes. Basically the xbox lacks the font files for the Japaneese characters/letters so those files will cause errors. Simply save a copy on ur pc. You can translate them in fact a friend was starting a stie to translate this data. But the XBOX no likey that data you are right. I will try to get you more screenpacks.

Hey guys what's up? I'm new here and just wanted to say what's up to everyone. It's cool to see some people dedicated to making Xmugen constantly better and available for everyone. Keep up the good work. I do have one question for you guys if that's cool? Sorry if it's off topic or anything though. I'm using the XMUGEN 4.9 F drive version on my xbox right now. I was using an older version that was only meant for the E drive I'm not sure exactly what version it was. Here's the problem, after installing the 4.9 version it is now way harder for me to do any specials or any moves like that (ryu's prjectile, other projectiles, etc.) anything other than basic attacks. You can still do them I noticed, you just have to do them way faster than what I'm used to. Can someone please tell me how to set it to a slower speed (not slower game speed, just how fast you have to do the moves to activate them)? I was thinking it could be something to do with mouse sensitvity in one of the xmugen files or something since the xbox controller acts like a keyboard and not a regular controller and the left joystick would be the mouse. Just a thought, but I'm sure you guys know the real answer. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it a lot. You guys take it easy.
-
Does anyone have an XMugen setup with 1GB swapfile that installs into F:\Emulators\XMugen rather than F:\Games\xmugen ?
-
I'm new to Xmugen.....so forgive me.
I have installed a build of Xmugen to my F drive, and now when I try to launch it, it boots straight to a black screen.
Any help would be great.....I'd love to play this thing!!!
-
i think its Xmugen 4.9 built for F drive install. I read in a very old post that I needed Xdsl for this to run. I done an install of that ( Ive done the linux thing before) and it runs fine, except it doesnt recognize my 3rd party wireless controller. Is the Xdsl really needed? please say its not these days. the thought of a fighting games thats traditional 2D and has ump-teen hundred characters!
-
Since GentooX and Xdsl are both Linux for Xbox......would I be able to play Xmugen from GentooX like you do from Xdsl?
I put this question here instead of the nix*on xbox forum cause I really want Xmugen running on my Xbox.
And Ive read you dont even need Xdsl or anything to run Xmugen now, but I cant get it working either way. ( with or without Xdsl working)
Im drowning in it right now......help!
-
OK.......I now have a working copy of Xmugen on my xbox. What I am now wondering is how to add characters.
If I understand correctly...I need to edit the select.def file. Seeing as how my dev skillz are up to par with the likes of Napoleon Dynamite (and you know he gots skillz).......Im screwed.
Maybe not.......Once I understand what Im lookin at, Ill be ok.
I Hope.
-
Guess what......Now that Ive spent more than 3 hours editting that damn file....Xmugen wont even load now. I am now pulling hair out at the roots. Before I added characters it worked fine. Now the piece of crap will start.....askes me what screenpack I want....I choose screenpack... it boots thru Gentoox ( just like before)..., and then it loads a solid white screen while my LED blinks green. WTF is going on here?
PLEASE!!!!!!!! Help me!!!!!!!
-
What the hell does this mean......."Joystick/dev/input/js1 non present" mean?
-
I give up. This thing is the biggest load of CRAP I have EVER seen. I finally get a version that runs.......But you cant select anything except the "Kung Fu Man" Screenpack.....the only charater you can get is Kung Fu Man......and half the time it says some wack crap about the joypad. I spent all night trying and trying to get this infernal thing to work right.....editing this file...editing that file. I added over 600 Freaking characters and almost 50 different stages......I put them in that stupid select.def file, only to find out that THIS THING BARELY WORKS!!!! Deleted it off the HDD.....reinstalled it to the HDD. Doing this....Doing that. I mean, for real.......you gotta work at f*ckin Microsoft to get this damn thing to run or something? Everything I have EVER tried with my Xbox comes out Peaches-n-Creme.....except the one thing that I would really love to have running on it. My Dash.....GREAT! All my other Emulators.....7 total....work! Over 170 movies.....Play GREAT. More than 20 complete seasons of Television......All FINE! WHY? Why the hell cant I get this stupid thing to work????? Would someone who has know how PLEASE get me going? PLEASE? Seeing as how I blew my whole night trying to get this thing going......I wont be back on here till around 3-4 pm today ( gotta sleep sometime). Please....no " you dont know what ur doing" or BS like that.....This isnt my first Modded Xbox.......this is only my first Xmugen.
-
I'm having my own problems with Xmugen......but I think you use Xmugen Renamer.
-
That vid is not gonna help me.....I have had it running couple times, so Ive seen it boot.
There WAS a link to a vid on how to install to xbox, but with so many versions who knows if that would have helped. I say "would have" cause I watched it....or tried to watch it. The video is blurry all the way through...and the guy speaks with a very strong Indian ( from India, not Native American) accent. You cant see or understand much of anything.
This is just too bad.....I really wanted to experience Mugen and I dont play games from my PC. I thought this would be perfect for me.
Guess I'm just S.O.L. for the moment.
-
I never have been one to just give up.....so here I am, sweating it out .......AGAIN.
It would be ALOT simpler for others to enjoy if anyone with a working copy of this would upload it somewhere......and then maybe post a link?
P.S. - I started this a week ago with hair to my waist..........I am now bald from pulling it out!
-
OK.....This is the one I now have on my xbox.
Here is the link....Xmugen m3troMOD v1
This IS the ONLY version I can get to run properly.
I still cant add characters, and let me tell you......Playing KUNG FU MAN, well, it aint no big thrill.
I still cant add stages, and let me tell you.....You see where this is going? Right?
What is going on?
I hear about so much success with this thing, but Im startin to wonder how it gets the hype it does.
If it is such a pain in the butt to get going....and a pain to update...and a pain to add characters...or stages and music.
Seems to me like it would be more fun to play, not to have to re-dev.....just to see one guy in a karate suit.
-
I uploaded the my original 4.9 f drive xmugen make sure you place it in f:games and unleash x dash.
go here to get it. let me know what happens. Again what controllers are you using if you have the dvd ir in one of the ports or any thing besides the controllers i told you about it will crash. Good luck.

Four Twenty what version is your xbox if its v1.6 you might really be S.O.L.
-
That should not affect it. The only thing a 1.6 affects it the over scan issu.I had a 1.6 and xmugen work just fine. broken mugen screen p. should help with the over scan issue.
Hey tabasco what screenpack are u looking for.
-
brokenmugen
The renamer just isnt working for when i try brokenmugen
-
i will pull it from my xbox and upload it on the website listed above give me 5 min
-
Thanks alot that will be a big help!
-
what is Slim-Xmugen? just a trimmed down version?
marveldcbruno.....mam....u have been a God send. thanx, man
-
marveldcbruno......You have done it!!!!
Slim Mugen works GREAT from my unit.
Even detects my characters.
Only problem I am having now is screenpack. I need one that will show all 600+ characters I have.
I have tried the Copy over DATA folder and Sound folder....except I dont have a sound folder, so that wont work.....( I tried...it didnt work). I also have a screenpack that you upped....brokenmugen.....But I could not get that one working either.
I found a screenpack I would love to have called...AlphA-XMUGEN_ScreenPack....and it was designed for XMugen, but that one doesnt work for me either. I know it works cause I first seen it in a youtube vid.....but I must be doing something wrong.
Every time I try adding a screenpack...no matter what I try.....Slim Mugen always shows "Basic" in the screenpacks section. When I hit "A" button to select it, the loader runs then gives me the old "JS1" thing. But like I said earlier....if I just drag-n-drop Slim Mugen into my emulator folder and drop my Select.def into the data folder, it works GREAT.
But I still need a new screenpack.
Man......I must sound like a real douche. ( I can say douche on here, right? Douche is not a cuss word.)

No prob guys enjoy. I know how hard it is to get this thing correct. It took me about a year to get it to even load. So i know how frustrating it can be. Its mostly trl and error. If you need anything else let me know.
-
anyone have EVE Battle for Xmugen......I couldnt get Xmugen Renamer to work on the one I have.
-
xbox266......I had all these same problems just days ago...did you read through this thread?
Like pages 9-10? Anyway...... download Slim Mugen. If you need a screenpack get BrokenMugen.
These worked for me.....thanks to marveldcbruno.

^ okay, so i don't even know what i was doing earlier. i was just following what i saw ona YouTube vid.
anyways, i'm still stuck. unleash X starts up, i go to Screenpacks, and then select Basic (i haven't tried to add any Screenpacks because i just want to get it working first before i start customizing it). i get the black boot screen with all the text (and that guy's picture up at the top). things seem to be going well but when it gets to the "Microsoft Xbox Controller S found" part, i get some errors (i think...it says something like "0 records in" "0 records out" blah blah blah) after that and it just stops/freezes. btw, my LED turns orange/yellow during the boot sequence. i don't know if that's normal...
i've tried to describe my issues the best i can. somebody please help me!
-
just download what I told you to......drop it into your F:/Emulators. Thats it.,......that is what worked for me after a week of trial and error on other builds of Xmugen. Go back through and read the thread......
-
okay, so when i launch Slim Mugen from F: emulators and i go to Screenpacks and then select Basic it freezes right there. i don't even get to the boot screen.
when i launch Slim Mugen from F: Games and i go to Screenpacks and then select Basic it goes to the boot screen (the one with the picture of the guy at the top) and then a bunch of text comes up on the screen but then it just stops and freezes.
-
226 which one are you using 4.9 or slim.
Four twenty. download 4.9 and in the data folder is the Mugen Fighting Jam Screen pack MFJ its just like the EVE but better. Try that and let me know if its what your looking for.
-
i'm using Slim Mugen (...i think). the .rar file is called "Slim_XMugen_%2B_new_skin.rar" and the folder inside the .rar is called "XMugen". that's the folder i tried putting in F: emulators and F: Games with results as i stated above.
-
226 do u know what exactly is says. so i can better determine your problem. also do you launch from unleash x or xbmc or other.
what i think you should also try is download the 4.9 xmugen from the link in pg 10 and place that in f:games and try to launch it from file explorer in unleash x and try that. For some people slim work other 4.9 is better.
-
i tried using both 4.9 and Slim and they both freeze on the boot screen. here's some of the text from when it freezes:
4.9: "???Games/xmugen/swapfile/r1skyswap: No such file or directory"
"???/dev/hdb is write-protected, mounting read-only"
"???open failed."
"???/dev/hdb is write-protected, mounting read-only"
"???open failed."
"???/dev/hdb is write-protected, mounting read-only"
"???open failed."
"???/dev/hdb is write-protected, mounting read-only"
"???open failed."
Slim: "???0 records in"
"???0 records out"
"???ting up swapspace version 1, size= 536866816 bytes"
"???: bad accress: block=0, count=1"
my screen calibration gets all messed up when i get to the boot screen so i can't see the first little part of all the text on the left side (hence the ???).
-
Linux is case sensitive so lower case the g in games and try that if that doesnt work then i may be that u have a bad drive. How big is your drive.
-
You also might whan to try E:emulators or E: games if it boots off of the E part you might have a bad drive.
Sorry what i meant to say if it boot of of e and not f you might have a bad drive.
-
i tried changing the "G" in "Games" to lowercase and still the same results.
i tried running 4.9 and Slim from E: and still the same results.
-
my hard drive is a 300GB.
thanks for your help anyways. i guess i'll have to stick with WinMugen for now.
-
Yeah i heard of Xmugen having prob with hard drives bigger than 250. Maybe re partition your drive.
-
Im running off of a 1.6 xbox with xbmc as my dash. I have a 300 Gb W-D HDD with E drive (of course) and the rest of my space on F Drive. Mine runs smoothly.....no problems at all.
What I done was un-rar Slim Mugen. Transfered Xmugen to my F:/Emulators folder. I then launched it from XBMC (which loads the unleash-x looking loading screen for Xmugen.....not the one with Akuma in the flames) and its been smoooooooooth ever since. Just listen to marveldcbruno.....he got me right.
Ill try that screenpack.......I like BrokenMugen but it doesnt have slots for all my characters. Thanks again marveldcbruno.
-
I previously had xmugen runing fine with my 80gig hd, but i just upgraded yesterdy to a 350. So I kept everything as is and transfered to the new drive. but now it won't load, so I was wondering if anyone had also had a similar issue with an upgrade
-
For those of you frustrated, trying to get mugen on to a DVD, I had a talk with r1sky today in irc. Culminating his experience, and my week of wasting DVDs, this is what you need:
www.osysi.net/files/xboxmugen_dx_v1-1.zip
There's a big long readme that's easy to read - so read it!
-
livebox try the slim mugen see if that works. It happen to me and I did the slim mugen in E or F emulators and it worked.
-
hello everybody. i finally was able to upgrade my hdd recently so now i have a reason to ask questions.
a lil about myself you ask? well i am a real splintercell agent except unlike sam fisher, i make it look good. when im not working or running down the 5-0 with my gangstas while doing drug runs, i like to save humanity by slaying an onslaught of zombies or what they prefer to be called. life empaired, and you know im great at it. ive read the zombie handbook.
anyway back on topic. i am having the same problem as xbox226. i have tried about 5 different versions and same 2 different out comes. with the slim version when i select the basic screenpack. it just freezes right there. with the other ones it gets to the part with the pic of the guy but after a few lines my xbox light turns orange and the last line says:
kernel panic:attempted to kill imit!
i tried lunch them on both unleash and xbmc, from games and emulators folder on both e and f drive including the root of drives. i have had no luck at even booting just once. i dont think its the hdd bc iv tried this on three consoles. only one has a upgrade. the console im trying to get it to work on has a 500gb hdd, 64mb memory, version 1.0, xbmc dash, and softmod. now is there any luck for me bc i love killing zombies but not as much as i love fighters. thanks in advance.
-
i Downloaded the xmugen 4.9 and it doesnt work....it just got to the linux screen where they have the copywrite etcc..but nothing loads...is there some sort of conifguration i have to do to make it work..?
-
where did you get the 4.9 mugen.
yujinha i think your problem might be a partition problem. How did you partition with unleash x. And where are you launching from e or f
-

i Downloaded the xmugen 4.9 and it doesnt work....it just got to the linux screen where they have the copywrite etcc..but nothing loads...is there some sort of conifguration i have to do to make it work..?
on that note i also tried the slim muge and it works fine but i wanna try the xmugen i have which comes with over 500 char...any suggestions on what to do...what do i need to do?
-
i used XBpartitioner_1.0 to create my partitions and i tried from both e and f.
-
Okay go to pg 10 on this forum and on there about half way down is a link. I uploaded xmugen 4.9 E which is the xmugen for the e drive there is a f and e it on pg 2 of that link. Try that and let me know if that works for you.
Make sure you put it e games and launch from unleash x. Let me know if that works cause a lot of people are having the same prob.
I also forgot remember that it need a 1 gig swap to work. So if your e drive is all filled up try to free up some space. move emulator and apps to the f drive if you can.
-
So now i downloaded unleashx and launched the xmugen and i finally got the screen where the guys picture comes out but i get "Moun: Mounting /dev/hdb on /cdrom failed : No medium found
kernal panic: attempted to kill init! "
-
So i figured that i have ftp the xmugen to the E: instead of F/ and it loads fine the only problem is that i cannot ftp the whole xtreme xmugen to E: because it doesnt fit. So how can i use all the characters, stages and whatever else i need from xtreme xmugen if the dont fit in E: where should i put them in F: so when its time to load the character and stages it would show up...

What's going on man, I have been using xmugen for about a year and a half now. Like you I had to figure out most of the stuff myself. I have used Guybird's setup, AMOC's setup, and this new R1isky's setup. I will try to help you with your problem. I have never used the slim though. I have had all 3 setup's running at one time once but I don't suggest doing it.
That error that you are showing only happens to me when you select xmugen and it tries to boot but it is not where it is supposed to be. Like you installed it in E/Games and it is supposed to be in F/Games or something. Depending on whose setup you are using check the configure file and make sure everything matches up. If using R1sky's make sure you put it in either E/Games or F/Games depending on which one you downloaded.
Also I have never been able to xmugen through xmbc. Some say their is a fix but I would rather boot it from another dashboard. So if you have xmbc put another dashboard in applications. Boot applications then evo or avalaunch then boot xmugen.

You need to get another setup, if using R1sky's E/Games then download his F/Games setup because he came out with 2 so you could choose. R1sky's is one of the easier ones to configure so I would stay with his but there are others out there. Ever since the xmugen site shut down not many help with this so I know it can get fustrating. In other setups you can change this in the configure file.

i Tried the F; verson one and it didnt work, just the e; one is there a way i can leave the xmugen on e and boot the games from f?

Nah, there is no way or no easy way to do that. Try this setup here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4Q0D251M
Stig87 made this screenpack booter so you can use more than one screenpack at a time it is easy to configure try and get one screenpack booted and see if this works for you.
Also check the configure file if it's on E change all lines to F. Read the instructions carefully.
-
ok i dont know what i did but i finally got this game working on the e drive. was even able to add some characters but still need a lil help.
1. is there a way to play with 480i?
2.how do you change the screenpack?
3.how can i play this on my f drive?
-
hmm, as what some ppl have stated. if your running xmugen on a HDD bigger then the FATX limit, ie 250gb+. you need to make sure your hdd is formatted properly. You need to use custom partitions or you will get errors booting xmugen. correct me if im wrong but softmods dont support custom partitions. I myself run xmugen on a 500gb drive and my chip is flashed with the latest xecuter bios that supports custom partitions, xmugen boots and functions fine.
running xmugen from xbmc is supported now i think. a friend/brandon had issues booting xmugen from xbmc since that was his main dashboard. he said he submitted a bug regarding the issue and he said it was fixed as of the latest builds. it was just a back/front slash issus. it was booting with "/" instead of "\". I suggest installing a fresh copy of the latest xbmc SVN build. if it doesnt work, i believe i have the xbmc script fix that can help launch xmugen via xbmc.
hdtv is still unsupported. although, there are some reports of users getting as low as 480p resolution.
if anyone is still after my last builds, they are located here: http://uwizone.com/r1sktaker/
ps: thanks to bmud. i already knew this but never got to fix it. the original dvd batch creating thingy i released is bugged. i had an old copy that 100% fully worked. i tried this not too long ago again and it indeed made me a 100% booting dvd. make sure you have nothing xmugen related on your hdd or you can just rename the folders, so the dvd doesnt look for them. this is why i never got to releasing a fix. it needs a lot of work to edit stuff out, so the dvd version wont search the hdd for xmugen files, only its swap file.
the file that bmud repackaged for me: www.osysi.net/files/xboxmugen_dx_v1-1.zip
my original: www.uwizone.com/r1sktaker/mugen/xboxmugen_dx_v1.rar
-
also it would be freat if r1sky could explain how to add screen packs to either his f or e build. ive been trying brokenmugen but cant get it to work. thnx
-
On pg 10 there is a link for the brokenmugen screen pack it is in three parts download and put all in 1 brokenmugen folder then drag and drop in your data folder in either e or f.
-
and this will work for riskys f\Games build? do i have to delete the mfj folder? and which file should i then edit for the chars and stages? brokendef or broken2def? thnx. thought the folder was just for the slimbuild.
-
You can delete thh mfj and just go with the brokenmugen and then edit the brokendef and it should work.
-
what about for slim mugen bruno? I can't figure out how to do it.
EDIT: Lemme give you an idea of what I've done so far. I got Slim Mugen to work, everything loads up fine. I have no idea where to put the brokenmugen folder.. I read in a previous post that you extract all three of the archives to a folder called brokenmugen and then put it in the data folder? I'm not sure if this is right or not. Then, you said you have to edit the brokenmugen.def file... I looked but I couldn't find this file. I don't really know what goes where.
-
And once I have the brokenmugen folder inside the data folder, how exactly do I get it to run? I'm not sure what to do after this step.
-
once u have all the contents of the three files in one folder named brokenmugen in side that folder is the brokenmugen def file edit it. Then in slim all you do is launch the default.xbe file and it it brings you to a unleash x launcher and then select the screenpack.
-

ok, there are several def files in there and i'm not sure which one you're referring to.
-
the broken.def file
-
I'm not seeing a broken.def file.. I checked the 3 brokenmugen rar files just in case I accidentally deleted it or something. It's not in any of them. Do you mean brokenselect.def? If so, it should still be able to load with the brokenmugen screenpack without having to edit that. Everything I've tried so far sends me to the default mugen screenpack.
-
Did you delete the default screen pack and sorry i meant the brokenselect.def try that.
-
I deleted the xmugen/data/kfm folder, is that what you mean by default screenpack? Anyway, its gone and it's still giving me the default screenpack when I load it up.
-
that cant be right it should load brokenmugen. Delete the kfm folder and then drag the brokenmugen folder over. and when you launch the screenpack tab it should launch brokenmugen.
-
ok heres my setup:
1. dl. r1skys f drive setup - installed in f:\Games\xmugen
2. it works, I can boot through xbmc (my dashboard)
3. i can add characters & stages by editing the select.def in Games\xmugen\data\MFJ
evrything hunkydory!
____________________
now to the biggie:
i CANNOT change the screenpack, ive done all suggested thing:
1. dl brokenmugen form pg 10 (thnx for the file btw)
2. copy the brokenmugen folder into the data folder Games\xmugen\data\brokenmugen
3. edited my characters and stages in Games\xmugen\data\brokenmugen\brokendselect.def
NOW when i boot the linux screen pops up as usual, the swapfile gets mounted and then where it would usually boot into the first loading screen - it pops back to the linux boot screen and adds the following line:
allegro application is running on vt 2
followed by joystick related mumbojumbo - finishing with the line:
joystick /dev/input/js1 not present
i then edited the mugen.cfg file in Games\xmugen\data\brokenmugen and changed the relevant joystick information to the details in mugen.cfg in Games\xmugen\data (suspecting that as the mfj screenpack worked it might help brokenmugen to work) - it didnt!!!
it still gives me the same error.
i use a logitech cordless joypad that works flawlessly with the original r1sky f drive setup, ive tried with an original ms s controller and still the same.
HELP!! please - and please more tips for other screenpacks (i see that the brokenmugen file on pg 10 differs in its structure from the original brokenmugen on the official dl page - have there only been xmugen specific changes to it?)
-
I download all the the folder and put all the files in one folder and put it in the data folder and it works these are the ones that are for xmugen. The only thing i can think is that you still need to launch from unleash x and see if that works. Only other thing i can think of is that you have to check make sure you dont have a brokenmugen folder inside a brokenmugen folder with the files.
i forgot to mention you did download all three parts brokenmugen, brokenmugen2 and brokenmugen3
-
QUOTE(marveldcbruno @ Apr 1 2008, 09:31 PM)

that cant be right it should load brokenmugen. Delete the kfm folder and then drag the brokenmugen folder over. and when you launch the screenpack tab it should launch brokenmugen.
I know, it doesnt make any sense but that's what's happening.
I think it would be a good idea if someone would upload slim xmugen with the brokenmugen screenpack already installed because this is a lot more complicated than it looks..
-
i will upload tonight when i get home
I want to look at your xmugen setup upload it to mediafire if you can. I will still send you the slim with broken already installed.
-
i was also having the booting problem with r1sky's F drive setup, even though my drive is custom partitioned and < 150GB. His E drive setup is working great but the partition is too small for me and i don't want to reformat. So, now i am trying slim mugen and am running into the same trouble as lioconvoy and smokeyfingaz.
The slim readme suggests changing the config.xml file to add more screenpak items, and implies you should add lines like
<Item Action="F:\Emulators\XMugen\Menu\mugenpak2.xbe" ...>Broken</Item>
<Item Action="F:\Emulators\XMugen\Menu\mugenpak3.xbe" ...>MJF</Item>
to create new menu items to select from (i.e. things to select to choose a specific screenpak). This implies that we should have multiple mugenpak*.xbe files in our Menu directory, but the distribution as is only has one. The readme also says we should create matching menulaunch files (i.e. menulaunch2 goes with mugenpak2.xbe), and that these files are what specify which pak should actually be loaded using the -r option:
./mugen -r brokenmugen& or whatever the screenpak is called. I can't figure out whether we actually needed different .xbe files for each menulaunch file, or whether renamed copies of the same .xbe will work each as long as the numbers match.
I think the simple fix to the problem if you only ever want one (non-default) screenpak is to change your launch (r1sky) or menulaunch (slim) file to say ./mugen -r <whichever one you want>& instead of just ./mugen & (Don't forget the &)
But that means we'll have to edit the launch file anytime we want to change screenpaks. If someone who has slim_mugen working with multiple paks and can select which pak they want from the menu could post their Config.xml or tell us about the contents of their Menu folder (how many .xbes, how many menulaunch files) I think that might let us solve the mystery.

I spent about 4 hr try to get it to work. Ive never had this much problems. But I think im close I will post when ive got it working.
-
Sounds like you are getting the hang of it, once you get Stig's working you will be able to have them all on your xbox and play when ever you get ready.
As far as the exit out xmugen by turning it off, I did some reading and it seems you have to do the same with linux if you are using xcromwell. Since xmugen is basically a port of linmugen and uses things that linux uses there probably isn't a fix for that.
I haven't gotten MKA yet, but like you I am a big MK fan, the funny part about this is about a year and a half ago I found out about MKP 4.1 by accident looking for emulators. It was hard for me to find help as well. Not too many people like putting up with xmugen. Now that I have been playing awhile being able to have characters from all the old 2D fighters on one game is cool. If you get a chance I suggest getting a screenpack and get characters you can find. If you need help ask me, because with mugen characters get more moves and can do crazier things then they could do before.
Also check out some of the OpenBOR mods at www.lavalit.com, they are like mugen but are games like Final Fight and Double Dragon. Some OpenBOR games you need to check out are Mortal Kombat Konquest, A Tale of Vengeance, and one more Mortal Kombat.
If you want to see what mugen characters and screenpacks I have check out my vlog at www.youtube.com/problemchild629
Hit me up if you have problems, and have fun.

Its nice to see that there is still a bit of life in XMugen still. I really want to get around to making some new launcher's as there are now quite a few complete XMugen packs out there that I'd like to keep completely intact without merging them into my existing setup. Problem is, most launchers are configured to launch from just inside /XMugen; I'd like my setup to look more like:
F:/Emulators/XMugen/
/Ultimate XMugen/
/Broken Mugen/
/Mortal Kombat Anthology/
Is anyone else interested in something like this? Or do you guys just pick one setup, and use it only? I really want to get all of my setup up and running smoothly, but I haven't been able to get my XMugen to launch. Somewhere along the line my launcher either stopped working, or has gotten corrupted as I only get the first few lines of the Linux loading screen to display, then it apparently freezes. Anyone have any idea why I'm suddenly getting this?

Uhh, yeah, any screenpack will work (although some might need to be modified a little bit). BTW, I just found out what was wrong with my XMugen. Someone just pm'd me about XMugen working on 500gig hard drives. At first I was going to reply yes, but then I realized mind hadn't worked since I upgraded to 500. I just now got a 750, and initially (like a dumbass) made a 700 gig partition. XMugen wouldn't run on it. I then made two 350gig partitions on it (F & G) and my XMugen magically works now! So it seems that somewhere between having 350 - 500 gigs on one partiton, XMugen (the Linux portion) won't boot correctly. Anyone here have XMugen working on a partition bigger than 350gigs?
-
when i use eve, just before the game starts i get this line:
error opening /dev/input/js1
any ideas on what im doing wrong?
-
Glad to hear you got it working GuyBird..
yujinha I get similar errors, something might still be in CAPS in the eve folder I would cheack that first.
I've been trying to get Sigh87s working on my F:/ but it keeps locking up on the DOS screen when I pick my screen pack from what I've seen every thing is in the right place and in lowercase. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
I would love to have multiple screen packs I just cant get the darn thing to work.
Problem Child on the xbox dash under games I have r1sky's it says The King of fighters I was wondering if I can change it from The King of Fighters to Mortal Kombat Anthology if so what do I edit?
Thanks!

well when i use the renamer on eve it says i have thirteen errors
-
I'm new with this but I'll try to help you till Problem Child gets online the man is a genius when it comes to Xmugen.
Are you using the newest renamer? If not I think Problem Child has a upload of it a page or two back.
What are the errors?

@yujinha yeah you can run EVE on xmugen, I can send you mine if you need it. What xmugen setup are you using I used to run it off Guybird's, but now I run it off of A Murder Of Crows.
@oxxmudxxo, I have never really thought about it I will see if you can change it though.
@guybird are you saying boot everything like emulators without booting an actual xmugen setup?
-
to be honest i dont kno anymore. i believe the linux gentoox loader (think that spelled wrong) i tried the slim mugen but when i start it i see unleash for a sec and it goes back to dashboard. im using MFJ as a screenpak right now but i want eve for the category select screen, the one with like 10,000 characters.
-
I use the one that holds about 1000, I have heard about the 10,000 one but have never tried it. Do you have one of the xmugen setups I posted a few pages back?
-
isnt that for a different screenpack?
-
QUOTE(yujinha @ May 23 2008, 11:40 PM)

Are you talking about the xmugen setup? If you are you can use any screenpack you want to use with any of those setups. Some come with screenpacks but you don't have to use those screenpacks if you don't want to. You can just replace the screenpack with one you want to use.
-
are you talking about the mkp files a page or two back?
-
Nah, I was asking if you have used R1sky's or Stig87's setups. Those Mkp files were for oxxmudxxo, he was trying to get them to work.

You posted it on a form I made before I came to this form heres the download for Stig87's.

-
well my problem is i cant boot from F drive becouse i have a 500gig drive. what i want to do is get get eve to work with mugen and when i know it works, format my hdd and give F only 20gigs and have the rest on G. also i have to use a booter becouse my dashboard is XBMC.
-
Why would you only put 20 on F and the rest on G? Kinda defeating the purpose I think. You just split it 250/250 on F & G.
-
im a very unorganized person. two places to put stuff is just going to confuse me.
-
So you want to play EveryOne VS EveryOne on you're E:/?
If EVE is under 4.5gigs than you should be able to use R1sky's and put it on E:/ to play it.
Do you need R1skys Setup, if so I'll upload it for ya. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
-
that would awesome! as for running off the E drive, i just want that fior now to make sure everything works. after i format it will got to f drive. is the eve you have the 1,000 or 10,000 character select?
-

I'm sorry what I ment is I can make a upload of just R1sky's with out the EVE screen pack...
I guess if you make a upload of the EVE Data folder I should be abule to fix it so it runs on R1sky's and I'll make a upload that all you need to do is drag and drop it in the Games folder on youre xbox.
If you have EVE just send/upload the DATA folder and I'll do the rest for ya. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
-
1. i have No idea how to upload.
2. its not just a data folder. there is also a font and plugin folder.

OK, first put the data folder and the font folder in a folder name it EVE then compress it/ WinZip or WinRar.
Then go to http://rapidshare.com/ and click on the browse button find you're compressed document "EVE" and click on it to upload it.
Then get the web sight that it gives you after its done and copy and past it on this form so I can download it and then I'll fix everything and reupload it for you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I'm pretty sure all I will need is the data folder and the font folder..

ok here is the link
http://rapidshare.com/files/117553697/EVE.zip.html
-
Here it is just unzip then put it in E:/Games on you're xbox..
http://rapidshare.com/files/117581849/xmugen.rar.html
Oh, I almost for got you need at least 1.GB of free space to run R1sky's do to a swap file. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Thank Problem Child he just showed me how to do this a few days ago. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

thankyou thank you thank you!!finally i have eve. even works from XBMC. now well this work on f drive or not.

Unfortunately no. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)
I think R1skys has one that is set to run on F:/ but I don't have it, I'll do some searching and try to find it for ya.
I've been trying to get Stig87's to work on F:/ but cant figure what I'm doing wrong. Stig87's would be grate because it lets you use a lot of diffrent screen packs.
Don't know if you know this but the charters will run real glitchy if you don't copy and past the common1.cns that's in the EVE folder in every charters folder.

Here's R1sky's for F:/
http://rapidshare.com/files/117649274/xmug...drive_.rar.html
It turned out I did have it but I could never get it working you might have better luck so let me know how everything goes..
How to use..
1.First extract,
2.Then copy the eve folder from the old R1sky's on E:/Games and paste it in the data folder of this R1sky's/xmugen.
3.Edit the mugen.cfg that's in the "data" folder like this..
10 lines down you should see this.
motif = data/MFJ/system.def
Change this to
motif = data/eve/system.def
After that put it in F:/Games on you're xbox and it supposed to work but it wont for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)
Good Luck!

yea i think i used that before and it didnt work for me either. thats why i gonna reformat my drive.
-
ok now im really confused. for starters the file you gave me for f drive didnt work but i transfered the file on e drive to f drive a that worked. then i transfered it to g drive a THAT WORKED wich i dont understand bc g drive is bigger than 350gigs. so now they all work except now they cant boot from xbmc. does any of that make sense?
-
This is what it says..
<Path>F:\Emulators\XMugen\Menu\</Path>
I'm pretty sure I tried it in the F:/games and F:/emulators..?
I'll try it again and put it in emulators just to make sure..
That's too bad about MKA I love that game, I hope they get everything work out.
Wish I can find a website that has all the FATALITYS, it comes with a beta move list but it doesn't have all the moves/fatalities.
Thanks for the heads up Problem Child, I'll give stig's another try.
Yujinha, That is weird I don't know what to tell ya there made for a specific drives if you can move it anywhere whats the point in making one for E:/ or one for F:/.
To tell you the truth it shouldn't be working you got me confused as well. Have you played it after moving it around dose it still play right?
-
so far it plays right except one thing. i dont kno if this is how the game is but when i finish the game with kungfu man i get some kind of error and get kicked back to the text prompt. it was happening on the e drive so thats why im not sure if thats a problem. also it will boot from XBMC but i have to use the XTV skin which is cool bc i use that anyway.
-
Problem Child,
I put Stig's in F:/emulators it still locks up at the DOS screen.
It might be that some how I'm messing something up with the screen pack if you ever have time can you upload one of you're smaller screen packs for me to test out?
Yujinha,
You got me stumped, I tried it and I get a error on the DOS boot up screen.
As far it crashing at the end check the system.def in the eve folder you should see this line among others.
intro.storyboard = data/eve/ ;Intro storyboard definition (optional) *2001.04.01 NEW*
I'm not 100% sure but I think you need to type intro.def at the intro.storyboard = data/eve/.
like so..
intro.storyboard = data/eve/intro.def ;Intro storyboard definition (optional) *2001.04.01 NEW*
If I'm wrong Problem Child well let us know he fixed this for me on Mortal Kombat Project 4.5.
Problem Child, RULES!
lol.
-
@yujinha if you can play the game and get to the last boss you don't need to move it anywhere, you are just having a configuratio problem. What it sounds like to me is the ending isn't configured. Post your system def and I will show you what to edit.
A lot of people have trouble booting xmugen from xbmc, they say newer builds have fixed that problem but I am not sure.
@oxxmudxxo, that is the only reason I can see that it doesn't work. If it says F/Emulators go ahead and try it again maybe even add another screenpack.
-
here it is
http://rapidshare.co...system.def.html
i wasnt sure what system file you wanted. this was in xmugen/data/ not xmugen/data/eve.
i was wonder, i have an arcade stick for my ps2 and joybox for xbox, can i use it for xmugen?
-
here is the one in the eve folder
http://rapidshare.co...system.def.html
-
@yujinha Here i sent back your system def for eve. This should work for you.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/kwj9ab
@oxxmudxxo I am going to send you my menu files for mka later on for Stigs.
-
Thanks Problem Child.
I know you're on a dial up connection and I really appreciate you're uploads, it has got to be a pain in the @$$ for you to do..
Thanks.
-
@oxxmudxxo, here are the mka files
http://www.sendspace.com/file/rkzq1s
Put these in your Menu folder and your mka folder ( make sure your folder is called mka)
I used menulaunch9
You should be okay after this if not it is another problem

I am so glad i got back into the mugen scene its been awhile

since I lost my 26gb of mugen characters, stages, music and screenpacks
I am just now getting back into mugan and xmugen for my xbox
I can confirm I have slim Mugen running of of my softmadded via Ndure 500gb e drive via xbmc and it is working perfectly
I have yet to be able to get it working on my f or g drive I have partioned them in 32k
But on the linux bootuo screen i get a fatx error
I seem not to be able to find the xmugen renamer and yes i searched google for 2 days trying to find the blasted thing but could not find it grrrrrrr.......
anyhoo anychance someone could please point me to the right link in where to get it at?
-
This is the newest one I posted on page 16
Xmugen Renamer
http://www.sendspace.com/file/f17hrv
-
Unfortunately it still wont work Problem Child.
I FTP the four files and used them to copy over my menu and mka files but it sill will not work..
The only thing I'm guessing why it wont work is because of the version of my xbox.
I got this xbox the day they came out and it has the dreaded Thompson DVD drive, I'm guessing its the worst chip version out there for emulators too...?
I'm also having problems running Killer Instinct 1 on F:/ using KI XXX, KI2 works grate tho.?
It has been gives me random problems like this for a while.
When I first soft modded it I accidentally deleted around 80% of the HDD with out backing anything up, I got excited and screwed up deleting some emulators.
I had the RROD luckily it would still boot a game using the bios, I eventually got it working buy downloading a few things here and there and the people on the forms help ALOT!.
Right now I'm calling it my crap box. lol.
I'll get me a better xbox some time and try this again I know a place that sell used xboxes for around 70$.
Thanks for all you're help PC.
-
Yeah I got the xbox when it first came out as well, it stop playing games because of the Thompson drive so I asked MS to fix it and the wanted about 150 so instead I got it modded. I replace the drive with another thompson drive which was a mistake but it was cheap. So now it plays games sometimes. I have the KI emulator on mine I can run both games fine though I could send you my KI emu if you need it.
I will also send you a couple of my mka setup files and the configure file for Stigs if you want to try it one more time.
-
If you still have ideas why its not working I'll keep trying them. I really would like to get this running..
One question when running Stig's on F:/ do I need 1GB of free space for the swap file on E:/ or F:/ I had a gig free on both but I just added some more emulators a few days ago on E:/ so its under a gig right now.
I have a few KI emus but I like KIXXX v1.0 the best so far, I just got it awhile ago and it seems good.
I can get both KI & KI2 to run on E:/ I just have a problem with F:/ every now and then.
Anyways thanks PC.

Nah, it will make a swap file for what ever you have left on that drive. So if you have 700MB free it will make a 700MB swap file.
You think that xmugen is having problems on F drive?
If so with Stig's you can change where xmugen loads because it has a configure file.
You would have to change every line that says F though. For example you could have it in E/Games instead of F/Emulators.
But you would have to change it everywhere, especially all 3 or 4 times on the mugenpak lines.
-
That is something I need to try.
Most of my emulators are on E:/ and there roms are on F:/ I had to reroute the rom paths to F:/ I guess I can try the same thing with Xmugen.
Put Xmugen in E:/ the charters, sounds and stages on F:/ and change the directory for them to F:/...?
This sounds like it might work, I'll give it a try.
Thanks for the idea PC I should have thought of it before.
-
is there anywhere that has xmugen screenpacks availible that do not end up being a 404 page not found after clicking on the screenpack download button?
I am trying to find xmugen xtreme 2.0
-
You can use any screenpack for mugen to use with xmugen you just need to be able to configure it right to run.
-
I am using slim Xmugen right now and its has the old mugen in it.
Is there anyway to uprade the mugen to the 2002 version so I can get some Of the characters to work that will not work with the older mugen version?
I am trying to get some of the new hi-res characters to run but I am having no luck. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

how do u knw wat to configure?? is it the same for every screen pack or is there a special meth u use??
-
Their are a lot of xmugen setups out right now the newer ones like R1sky's or Stig87's are some of the easier ones to use. Once you get your setup depending on what you are trying to do, for example you can only use 1 screenpack with R1sky's and you can put up to 11 or 12 on Stig87's.
To configure the screenpacks for R1sky's is the easiest all you have to do is make sure that the fight.def and the system.def contents can be found by the setup. Take all the contents of the data folder and name it something like mka (Mortal Kombat Anthology) if that was your screenpack.
change lines like
spr =system.sff
to this
spr =data/mka/system.sff
You do this so it can be found in your xmugen setup.
With Stig87's you will have more than one screenpack in it so you have to edit like I said above, and you would have to edit the menulaunch file.
It would look like this
#!/static/ash
sleep 7
cd ..
./mugen -r pack&
sleep 1
.
To this
#!/static/ash
sleep 7
cd ..
./mugen -r mka&
sleep 1
.
Then what I do is make sure the menulaunch, menu, mugenpak.cfg, and mugenpak.xbe are in the Menu folder and the mka folder. and everything is ready. You should have up to 10 or 11 menulaunch files so if you choose to use menulaunch4 then you have to use menu4, mugenpak4.cfg, and mugenpak4.xbe.
-
when i edit the menulaunch file i get this,
/linuxrc:47: ./menulaunch1: not found
any ideas?

Yeah, that happened to me a long time ago when I was using Guybird's setup, his and Stig's are kind of similar. That usually has something to do with your launch file or menulaunch with Stig's. Try another menulaunch file other then that it would be hard for me to help you, I am kind of hands on with that kind of thing I would have to be able to see how you got it setup.

Let me ask since it is apparent you guys would know. I just got a hold of the xmugen extreme and you have no idea what a breathe of fresh air it is to literally drag and drop this massive thing into the F drive and it boots right up with no problems.
My question I wanted to ask is if there is any way to adjust the screen size to compensate for tv overscan? If I am not mistaken mugen was picky with video pic size and you could not tweak it so to speak, but I want to be sure. I would love to be able to shrink the screen down a little so characters on the select screen, some wording and actual board play do not get cut off on the sides. I did try changing some of the options in the system.def and mugen.cfg with no luck. Is it possible to do anything or is this just a grin and bare it?

Not really, is everything spelled right I see you spelled mugen, mujen. The main thing is that the edited menulaunch is in both Menu and your screenpack folder. Also in the configuration file you can change the mugenpak line you used to mugenfightingjam to make sure you picked the right one. If you keep having problems send me the screenpack and I will see if I can get it to boot.

Is that the Hi Res screenpack? If so it is hard to get that to work properly in xmugen. For what ever reason when I load Hi Res screenpacks they appear so large you can 't really see what you are doing. I have asked for help configuring that for xmugen use, but I got no help in that area. Most people in the mugen forums either don't know or don't care about xmugen if they don't use it yourself. I already have that screenpack I will try to see if I can do something with it I had gave up on that for awhile.

Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE upload a working xmugen screenpack boot loader with a
couple of screnpacks working in them PLEASE ?
like
mkp4
and mfj
Okay I can do that, I will post my AMOC setup with about 10 or more working screenpacks. I will post this without characters and stages though to keep the size down and it will still be big. I got this setup from seanp2500 so big props to him. I have dial up connection so when I can get to a computer with cable or something I will post it just not today. If you want to see pictures of how it looks check a few pages back, and I will also post character packs when I post the setup.

thanks problem child. sorry for such a late response but i gave myself a break. started watching all the tv shows i put on XBMC. mostly sliders. anyway thanks.

Im pretty good at getting Xmugen to work. But my problem is getting the screenpacks to work.
Anybody have tut on this Iv used renamer to fix them but i always get errors. Using 4.9 xmugen. I hate to keep asking people to make screenpacks for xmugen when i can learn myself.
-
Would someone be as so kind to upload a working Broken Mugen screenpack for the path F:/Games/ without having to use XBMC to start it? Please help, I have been trying to get this to work for almost forever it seems
I'm using Evox too btw. I'm not sure if it matters or not but I've read in the previous pages that most you guys were using Unleashed X so I didn't know if it did or not.
-
Unfornatly,.
I've been trying to get a few screen packs to work with Stigs87's pack on F:/Games/ but have not had any luck....It locks up/crashes on the DOS boot screen.
I've tried a few things and I've finally give up...
A few pages back on this thread some one named "you're package" left a post saying that he had to format his HDD with a small portion of room on G:/ to prevent corruption or something.?.
I'm using a 40GB HDD with only a E:/ and F:/ portion.
I'm guessing we need to add a small amount of room on a G:/ portion of the HDD for it to work..... It really doesn't make any sense to me..
There is Risky's for E:/ that works grate, only problem is you can only use 1 screen pack.

Hi,
I've been a fan of XMugen for over a year and love to see my XBox used as the ultimate fighter. I had a copy of r1sky's version that I got off of torrents (XTreme XMugen anyone?) that I deleted off the hard drive to make space available on my E:\ partion (ltools turned krazie softmodded 1.0 Xbox running XBMC as dashboard; hoping to add larger HD later, so I am stuck with just E now). Now as I'm trying to install XMugen again, at first being the same r1sky XTreme version with EVE instead, I get this error:
QUOTE
/static/ash: cant access tty: job control turned off
It then goes into the usual Joy2Key1 & 2 errors. I then tried with MFJ and got the same.
Now I'm trying to use Stigs87's version (putting in various screenpacks in hopes of using in an arcade cabnet in the faar future), and it is still giving me the same error. I wasn't sure where to put the screenpacks at first, but after long forum reading I found out from (a very helpful) problem_child that they need to be in the data folder with their respective configurations inside its own folder. I try it and I still get the same problem. I've only tried it with MvC2 (as right now getting that running is the #1 priority; XMugen trumps the $60 game w00t!), so I'll try the others i've put characters into and get back to you guys. Any help would be very appreciated!

Sorry 4 double post, I guess I didn't know you can only edit once.
Found the problem:
My MvC2 was for Dos. I'm searching for a better version as I write. Also, it just gave me the usual errors I'd always run into (Mac = no renamer).
SSF2 worked! at least its better than nothing.

I have alot of stuff related to xmugen, but I wanted to know what you guys would want more. Since I have a dial up connection I have to make time to upload this stuff so I want to post what you guys would want. I can post all of it in time but what would you want first and I will try to make it happen this week.
1. Brokenmugen (my version of a full game)
2. Mortal Kombat Anthology (with extras from MKP 4.4 by Liquid Jake)
3. A Murder of Crows xmugen set up with around 10 screenpacks
4. Stig87's setup with a couple screenpacks no characters
-
Whats "BrokenMugen" whys it called Broken does it work?
I've never tried playing xmugen but would love to try it out could you send me # 2 MKA xmugen,
and any other working xmugen, with tons of various characters+stages(your best xmugen game not related to MK). One more thing I thought we couldn't upload links containing things like this? I'm guessing your just gonna upload setups/characters/stages, and not a actual working xmugen

This is for xmugen users (mugen on xbox). A lot of people have had a lot of problems getting screen packs, characters, stages, etc. to work so this is for them. Everything is already configured all you will have to do is install them on the proper drives.
In my folder there are 5 Xmugen files, you will need to download all 5 to extract. Once you have all 5 and extracted them and then FTP the Xmugen folder to F\Games and you are done.
In the Xmugen folder are
Brokenmugen (Full Game with chars,stages,sounds)
DC vs. Marvel screen pack
DC vs. Marvel screen pack (more slots)
Heroes vs. Villains screen pack
Mortal Kombat Anthology modified screen pack (with mkp 4.4 extras)
Lots of Stages and sounds
This is optional but if you like Mortal Kombat Anthology and Mortal Kombat Project 4.4 you can download all 3 parts of MKA4.4 for characters converted for the screenpacks. Put all characters in the chars folder and not the broken folder that is for the broken mugen full game. In MKP 4.4 the characters could do the Fujin Friendship, Sokram Lives Fatality, Blaze Mode, Summon Blaze, etc. Well I put all those extras in the MKA screen pack, and converted all the characters from MKA to do the extras.
If you already have those characters and dont want to download them you can do it yourself. You can copy the extra codes from the top of 4.4s common1.cns file and paste at the top of MKAs common1.cns file. Then you can use 4.4s fighfx.air and fight.sff and put them in MKA.
Then all you have to do is edit each character just like you did for 4.4. BUT I highly suggest you download mine because they are already edited and it might save you a lot of time.
NOTE: As of right now this character does not work -cage,stages/mk-mytho-prision-1.def,order = 2
He is the second character in the select def sp either change that line to this cage,stages/mk-mytho-prision-1.def,order = 0 so you dont fight him on arcade mode or you try to fix him. I forgot about this.
For my AMOC setup download all 4 parts and put this Xmugen folder in F\Emulators . You can have both of these Xmugen setups on your xbox at the same time if you want since this is on F\Emulators and the other is on F\Games. I personally use both at the same time.
Here is what is in this setup - No characters at all
AlphaXmugen screenpack
Capcom AllStars screen pack
CFEM screenpack
CVS2 screenpack
Duracelleur screenpack
EVE screenpack
KFM screenpack
Kurumin screenpack
MKP 4.3 screenpack
Marvel Super Heroes screenpack
Mugen Fighting Jam screenpack
MVC2 screen pack
SF3 screenpack
SF vs. MK screen pack (slightly modified)
SFZ3 screenpack
Slim EVE screenpack
Xmen COTA screen pack
DO NOT Pick DC vs. M 2 it does not work I forgot to delete it from the configure file
Lots of Stages, and sounds
I also uploaded the latest Xmugen Renamer for lower casing everything and Stage Viewer to check out stages before you put them on.
-
EDIT: I found out that my computer didn't split the files right and I have to add 5 more files for the first XMugen making it 10. You can still download the AMOC and run it I will be back with the extra 5 for the first setup later today.

The first setup with brokenmugen doesn't have any issues I just amde a mistake because instead of the 5 files you see there are actually 10. So I am going to try to upload the last 5 as soon as possible. That is the setup with the full game brokenmugen. You can download AMOC now everything is there and ready it just doesn't come with characters or stages. But all the screenpacks work except for that dc vm 2 I ptried to put on there. The johnny cage character that doesn't work is from that mka4.4 files you can either delete him or change the select def. But once the files with broken mugen are there everything should work fine.
Remember you need all 10 xmugen files and put the XMugen folder in F/Games on your harddrive and that's it. With AMOC put that Xmugen folder in F/Emulators.

Listen guys, sorry to be a pain in the ass but I was wondering if you could help me out....
I've managed to get xmugen up and running, but only in a green screen. I get that this is a video mode problem, but am out of ideas when it comes to fixing it! I've tried r1sky's version and the extreme version (which clocks in around 3gigs) and I just get the same result. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
Not sure what my xbox version is, but im running it through a HD tv with a bog standard SCART cable (my component sockets are taken up by my 360)
Surley there's a way to fix this without me buying new cables and switching them round? Just some setting I've missed?
I've googled my ass off and you're are my last hope.
Thanks, Chris

SPECIAL NOTE: To anyone who downloaded any of the first 5 Xmugen files please delete those and download the new 11. Sorry for any confusion, my computer split the files wrong and I decided to fix a couple of things that could cause any problems. These new 11 files should be free of anything that could cause crashes.

Cool, just what I wanted, download & Ftp.Thanks Problem Child for uploading these, I'm gonna try and download these files tonight.Hope Xmugens as cool as everyone says it is.
-
My God man, you rock. You just handed over everything I've been looking for, for like a year now. THANK YOU!!! This is definitely way better than being limited to only one version of mugen on your xbox at a time. The AMOC setup runs way smoother than a lot of other setups I've tried before in the past. One little thing I noticed that's wrong with the AMOC setup though, is that when you try to load the SNK screenpack, it loads the Capcom Allstars screenpack. Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks again, you truly do rock like a hurricane.
-
No problem man, which screenpack was it again and I will see if I can fix it.
-
It's the Capcom vs SNK screenpack (CVS2). It does the same thing that the Dc vs Marvel screenpack was doing before. I also got two more questions for you if that's cool, and I know they're probably dumb, so sorry about that. Can I delete the DC vs Marvel screenpack from the data folder now that it's not being used? And my other question is, will the MK characters you uploaded work on all the screenpacks that have Mortal Kombat as part of the theme or just with the MKA one? Just curious, I like the MKA screenpack a lot I just want to put those characters in with MK vs SF and the MKP screenpack also. Thanks again by the way for the uploads. I can't get over how cool these setups are. You're the man.
-
Hello, peeps. I asked a question on the mugen forums, but they mainly use mugen, not xmugen. So here goes. I'm trying to get the Capcom Fighting Evolution Max, or any screenpack for that matter, working on r1sky's 4.9 setup. My first time trying to modify a screenpack for xmugen. Need some help.
So, far, I've lowercased everything, and even "redirected" files to point to the correct folders, ex. motif=data/mfj/system.def to motif=data/cfem/system.def. Ok, however, when I go to load everything, it says it has trouble loading data/cfem/system.def. Can't figure out what I did wrong
Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated
-
OK, everything is pathed correctly, however, it still displays the same error. Due to the fact that the display for mugen doesn't fit in the screen properly, the first couple of words are cut off; says something "...... loading data/cfem/system.def" I downloaded yours and saw that you have cfem 1.6, I have the 1.7 version. The 1.7 is what I'm trying to use due to the better overall presentation. It technically should work seeing as it's not hi res or anything, but I haven't got it going yet. Also, I looked at the mfj that comes with the setup, and it isn't pathed the same way as you described, almost not at all
Are you sure it is done this way, or is it different for some screenpacks?
-
Thanks for the help Problem Child, you're like the most knowledgeable person on the internet when it comes to xmugen. I got the BrokenMugen setup too of yours, and it is frickin awesome. I tried getting the BrokenMugen screenpack to work on another version of xmugen before and could never do it so this is awesome. And yeah, if you could fix the CVS2 screenpack whenever you get some spare time that would be sweet. No need to hurry though, you provided plenty of stuff to mess around with for the next couple of months. Thanks again man, I appreciate it.
Oh yeah, quick question. Does anyone know if you can give stages random music instead of having to pick a song for them? I know you can't give characters random stages, so you probably can't do it with music either, but it's still worth asking. Thanks guys, take it easy.
-
Yep, the one at mugen infantry is the one I'm trying to get going, if you could that would be incredible
by the way, I really appreciate all the hepl and hard work you put in trying to help us out, much appreciated

PC, could you help me out. I downloaded the 11 xmugen files and unrared them together and the sencond file said it was broken/corrupt. So Iam re-downloading it as we speak to see if it was an error on my part. None the less I still got your xmugen setup(incomplete ofcoarse since it didnt unrar properly)and I tried to ftp it over to see if it would work regardless and It wouldn't let me ftp (Im guessing do to fat-! or 42 characters)....so my ? is did anyone else get the xmugen corrupt file & if not were you able to ftp it over & play it...what am I doing wrong.
ok so I downloaded it again and still broken
Xmugen part02
CRC failed in XMugen/chars/broken/demonictetsu/tetsu.snd.The file is corrupt
Im guessing there was a mistake while uploadin a character-So can you reupload the file again and let us know when you do thanks or do you think it would still run without that...

Damn, I was hoping something like this wouldn't happen. Reason being is I have dial up and had to use someone else's computer to upload this. I will tell you what it looks like the problem is just one character's sound file. FTP it over and if it works I will upload the problem character instead of the whole setup if not I will try to upload everything over.

What's up guys? Got a quick question that's been bugging the crap out of me if that's cool? Is there some way to fix characters that make xmugen crash? I know that dos2win works occasionally, and also fixing the movereversed thing sometimes, but is there any other way if those don't work? Could you maybe use some of the files from another version of the same character that do work on xmugen, to make the other one work? For instance, I found a new version of Colossus that has all the same moves as another one I have, and you do them all the same way, the new one just is faster and combos a lot better, so I'd rather use that one. Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm just desperate because I have a lot of characters like that. Thanks for any help you guys can offer, I appreciate it. Take it easy.
-
Any chance someone who has it all working can release a single zip file that I can extract and drop into my games or emulator folder?
There are so many file revisions and separate links that I've become lost.
Can someone please ZIP and up their xmugen folder complete with MKP already configured?
(if you can't upload it I can give you upload access to my FTP server, just PM me, and I'll see that it gets hosted)
Thanks

I wouldn't switch files from characters because people change things in the files when they do updates for their characters. And if the character is made by a different person they could have entirely different coding. What's wrong with the character you are trying to get to work, a crash at select or what?
-
Yeah I figured it wouldn't be a good idea to switch files, I just thought I'd ask anyways though. And yeah, they crash at the versus screen just like a lot of other amazing characters, it makes me angry. Some of them did work though. I did make backups of the characters and tried switching some files around anyways, just to see. They were all made by the same author and all have the same files setup, even a little sample picture. So I took an mvc2_sabretooth.cns which was from a working character, and replaced an mvc2_blackheart.cns with it in the blackheart that didn't work, and it made him work. Crappy thing is that it seems like he's missing some sprites now, and all the effects look like puke literally, and he fights weird now. I'm sure it's obviously because that file wasn't meant for him like you said, even though it kind of made him work, which is weird. My guess why the characters don't work though, after all that rambling...one single move in one of their cns files that xmugen doesn't agree with or something, and I think it's a special. Of course, I've never made a character so I don't really know for sure. Man, it just really makes me mad, I can't say that enough. Those characters rocked.
-
Hey Problem Child, I'm trying to reverse engineer however you got your screenpacks to work on the AMOC setup, and I got quick question for you. How did you generate the files in the XMUGEN Files folder in all the screenpacks or at least the rar files in them? I'm trying to fix the SNK screenpack and also add a Marvel vs Capcom 3 and a DBZ screenpack. I'm not gonna lie though, it's tricky and I need your help if that's possible. Thanks and take it easy.
-
Can I ask you guys a really stupid question? What if I have two different characters who have the same folder name, is it as simple as changing the name of one folder to something else or would more work (like changing the characters data info) be involved?
-
Yes that does make sense. thanks again for the info--
-
Just got a hold of a multi pack someone put together. It has broken Mugen on it and this works, but my question is that they have a timer countdown on the character selection screen. I looked but probably missed it, is there anyway to disable that timer?
And might as well ask again. Any possible way to shrink the character selection screen so nothing gets cut off on the tv? I hate scrolling through the character selection only to find quite a number of hidden rows cut off by my tv (tv overscan)
-
thank you for the reply. I will try the timer countdown method and see if it does nothing.
As for the tv overscan problem. Yes I did use the splinter cell exploit for my softmod, but you got me thinking. In unleash X for general options you can resize the entire screen for everything. If I shrink it down a little more and have a small border on all sides, this might fix mugen. Hmm will try that in the next few minutes....
since mugenx info seems to be scattered and sometimes conflicting. If someone made some screenpacks you can select but with no characters, does Mugen allow you to point the select.def to another directory where you do have characters? This way I techincally would not have to setup and copy characters for every screen pack I would like to use them in, instead just having it point to one main location
UPDATE:
1. you're right, the timer does nothing
2. changing the screen size in unleash x does not work, however messing with the Mugen.cfg file in mugen's main data folder does help to a degree... If you change this option under "video linux":
"Set this parameter to 0 to disable screen stretching, and set it to 1 if
;you want to scale it up to fit the current resolution.
Stretch = (change this to 0)
you do get everything, however in a way too small square in the center of your screen. Does mugen support any video sizes larger than 640x480? If the "windowed option" would work (I never got this to work, anytime I changed it from full screen to windowed, Xmugen crashes) then this would solve my (and I am sure others) problems.
besides re-installing a soft mod (which I do not want to do) is there anything I can do at this point to not have mugen stretched to full screen, but at least making the game screen itself bigger (I am fine with a border around it)?
-
Thanks again for the info. I just have to make some character select.def files to get those screenpacks running. Yes it turns out that I did get the broken mugen pack from problem child (though he had a slightly updated one off another site)
I still think there must be more settings or perhaps it is where everything is positioned (x,y) on the screen? I am pretty sure if I did mess around with the x and Y axis, I can bring things in closer. Another xbox made one (called xmugen extreme final) did not have as drastic screen cutting as broken has. Still more fun items to play around with
Correct me if I am wrong, but in order to use slayers evox disc to begin with, don't you already have to have your box modded? I do have the slayers evox disc 2.6, s by remodding with the slayers you are saying that it would overwite the splinter cell mod with a newer one? Pretty much it wont format and erase everything that is already on my drives will it?

For those that downloaded the AMOC setup I wanted to know if you wanted me to upload characters the for my version of SF vs MK since I didn't put up a full game for that setup. If so I will upload the characters and stages for that full game. I also put Eyedol from KI arcade game as the final boss for that one it's pretty cool. I made minor edits to some MK characters because they were too big compared to some SF characters and tried to balance attacks so they wouldn't have an unfair advantage. Real easy to do you can edit their cns file and change xscale and yscale from 1 to .9 . Or what ever you feel should be the right size. Their attack and defense are in the same cns file and you can adjust that so they don't ake off too much. if you already have the characters and want to do it yourself.
Here's a vid of the final boss Eyedol (fighting Shao Kahn in this vid)
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=znZ4pU-gh0o
I changed this intro screen because I didn't really like the original one(It just had the face of Reptile from the movie and I didn't like the block letters they used for the SF vs MK so I used the real symbols) I also changed the intro music.

I also changed the lifebars to these (I like these better)

Here are some more vids
Liu Kang vs Gouki
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=A78CokDiGo4
Sawada vs Jax
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=TlCjLX8VZMA
M. Bison vs Raiden
http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=KJftL0LCgf4
I can also upload character packs so that you can start other screenpacks that you would want to fill up.

Problem Child=Read the following clearly..
I suck at stetting up X-mugen, Im sure there are others as well, Love those youtube vids looks cool!
I downloaded every link you've uploaded on X-Mugen but yet to have to play a single working X-Mugen game.
Got AMOC=cant figure it out
Mk Characters got them.
Other X-Mugen Steup you uploaded= Cant get it to work/Ftp over correctly cause of fatx.
on 1 set-up character file was corrupt..
WITH THIS SAID,....
Can we please get a X-Mugen Game (Your best seems like AMOC) that works, has full characters,Levels aready set-up for n00bs like me & a few others(I know I'm not the only 1 that cant get this crap to work!)
preferably a AMOC game you have on your hard-drive so there's no chance it wont be able to Ftp over incorrectly.I would like to try out that youtube X-Mugen game, (MK VS SF, your NEW set-up with new intro lifebar ect.) download & Ftp Only, please?.
-
With the first Xmugen setup with the corrupt link did you try to open it with winrar. I found this out by accident but since I packed it with winrar that seems the best way to extract it.
The only full game I have uploaded so far was on the first xmugen setup, the Brokenmugen game. The MKA stuff was just characters to put on the same setup because it already has the stages and sounds for it. Unlike Brokenmugen that has the broken folder in the chars folder you just put all the MKA characters (and JUST the characters NOT the MKA4.4 folder they came in) in Xmugen/chars. With fullgames sometimes I can't put them in their own folder.
AMOC is just a bunch of screenpacks that people can make their own setup it didn't come with characters.
I saw the post on Demonic Testu, if you extract it with winrar and is still corrupt just delete him out of the characters folder. Try winrar first and if not delete him. Then go ahead and FTP, and if anyone else has characters corrupted let me know and I will upload the character to you.
There's over 200 characters on that game, and he works fine for me and others as far as I know but don't let that one file mess with you. I know it's fustrating because I had to teach myself how to do alot of this but try that and get back with me I don't have to work today so maybe I can help your situation.
-
Thanks for replyin with info
I still have all the files on my computer & will give it another try (I think I did unrar them with winrar I have also 7zip anyhow I will give it ago)
Is there any chance you can hook-us up with the MK vs Sk the above set-up you displayed..ready to go.if not its alright Ill go back and try what you said..cya

Yeah, either way you can't go wrong if winrar doesn't do it just delete that demonic tetsu folder and run the game. 1 character can cause mugen not to work it's weird like that, but you won't miss him the main thing right now is getting it to work.
I will upload the MK vs SF when I bring my stuff ober my brother's house because I have dial up. I will do it soon as I can, but while I have to wait I am going to add more characters I think fit in the game and try to make it more fun and balanced.

Just giving an update to one of my post about nasty tv overscan and mugen getting cut off. I tried a solution listed by shulbocka (to use the slayers evox softmod, instead of the splinter cell unleash X) as he mentioned it fixed the picture problem on a few of his friend's tvs.
No luck, I have a second xbox to play around with and the picture size problem was not fixed at all. I should mention that I am using an older, analog tv. However since newer hd tv's do not have overscan (or virtually no overscan), trying xmugen from my xbox on a HD tv, nothing is cut off or removed. The picture is essentially perfect.
This means I either get an HD tv or just deal with some over scan. Not the end of the world
Problemchild,
I love your packs, and I too would love for you to upload your fixed and latest ones you mentioned in your previous post. Right now I am learning had to add screenpacks/games. I hope that the small, but full Star wars mugen game (that I just got a hold of) will work on the xbox.
another question
I was able to get the two bonus games (boards) for Contra and super mario brothers to work on xmugen (however perhaps from a smaller buffer, SMB the whole board does not fully load up immediately as you go along, it takes a second to catch up and even then not everything displays as it should. Contra, however works fine).
have any of you been able to get the "duckhunt" bonus game to work? The one I had said it was "not for this version of mugen", so I ran dos2win on it. I no longer get that message, but it just crashed the game instead. Just wondering if there is some sort of trick to get it working or if this is one of the few the xbox just cannot do?
-
Sorry the evox thing i mentioned didn't work for you. I do have a working version of duckhunt on my xmugen though. I can't remember if I had to do something special to it or not though. A lot of the bonus games I downloaded didn't work too well though. If you want a copy of mine, just let me know.
Problem Child...you rock

What's up guys? I have a huge problem with my xmugen. I added some new characters through ftp, and went to load up the mugen fighting jam screenpack, and for some reason when it starts to load up, it now says some weird fatx error and that the system has been set to read only. It then freezes right after the "Microsoft controller S found" part. I tried all the screenpacks and it does the same thing, and I even tried a different version of xmugen that's in my Games folder and not even in my Emulators folder, and it does the same thing, and I didn't even add the new characters to that version. After all that, I just reinstalled EVERYTHING back onto my xbox, and it still does it. This sucks. If anyone knows what's going on or what I did wrong, I would really appreciate the help. Mugen is my favorite game of all time, so this feels like I'm being shot. I did copy two xbox backups to my hard drive during the time I was adding the characters if that would for some weird reason have something to do with this. I doubt it though. Anyways, I hope you guys can give me a hand on this. Take it easy.
-
i am having this problem with the swap file it keeps reading no directory or file exists and i have it on the right drive it was E/games also i am trying to get brokenmugen to load but i am having a hard time even on the original xmugen can someone lend me a helping hand
-
Hello All! I am totally into this. Can anyone recommend a good xmugen set up? I want EVE if possible.
THanks! you guys rock!
-
If you guys want to actually play Xmugen then you need to get BrokenMugen off xbox sky before it's not seeded anymore. Otherwise you'll be banging your head against linux errors till the end of time.
-
Hi everyone
I ve just downloaded the brokenmugen pack on the filefactory link Problem_child posted.
According to what I ve read, I can use it as a standalone : i don t have to bother with AMOC, ...
I ve unzipped it and uploaded the XMUGEN directory to F/Games
After launching it, i can select the screenpack, I select brokenmugen, then it gets to a black screen where appears a lot of info.
The ultimate lines seems to describe a problem :
Mounted root filesystem of type : ext2
Adding swap : 524200k swap-space (priority -1)
Hdah: bad access: block=0, count=1
Cmd_request: I/O error, dev 3:38 (hda), sector 0
Mount : mounting /dev/hda56 on /cdrom failed : invalid argument
Kernel Panic : Attempted to Kill init !
Could you explain me what I could do ?
I have read that Xmugen is upset with partition size ...
I have resized my F partition so I wouldn t have to change the cluster size of my G partition.
Could Xmugen be affected by giving more space to the F partition.
Beforehand, thanks
xiwan

Need help! Thanks.

Just hex-edited the "irdloop" file, and found this:
CODE
swapon /mnt/Games/xmugen/swapfile/r1skyswap
Thats how my folders are... F/Games/xmugen/*.*
Thanks anyway

Hi,
I get that message saying:
"USB device 3(vend/prod 0xe6f/0x8803) is not claimed by any active driver" on .The controller doesn't work on the game. I get the main menu but i'm unable to continue.
I have a pelican and gamestop xbox controller and no luck. Is there like an update that makes my controller work? or do i need the authentic MS controller?
I have mine installed on the F: drive with 250GB HD.
I have been unable to play xmugen because of this - any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, this is starting to drive me nuts. I have been using the "Fighting Jam" version on my Xbox for about a year now. I like it but the character select screen is a mess. So I checked in on the boards over the weekend and saw that problem child uploaded his version of broken mugen, with a few other bonuses added in, to File Factory, so I figured I would go download it and give it a shot to see if it would be a good replacement. I was able to download part 1 ok on Saturday but then I tried to get part 2 and got a 12mb file. I tried again and got a 15Xmb file on Sunday, I just tried again and got a 212mb file (should be 267mb).
File Factory seems like such a P.O.S. - is there anyway to get a t0rr3nt (not sure if I can say this word here) of this file? This seems like a much better means of delivery than downloading 11 pieces of a file from a site that probably only works if you cough up $11 for a 1 month membership.
Thanks
-
I really hope Problem_Child is still watching this thread.
I installed his Brokenmugen and upload on E:\ after doing a replace all in the config file to change all the F:\ to E:\
and it worked.
I just upgraded my harddrive to a 250G drive and FTP'd the same set up over to F:\ with the original config file and it won't get past the booting screen.
I then tried changing it to E:\ again since I know it worked there and still it freezes.
I get a message that says Fatx error, file system has been set to read only
then it says it found my controller and does nothing.
I only installed 1 char just to make sure it works.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
I think it is my new drive but I don't know how to change the write properties on it and every other emu/homebrew works fine.
Any help would be great since I bought the bigger drive just so I could play mugen.
thanks
-
I downloaded problem child's 11 file archive from his filefactory. After the download was done I proceeded to extract and then its asks for a password - what is the password. This is probably my last attempt to try xmugen out and this looks promising - I just need the password. Thanks in advance.
-
need a working mugen.cfg for the mugen xtreme distribution, if anyone has one that does not give joykey errors - please post it. thanks in advance...

I have been trying to get xmugen running for a couple weeks now and still all i get are problems.
i have an xbox 1.4 softmodded evox xmbc as my main dash and 64 mb ram. The hd is the original one putting a 30 gb in it today.
Atm i am dloading the 11 part xmugen setup from filefactory it just takes so long only at the 4th part.
I have xmugen 4.9 r1sky setup for e drive tried it under the games folder emulators folder and on the normal e drive. My xbox finds a game called kind of fighters. I can launch it under xmbc but i get a black screen with some coloured dissortion at the top of the screen. When i use the unleash x dashboard i get an error screen saying something of no cd killing itempt or so.
Tried slimmugen also tried it in the same way as above but it hasnt worked. I got so far that i could choose the basic screenpak but when kungfuman starts to load i just get the error screen.
tried xmugen metromod v1 but havent got that to work either same problems as above.
I also tried to use these mugen setups with brokenmugen but notting worked.
I got 2 joypads connected more then 2 gb left on the e drive. For some reason my f drive cannot be used i think its not partitioned
Can anybody help me setup xmugen and give some kind of tutorial how to set this up. I read this whole post but notting seems to work. I softmodded my xbox easely same goes for adding xmbc as my dash but trying to get xmugen to run damn dudes i just dont get it as far as any readme i am doing it right and it should work.
pls help me.
And i hope the 11 part xmugen setup works but what was that with an pasword if it has one pls share.
-
I just got the 11 part mugen and it works just fine. You have to FTP it over to the F:Games folder or just use XBMC to transfer it.
After that, open the filemanager in your xbox and there will be a folder named "swap file". Open that folder and delete the text file inside it that says "deleteme".
After that boot it up. One of the screens takes a minute to load so be patient.
Anyone out there find a good link for Xmugen Sky Edition?
I use Xtreme Mugen but the Sky has an assload more characters.
-
I dont get a "swapfile" folder and when i launch xmugen i get to the screen with the dude in the upper left hand corner then a bunch of text then i get the "kernel panic attempted to kill init" message then a freeze.
I've searched everywhere for a solution, there was someone having the same problem on this thread, but apperently they had to reformat and repartion the drives and that just not an option for me or at least not worth it. are there any other solutions?

I am new to the evolution x dash, well the xbox for that matter, I am not finding a "swap file" either.
I found the file manager. I have found a swap under E and F, but they dont have <> around them so I assume it is not a folder. that's under dvd2xbox.
my problem says press F1 to continue. I have clicked in the sticks and pad like ps2 R3/L3 to no avail.

well I got it to get past the F1 prompt. I put in a second controller in the #2 and it moved F1 screen and now I can play arcade but it is not recognizing my second controller for vs. stuck on that.
and when I play on the arcade mode if I touch the right stick it resets the battle. so that sucks for game play. gotta find the fix to that.

This is so frustrating.....there doesnt seem to be any stable releases, i think im just going to give up. on to street figher 4
-
Dont give up bro, there is a stable build out there. I think it's Xmugen Final 2.0 maybe?
I've gotten that and BrokenMugen to work within the past few weeks. BrokenMugen is alittle
slow but the other runs like a champ.
Just remember, best to run off a 250gb or lower( or else you'll have to format in 32k) and i've seen
issues with some 1.6 boxes too, but only some.
Keep trying man, if i have to i'll seed the version i have for a while just so people can get it.
-
I actually found 2 different mugen games that play of cdr/dvd and it was in already an iso.i just burned it and was good to go.there isnt as much characters as say some of these packages that are floating about but its still good and each version has about 50 characters.
-
hi dudes... I'm a big fan of xmugen since 2 years (or maybe more)...
well, I already have installed and play with xmugen and it's really fun...try this setup, it was released on my forum a few days ago...
http://www.spriters-....php?topic=21.0
just download all the files, put them into F:Games directory on your xbox and it should work..if not.... maybe I can make a copy of my setup (now that I can ftp stuff)...
well that's all for now, hope you get it working, it's good, faster and fun as hell! (beware, you need to add an screenpack and lifebar)...
so if you have troubles with that...I will try later to upload my stuff
-
hello. i'm new to the forums and to be quite honest i only joined for the reason that i want to get xmugen to run perfectly on my xbox. from the looks of things it won't be as easy as running it on windows. so i noticed the supposed updated Xmugen Faq link doesn't work... i don't mean to sound like a prick but i need to start somewhere. i'm not new to mugen but however i am new to xmugen and xbox in general.. just got mine. can someone give a helping hand to a know-nothing noob? ha thanks.

You will need to look around for a good version of xmugen if you find the bog standard version you will need to rename a folder in data to MFJ or you will get that damn error
CODE
static/ash : can't access tty, job control turned off
joy@key -joystick one to keys
using parameters.
joy2key2 - joystick two to keys.
joystick /dev/input/js1 non present
been sitting all morning trying to get it to bloody work lol also if you plan on playing it in HD you will need to edit the mugenboot.cfg and change the 640x480 to 720p or 480p you will also need to change the resolution in data/mugen.cfg
CODE
[Video Linux]
Width = 640 to 1280
Height = 480 to 720
you can get the default version here with no characters. you need to rename the folder in this version
Xmugen
Does any one know how to use 128mb as i have that amount but it only seems to use 64mb

I have now gotten r1sky's 4.9 xmugen to work but sadly i really dont like the mugen fighting jam screenpack all that much.
anychance some nice person can PLEASE upload a working Everyone vs Everyone screenpack that WORKS with xmugen PLEASE?
If I remember right r1sky uploaded a modified EVE pack he did once but the rapidshare link no longer works
I have tried for almost 24hrs now trying to get my eve screenpack to work with r1sky's F:\Games version and to no success all I get are errors and have tried renaming everything to lowercase via the renamer and yes I changed the motif to data/EVE/system.def but nothing
btw I had my F:\Games folder named all in lowercase and the r1sky's 4.9 Setup spit out errors
changed it to F:\Games and now it works!!!
After trying for almost 6 months off and on to get this working I could not believe that was the only thing wrong
Thanks for this setup r1sky everything runs smooth

I give up on the screen pack loader of xmugen I have been able to get the mortal kombat project and EVE battle to boot on R1sky's setup and also one the screenpack loader but only if I change the main mugen config in the data folder to motif =data/mkp/system.def or motif =data/eve/system.def
I try to launch them through the loader if I put eve or mkp screenpack in say menulaunch9
and edit that menulaunch to either load one if the 2 I get a menulauch9 NOT FOUND in the dos screen when i try to load that screenpack
Does anyone know how to fix this or been able to if so HOW?
I know xmugen is dead but I LOVE 2-D fighters and am so close to getting xmugen setup working
I would really appreciate any help I could get

That's the same reason i never used the Screenpack loader, its always heck to get working. I just normally setup all screenpacks separately with its own configurations and when ever i need to play a different one i just copy the mugen.cfg file to the XMugen data folder and its works every time.

WTF I FINALLY GOT THE BOOTLOADER TO BOOT DIIFF SCREENPACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
here is how I did it instead of editing a menulaunch file I opened up the xbox renamer app
clicked on launch file creator in the renamer copied this text into it
#!/static/ash
sleep 7

sleep 1

menu9.gz

mugenpak9.cfg
mugenpak9.xbe
remember to use the menulaunch files you used to setup the screenpack
I have done this for the EVE Battle and DC vs Marvel and mujen fighting jam Screenpacks with this method and I CONFIRM this method to work so if you are able to boot a screenpack via r1sky's or the bootloader if you configure tha main mugen.cfg file in the data folder to only boot that screenpack this will work
I hope this method will work for you also

WTF I FINALLY GOT THE BOOTLOADER TO BOOT DIIFF SCREENPACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
here is how I did it instead of editing a menulaunch file I opened up the xbox renamer app
clicked on launch file creator in the renamer copied this text into it
#!/static/ash
sleep 7
./mugen -r mkp&
sleep 1
./joy2key1 103 106 108 105 28 1 30 31 32 33 34 35 29 59 119 62 36 61 2 4&

ok if someone miss understands the line ./mugen -r mkp&
the mkp is for the mortal kombat project screenpack
if you wanted to use eve battle screenpack to boot up you would use ./mugen -r eve&

NOTE: anyone that has the X3 control panel or usb on their xbox you can plug your 360 controller up and play xmugen with that. I was doing that until my xbox died. You can't control the dashboard with the 360 controller but once xmugen boots you should be able to play with it. Anyone that wants to host the old setup go ahead it might get deleted soon.
Right now my xbox has just died, so anyone who wants to host this setup go ahead. You can also edit it any way you like. Anyone that can help me with my xbox shoot me a PM.
Once I get my xbox back working I will release some more xmugen games. Right now I am working on MKP 4.1 Remix for xmugen users. Adding new moves, characters, and maybe gameplay to 4.1.
I am redoing MK 4.1 for Xbox. The game is include MKP 4.1 characters and few others. Right now I am in the process of adding moves to existing characters and may add new ones. Right now I wanted to give everyone air combos and may add the dodge rolls like in MKBS. I am also including almost all of Liquid Jake's extras into the game like the Sokram Fatality (Sokram falls from sky and uppercuts head off opponent), Blaze Mode (after Finish Him you can come back to life on fire), Summon Blaze (if both fighters are on Blaze Mode you can summon Blaze - both fighters then burn to death but who summoned Blaze Wins), Arcade Hara Kiri, and Heal (get energy back after uppercut and Toasty man comes out). No Fujin Friendship though. That was incase you didn't know what the extras were I am sure most already know. I also want to add Super Combos, I am still learning but need help if someone can it can speed up the process. If I don't like my results (currently trying to add supers) then I will leave this out.
This sprite is based off the MKP 5.0 trailer. I liked the way it turned out.
Fujin

This was the first sprite to see what it looked like, I will now do a complete sprite sheet for him. Tell me which looks better. There are other things I am working on but want to complete this first.
This is the New Tremor and if things work out as I like this will be a cool character.
(IMG:http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/2290b5a837.png)
Also I am changing the saw move on Cyrax to this because I like it better.

@Tweakster I left some things in your PM.
Off Topic (kind of)
Since my xbox broke I having been looking in to the 360 and if it was possible to run mugen on it. One of the forums I go to have a thread about a new open source mugen build called xnamugen.
XNA Mugen Forum:
http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?board=353.0
It is basically mugen built in xna, since this is a mugen forum I thought I would post about this. I don't know too much about xna but games built with it can be ran on the 360 with a premium membership right?
I know that microsoft would never approve such a product to be sold on LIVE Marketplace but this wouldn't stop us from running it on our 360's ourselves would it? Since this is an open source project we could compile it to run on the 360 is this correct?
Right now XNA Mugen is in beta stages but looks promising the only drag about XNA is it is free for PC and Zune but for 360 you have to pay. But I will gladly pay to play mugen on my xbox 360. Check out the forum and see what you think.

sounds promising but personally I would not pay to play mugen i am happy with the pc version and the xbox version right now.
dont get me wrong...I would love to play mugen on my 360 in a heartbeat
I just wish someone could update xmugen with the latest mugen so i wouldn't have to keep pressing the blasted F1 crap
just got mortal kombat vs streetfighter to load via menulaunch in the screenpack booter with the method i posted earlier
thanks problem_child for the link

I know what you mean, just wanted to start a discussion about it to see if it was something we could look for in the future. Right now I wouldn't bother with it as it is a work in progress. But in the future (especially if xna for xbox becomes cheaper or free) it would be a viable option. As it would be a better mugen version then winmugen. We probably wouldn't have as many problems with characters because of the movereversed trigger as linmugen (xmugen) doesn't support it. Right now we have to change movereversed to movehit to get characters to run. But since this xnamugen is open source and will constantly be improved it has the potential to be better then winmugen and xmugen. If we can run this on the 360 it would be a win to run this off the harddrive with a powerful system.
As far as xmugen goes right now even though I haven't tested, but it I hear alot of good things about kakuto's setup with the 2GB and 3GB swap file. Not to mention it also uses a newer build of linmugen (currently all other setups use the old linmugen) this means all characters that use the movereversed trigger should work without changing them to movehit.
I think Kakuto's setup is best for those looking for a more stable build, and with the big swap files things will load quicker and you should be able to use bigger file size characters with less lag.

ok I upgraded the mugen version from the 2001 version to the beta 2002.14.04 version in the slim xmugen
if anyone is still using the slim xmugen and at the bottom left corner it says beta 2001 go here download the xmugen setup
which is the beta 2002.14.04 version
when you have downloaded it unrar it and look in the main xmugen folder for a file named mugen its a 4mb file
transfer that file over to your slim xmugen folder and either name the old mugen file to mugen.bak so you can go back to that version of mugen or just overwrite the old mugen file with the new one
when done boot up a screenpack and see if it says beta 2002.14.04 you still have to press F1 which still sucks but hey at least its better than the 2001 version (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
this version I linked to is basically r1sky's F/games version but with the beta 2002.14.04 Linux mugen
warning...it will make the AI more defensefull than aggressive

THIS IS HOW IT WAS CONFIRMED TO USE 2 GIG SWAP (EVEN) GIG. WHICH CAN BE ADAPTED TO 4 OR 6 OR MORE GIG SWAP
USING THIS POST.
if you take the 3 gig swapfile (from where kakuto posted) and name it bigcheese, put it in your swapfile folder, when you first run the 5mb mugen it will turn that one into 1 blank swapfile, and create its own "SIGNED" swapfile. IF LEFT LIKE THIS mugen will refuse to boot a match in mugen. the 5mb mugen can identify the 2nd gig but can't use it due to it being improper. so it can use more then 1gig but can't create more then 1gig due to signature or engine limitation.
(cough authentic check)
instead let it create a 1gig "r1skyswap" file, the first time you run the 5mb mugen. now add the file i have here called "samuel" (it should be about 1gig when extracted), now take the "r1skyswap", renamed to "psalm" and the "samuel" file, and put them in the same folder and run the launch.bat file. the new file will be called "r1skyswap", and put it back in your swapfile folder, enjoy the 5mb mugen. if u want larger modify the recover.bat file, use a notepad program.
project angel scar: so the current theory is to induce errors in the op sys of the guidance system, so as it course recovers, it can out think a incoming threat. so anyway i was think this is kinda short because the last 9months have not been good with the workload, i know the physical limitation of g-loads, why continue to over program in site of those inherent restrictions. so anyway i replied usual, the failed results turn them into mugen characters the usual way, get cj's new doll, there making more progress with error inductions, who cares. g-load is the boss here not you LOL.anyway ENJOY, bon't beleve everything you read on the internet, (ah may take 2minute to 4 longer to load in extreme cases due to signature check pass timeout, force pass?, on larger swap)
also i belive the F1 SCREEN could be disable near this location if you search for "@KBToUInp" in hex, not that i tried anythint outthe links to the file below contains what u need also the 5mb mugen file you need with 1 small change (beta message cleanup, u can vertify if you want what was changed i didn't damage anything-).

Am looking forward to this new MK mugen also i have scraped the bloody launch files as i cant get them to work at all i always get that bloody error entering mode v2 or something like that so edited up unleashx and made batch scripts to change screenpacks also its a lot cleaner and easier.
if any ones wants the config file just ask will put it up.
Also i have noticed that when i play the game in 480p or 720p the screen is incorrect its off to the left is there any way to fix this as i cant play it in SD mods as it doesn't work with the component cable only RGB or composite.

hey could I get that config file? I would not mind checking it out
-
I do not know if anyone is interested in this or this has been discussed before rocky5 got me to thinking about making shortcut files in xbmc since unleashx is able to load the xmugen screenpacks via batch scripts
and xbmc is able to launch r1skys xmugen setup via a .cut file
so...I just tried it out using slim xmugen and xbmc .cut file
I have mortal Kombat project 4.1 set to launch from mugenpak9
so..
<shortcut>
<path>f:\Emulators\xmugen\menu\mugenpak.xbe</path>
<label>Mortal Kombat Project</label>
<thumb>E:\Images\Mortal Kombat Project.png</thumb>
<custom>
<game>F:\</game>
</custom>
</shortcut>
so to see if a second screenpack would boot via a .cut file I tried again this time with dc vs marvel screenpack set to mugenpak8.xbe
<shortcut>
<path>F:\Emulators\XMugen\menu\mugenpak8.xbe</path>
<label>DC vs. Marvel</label>
<thumb>E:\Images\DC vs Marvel.png</thumb>
<custom>
<game>F:\</game>
</custom>
</shortcut>
and SUPRISE they both boot up from xbmc!!!
I thought I would just post my findings on this if anyone is interested I got tired of having to boot unleashx and then selecting a screenpack from there since xbmc is my main dash

nice one i get what you mean as XBMC is my main dash to but i have scraped the launch files as i couldn't add screenpacks i kept getting that damn error so i resorted to unleashx as this can do it easy.
Iam going to make a new skin for this with 2 big preview windows for videos and images and if you want my profile for Windows Media Encoder to converting to wmv v8 so you can then convert to xmv then just ask.
Here is an image note this skin is temp.

nice skin I like it except for the temp thing
will this config file work with R1skys setup since It runs faster and smoother?
have you tried making a menulaunch file in the xmugen renamer app
I used to get that same error when i just edited a menulaunch file in the menu folder of xmugen
so I create a new menulaunch file in xmugen renamer

Yeah i tried that and it worked well for the version i am using the now (launch) but i already done the config so i will just stick with that as i can add in preview videos and make a nice skin

Hopefully someone will figure out how to do the same thing in the unleashx config.xml you posted here to make xmugen do the same thing in xbmc I allready spent a hr creating wide icons for my xmugen screenpacks and would love to be able boot them via diff mugen.cfg in r1sky's setup through xbmc that would be so freakin sweet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

After reading up about xna built games, and the homebrew being made whether it's emulators or community based games it should be possible to run it on the 360. Since xnamugen is built with xna we should be able to port to the 360 ourselves. When I get extra money available I am going to fix my xbox 1, and get a graphics card that is compatible with xna. After that I will test it out, and see what this xnamugen can do and make sure you can port it over to the 360.
To make sure you know what I am talking about this is a mugen clone built with xna for the PC, that should port to 360.
QUOTE
xnaMugen is an clone of the MUGEN Fighting Game Engine. The makers of this game, Elecbyte have disappeared from the internet their game hasn't been updated in years. So, as a challenge to myself, I attempted to emulate the engine. While I'm not done yet, it's good enough to play.
Please try out my engine and leave feedback on how well it works.
As the game is built using XNA, you will need to download the framework from Microsoft. A link to the framework is on the xnaMugen page and at the bottom of this post.
Here is where to get the newest xnamugen.
http://www.codeplex.com/xnamugen
How to compile xnamugen
QUOTE
How To Create a Development Environment For Compiling xnaMugen
Operating System Required:
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 7 Beta
Install Visual Studio 2008 Express for C#:
http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/*Note* If you already have a better version of Visual Studio installed, you do not have to install Visual Studio 2008 Express.
Install Microsoft XNA Game Studio 3.0:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enUpdate DirectX to 9.0c (November):
http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/7.../dxwebsetup.exeDownload the latest source code for xnaMugen:
http://www.codeplex.com/xnamugen/SourceCon...bleCommits.aspxExtract the source into it's own directory. Example: C:\Code\xnaMugen\
Open the file 'xnaMugen.sln' in the code directory. It will open in Visual Studio 2008 Express. In Visual Studio, open the 'Build' menu and click on 'Configuration Manager'. Set the 'Active Solution Configuration' to either 'Debug', 'Release' or 'Release - Diagnostic'. Click close. Open the 'Build' menu and click on 'Build Solution'. This will build xnaMugen from source.
The program file 'xnaMugen.exe' will be in the '\xnaMugen\bin\' directory. Move this file into your MUGEN directory with 'xnaMugen.ini'. You should how be able to run xnaMugen.
Again since this project is open source and will constantly be updated it has the potential to be better then winmugen ever was. Stay tuned to this project it looks like this will be mugen of the future.

someone PLZ post a url for help
1. when loading that character does it go to a error screen or just freeze up?
2. did you run xmugen renamer on that certain character to make it all lower case?
3. have you tested that character in winmugen to see if it gives you a error?
4. is it a hi-res character if so if running on slim mugen that version I believe has problems with hi-res characters
5.have you tried more that one character on your xmugen setup if so does only this one character freeze up?
there is no way to reboot back to unleashx when in xmugen all it will give you is a error screen since Xmugen does not have a IGR (in game reset)
If any files are not in lower case in a character folder xmugen will spit out a error upon loading that character
make sure to run xmugen renamer on all your characters

Hello xbox scene community,
I am french and since two months i got back my xbox.
And i made a very nice mugen but i absolutely not understand which way to add more than 1 gb swap.
Sometimes, it is very long time to load characters and anything else, in team battle is very long to wait.
So i have 2 questions :
1 - Which ways to add more than 1 gb ?
2 - Is it possible don't show information message (with F1) in beginning ?
Sorry for my poor english, and yes i search in this forum before ask question.
I didn't understand very well that's all.

there's a few controllers that are not recognised, but I think madacatz should work (not sure, I can't remember right now)...
about the Swap File, I'm curious too, cause I have a 3 giga swapfile, but people told me it doesn't work, that the default 1gig load instead of the 3gigas swap...
(?)
there's a way to use the 3 gigas swap
www.spriters-academy.com.ar/
(search Xmugen and you will find that swap file there)

OK.......I now have a working copy of Xmugen on my xbox. What I am now wondering is how to add characters.
If I understand correctly...I need to edit the select.def file. Seeing as how my dev skillz are up to par with the likes of Napoleon Dynamite (and you know he gots skillz).......Im screwed.
Maybe not.......Once I understand what Im lookin at, Ill be ok.
I Hope.
ok pal is very easy to add character to the mugen jurmm (x-mugen of corse)
first you have to check the character with Fighter Factory if is complete then use xmugen renamer to change to xmugen(xmugen is CASE_sensitive so change it and PRESTO!!! character lyou like to une in xmugen
I got right know about 30GB of data of mugen...COOL no!

First off, sorry to bring back an old thread that will prolly make some peeps go "ah no, not again!" lol
I had this mugen 4.9 for F drive running like a charm for 2 years now.
The xbox in question is inside a PC case from an old mod, and I decided to make an arcade cab with a different xbox and COPY over the same folder to the SAME place in the other xbox.
Both same xbox 1.3
Both same chip smartxx v2
Both in the same place F:/emulators/xmugen
I literally copied from xbox to xbox to make sure I had the same setup.
It STILL boots on the first one, but the second I get this error.

I tried everything and have been reading for 2 days on this 30 page thread. I just dont get it.
It cant be the setup, it works on one xbox.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Did you make sure the Linux Config file is in the root of the drive and that it looks correct?
also, are you using a controller other than a official Xbox controller? That could cause an error too.
I got that error before from these issues.
-
QUOTE(xmod4u @ May 1 2010, 05:11 AM)

using official S controller.
What is the linux config file called?
mugen.cfg
mugenboot.cfg
I dont see and actual file called linuxconfig, the xbox that mugen works on does not have that either.
I read about having the bzimage and irdloop.gz in the root of E, tried and still same error.
What baffles me it that both xbox's have exactly the same setup and file configuration and paths, boots on one but not the other.
forgot to add, ONLY dif between both boxes is the HDD. one that works has a 320GB and the other has a 160GB. both partitioned with 137+ for F tho.
Man! i thought this would of been a simple transfer and play.
thanks again all
Yeah the Mugen.cfg or whichever would be the one... its a linux config but renamed so you can have linux and mugen with no issues. You have the Mugen cfg right in the root of F right?
If so, I'm not sure what your problem is then
I know Mugen can be picky with larger drives, but your saying the smaller drive is the one with issues?
I would get a fresh MUGEN, delete all saves and whatnot from the Mugen you are trying to load now, put the new one on and try again.

so i replied with this..:

I got a 1.0 xbox, used to be softmodded, but i dont have a pc, and wanted to put in a 2tb hdd.. so i hard modded, and flashed the tsop with ind bios 5003.67.. before that it was softmodded with a 320 gig hdd, and had an older screen pack edition of xmugen using unleashx as the launching platform. it always worked fine, so i just been copying everything from my old xbox to my notebook, and then back to the new 2TB hdd.. when looking for some useful info about how to get the most out of the 2TB hdd with out any data corruption issues, i was told to do this:
1. launch xbpartitioner 1.0
2. Split the F & G drives 60/40 (uneven split)
3. format both F&G in 32k clusters temporarily
4. Reboot xbox
5. launch xbpartitioner 1.1
6. Split the F & G partitions 50/50
7. Now format in 64k clusters
which i did, all is fine with the hdd, but now my xmugen will not work.. i get some error about fatx raw_scan_root or something like that sector 0 is not available file system set to read only.. very odd.. anyway that is the only error i get from it..
i also have the win98 xdsl edition, which i added a command to either launch windows 98 or mugen, it always worked before, but as i said above now i cant seem to get it running at all. i made sure all files were copied over, and dumped everything back into the drives they worked on in the other hdd.. i always held up xmugen as the crown jewel piece for what is possible on the xbox, and so bummed out its not working on this new hdd.. i mean i could always just swap out the hdds when i want to play, but its not really what my goal was when i went into getting the 2Tb hdd.. know what i mean..? so any and all info is very much appreciated !
btw again i did as suggested in xbox scene forums under the tut for the custom hdds of this size.. so will the 64 clusters be a problem, or can i just fill up F drive to the brim say till there is only 100-200 gigs free on it, will that be enough.. i dont think i can just make F drive 127 gigs and the rest on G, heard there was some issue with fatx system reading any partition over 1000 gigs or something... thanks again, and if ur still interested in any info about the screen packs let me know, i got the MK vs SF and MK project, and many others. got them from a private site, and all configs to get them to run under the custom unleashx launcher either stand alone packs, or as eve or slim eve packs.. again this was all working fine with my krayzie ndure mech ass softmod, then i went to a hardmod, where everything still worked very very well..
so can anyone shine some light on this for me pleaseee???

Hello all,
I've recently gotten into XMUGEN about 3 weeks ago and have been busily researching the different ones and have been reading info from Guybird to Idiotfan and so on. I've noticed that the XMUGEN projects don't seem to be fail safe and needs to be evaluated on an individual basis. I'm hoping all you good folks here can give me a hand and I can count myself among the success stories of XMUGEN.
Here is my situation:
I have attempted to use Xmugen Battle Coliseum. Which I obtained at: here
I also tried Xtreme Xmugen 2.0 Final by xRaVeNx(obtained from Demonoid)
Both of these version are described as "drag and drop", more precisely drag and drop the xmugen folder into the directory F:Games/. Upon doing that for both (I've also spent hours adjusting and trying different caps lock combinations like 'F:/Games/XMUGEN' and so on and so forth after reading different blog posts) I received the same issue. Upon loading the black screen freezes and what is suppose to be the white text with the picture of the guy above it is a blur of a scrambled white banner at the top.
I then went and tried the SlimXMugen project which makes use of an Emulator folder as opposed to the Games folder. Slightly more success. I open it through XBMC and it loads UnleashX and gives me the option to load a screen pack. This mini victory is short lived, the only option is basic and it crashes upon clicking it. I originally had a copy of Broken Mugen that did the same thing. Difference being the Broken would load a whole menu with a background, the Slim did not.
About my system you ask? Its the always beloved 1.6 xbox, with UnleashX, the XBMC, and EvolutionX. I have upgraded my hard drive with a 500 GB White Disc and have used XBpartitioner and have the F: at 120.55GB (in the partitioner F is the partition listed as '6' in the extended partitions, right?) and the G: at 337.76GB.
I'm assuming my only hope is with Broken and the Slim but I know I need guidance to get either up and running. Really keeping my fingers crossed someone out there sees this and has some pointers.
