how far down does it need to be? i have a 1.0 xbox i'm working on and i've pulled out the d0 wire atleast 3 times and it's getting a little bent so i don't think that i can't take much more punish ment.  my xbox keeps booting to the regular xbox screen instead of the cromwell screen. the funny thing is the chip comes on. so anyone have a suggestion?

aslong as it touches it and is in slightly it should be fine. If you need a replacement lcp part, you can get them cheaply. Its probably a misaligned chip,  but if the chip works and no bios I'm not sure.

if the D0 hook is broken simply use the removable D0 loom that came in the kit

I had a bitch of a time getting my D0 in.  I would suggest two things: be patient and dont force it.

Get a pin file, or some emery cloth, and file the D0 to a point. Sometimes there are burs left over from the manufacturing process that prohibit the gold wires ability to set properly.

I've also read that on some motherboard there is a small amount of laquer covering the points on the board. If you still cant get it to work use a fiberglass pen and gently clean the D0

I also used needle nose pliers.

Check the manual and make sure the lights are correct after the installation.

My D0 just wouldnt fit. It took me 2 days to install the 10 second solderless adapter.

Amazing.  It takes 5 minutes to solder.
