I am sickened that THQ hasn't allowed AKI to make another wrestling game for them. Am I the only one who feels this way? Those were the best games on N64, the multiplayer experience was second to none. Now every game has to be made by Yukes and the games just don't feel the same. They keep trying to capture that gameplay but just cannot. The N64 did have some good multiplayer action I must say that. Please THQ let AKI make a new WWE game PLEASEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Def Jam is the closest thing we get but who the hell wants to play with these crappy rap guys.
exactly!
Maybe we'll get lucky with the upcoming TNA game..
is AKI making it?
The N64 is my fave, Then the Gamecube, GBA, NES, GBC , GB and my least fave been the SNES, ahhhh remember the 1st n64 game i got, Mario 64.....great days
rareware owned 64 back in the day. GOLDENEYE PERFECT DARK DK64 BK BT ETC
dont know much about the gcn
nes was alright
snes was better |M0
snes and nes were definatly nintendos best and that was what really started the console bussiness. The n64 was destroyed the playstation superior library of games. The gamecube is also lacking support because of nintendos decision to do things like make difference format discs, no online play and aiming for the more younger age group with its titles.

that would be amazing. i'm worried about how it would sell at the current time if a game was to come out though since the majority of people are attracted to WWE like mindless zombies. would be awesome to see sabu/raven/aj styles/AMW/triple-x etc. in a xbox quality game with an aki made engine though

eternal darkness was an OK game, the gameplay kind of sucked but the part that i really liked about it was the things that happend when you went insane,
the whole room was upside down, your head would fall off, and then you would get the "your save file was deleted" boy did that piss me off for the first 5 seconds until i realized that it wasn't true
thats what makes that game different from the rest

anyway, i really can't decide on what i should pick. Alott of those consoles were awesome, but if i had to choose i guess i would go with the nes because of the old school games that they had (contra, castlevania, mario, megaman, zelda)
I heard TNA is supposed to get a FX TV deal for prime time. I also heard that Ted Turner might want to get involved also. With his money they could get some name recognition with Stone Cold and Goldberg, that might attract some viewers, cause WWE hasn't been good at all since they bought WCW out. Too many backstage politics with Triple H always looking out for himself. They need some competition, they are too complacient and are giving a horrible product to their fans.
as far as gamecube goes, there is nothing wrong with the system. It has the hardware and graphics to compete. Nintendo has released some good first party games like metroid and mario, zelda and so forth. But there are not enough of those games to make people want a gamecube. You cannot release a first party blockbuster every 6 months they just don't have that luxury with Sony and MS kicking their tails in. They need to stop coming out with a hundred different handhelds and start making the games that people want to play.
well the 'nintendo revolution' is next year if anyone has seen the e3 press conference, hopefully that will make nintendo the dominant company once again.
btw the 3d marios suck in comparison to the old-school mario brothers games, i hated the mission structure. simple platforming and getting to the end of the level was way better. Come on Nintendo make an old-school mario game!!!!!!!!!!

Dude that was a funny joke, i remember them saying the exact same thing when they made the GameCube,
the gamecube will succeed where the N64 failed!!
admit it Nintendo, you dont know what you're doing anymore.
A prediction, the next nintendo console will have such wonderfull games as :
Mario Golf Super Deluxe 29 Hole's Deluxe
Super Mario 3D 20X6
Pokemon beach volleyball
(with realistic jigglypuf bouncing)Barbie rocks the model runway
Luigi's Mansion II "Back to the Mansion"
Super Mario Kart III Super Tripple Score Dash Deluxe
and maybe even some :
Wario "YAFPG"
(yet another fucking puzzle game)Yoshi's Egg Marbles hyper Drive Combo Tetris Deluxe
and ofcourse :
Resident Evil 24 "Back to raccoon city for no fucking reason"
Super Sonic Collection Disc III "Absolutly no sonic this time!!"
and for all the fighting fans out there :
Super Streetfighter 2 Alpha Turbo III Fourth Strike Vs SNKSegaSammyPlaymore King of Fighters 2007 "Super Milkyway battle deluxe!!!"
ok i admit that was a funny post you just made vampx, but they say that the nintendo revolution is gonna feature something that has never been done before. not just an increase in hardware, but an actual new style of play, e.g like the ds is to the gba.
Nintendo actually owns the majority of the gaming industry still today, because the the Gameboy Advance. And anyone who says the Gamecube is a failure knows nothing. They may be in 3rd place in some parts of the world (but still basically tied at 2nd with Xbox overall, from the last reports I've seen), but they still have sold millions of consoles, and Nintendo's bank account continues to grow very rapidly.
ok the gamecube isn't exactly a failure, but it could have been much better. if you look at nintendos past success then look at the gamecube, you will see a big big difference. btw i am not an xbox fanboy, i own a gamecube as well and i grew up with nintendo so i am not biased in anyway.
i think its really stupid how nintendo just let the good franchises to fall.
it was very stupid from nintendo not to buy the exclusivity for viewtiful joe...
its one of the best games i´ve played. if you dont believe me just do it.
Wind Waker and Ocarina of time are so different (and equally good imo) that
nintendo should make 2 series of zelda....one of ocarina style...and the other cel
shaded like ww.
With nintendo in the third place of the fifth generation...and MS trying to buy it (of course this will not happen...nintendo loves itself too much that they will never gonna sell the company ...not even if they are dying of hungry.)
but nintendo should really quit consoles and stick with portables...
the playstation psp its cool and all...(and im gonna buy it)
but the innovation of the ds 2 screens (one touchable) its going to be awesome if nintendo work it well. (but honestly i dont think other publishers like thq is gonna spend much time thinking about how to use it...theyre just gonna release one game of every cartoon network, nickelodeon, fox kids cartoon hit.)
but to be honest now that im thinking....if the ds falls ....nintendo falls.
and if nintendo fall... videogame industry is going to lose too much credibility...
to be honest i like all the consoles... everyone says mario sunshine is crap...
but i´ve been with mario since its beggining...and let me tell you. if you havent finished it....dont say its crap.. its very fun. and very difficult.
now PIKMIN is great... smash bros melee... well what can i say about this ... (nintendo is to proud to make sequels....stop having 2 years between game and game...because for me....thats the real cause of its doom)
i really enjoy the ps2 games...but i totally totally think that the xbox its by far the best console out there....and the best console ever (imo) not just for the games... but the stuff you can play with it.
i love my gba and i think its nintendo´s best portable...but i think its gonna be the end of nintendo´s kingdom when the psp arrives....
anyway im gonna buy both...just as the good gamers we´re all.
dont hate nintendo...give them a chance. you´ll have fun.

i dont hate nintendo, i love them. i have completed mario sunshine and it isnt crap, but the water pack makes it so different from the other mario games.
i don't think nintendo should quit consoles, they just need to make better games and make them more appealing to more audiences.
Nintendo should go into the Virtual Reality buisness, with VR helmets and total imertion RPG's.
Imagine that, i would never leave my couch again.
And i dont hate Nintendo either, its just that when i look at the games they have..
i just have to shake my head and say "no thank you"
Sure go ahead, bring out Mario Party 5,6,7,8,9,10 but also bring out some other kind of games,
games that give me the nintendo feeling..
but instead all nintendo games are just rehashes.
when i complain about the cube its because i like my cube..

I also grew up with the NES/SNES and they both kicked ass. I was a SEGA owner but made the switch after the SNES consistently put out the same games that were on the Genesis but they looked and felt 1000% better (IE: Aladdin, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter2, etc, etc).
I think the end of Nintendo began when they refused to embrace the CDROM. By holding onto a dead technology (carts) this drove up prices for production immensly and forced Nintendo to charge unacceptably high prices for their software (sometimes as high as $100 for a game). The over-estimated their market dominance and name brand recognition.
In addition they charged exceptionally high 3rd party liscensing fees while their new competitor (sony) was offering really generous fees.
I still feel Nintendo could have served up some serious competition and retained their market value if they'd have had some liberal thinkers in their bunch. After winning the war with Sega they self-destructed due to their own ignorant complacence.
Oh well.....

I think this may prove to be bad. They have the Metroid game for the DS set up to use a stylus to shoot (you tap on the screen). WTF? This is a bad idea. Can you imagine kids poking the screens with their stylus? That can only turn out badly.

Its good to know Nintendo hasnt changed their ways yet, first the GBA without a backlit screen,
and now you'll have to buy many replacement touch-screens

virtual boy!?
you'll get some kind of head trama playing that too long
you can still play virtual boy on the surreal 64 emulator, get doom64 and play it under 1964 or project 64

EDIT: and im sure gamecube lost alot of people becuase it didn't have online play, maybe if they had that then more people would buy it
but then again if the next nintendo console had online play there still wouldn't be as many people playing it because they havn't had as much experience with online gaming as the xbox or the ps2, so more people will probably won't trust the next nintendos online play

offtopic: lol
ontopic: nes was my favorite. i had a 2600, and a c64 when i was very young. but the nes was the first system i truely loved, and would save money forever just to buy one game *video rental stores were my best friends* the nes pretty much blew everything else away. you can see that by the short nintendo history posted on this thread. none the less, nintendo has lost its console edge, and i hope they dont end up the same way as sega. if nintendos new hardware isnt revolutionary, then they might not make another console *super gba xp 3000 will be out though.* nintendo will always "pwn" the handheld market. *my very first video game ever was a bomb sweeper game&watch from nintendo*
snes comes in 2nd. "its like an nes, but better!"
gcn comes in 3rd. "great hardware, great at hiding the very short load times. /virtually/ uncrackable. game library = nintendo made games only"
n64 comes in last. "damn you."
gameboys, just throw them in wherever. handhelds and consoles cant compare to each other. its like comparing apples and oranges, theyre both fruits, but nothing alike.
QUOTE (Mephiska @ Aug 17 2004, 05:31 PM)

I sincerly doubt that, we all saw how easy nintendo crumbled when consoles
with better game support then them apeared.
Lynx = good system but bad game support
GameGear = Good system but game support started lacking the good titles that the gameboy had.
while nintendo is desperatly trying to invent new ways of portable gaming
the competition is almost ready to launch their handhelds.
then again.. Nintendo does always come out with a huge library of games for their handhelds..
and playing portable Tomb Raider & Metal Gear Solid is hardly what i call a good time.
the majority of the time though, the good games are the ones that nintendo has made themselves.

And did everybody forget about Majora's Mask because I think it was better then Ocarina Of TIme???????????
I am probably obsessed with the Zelda series as i have completed all of them (that are currently out) and i have to say honestly without a biased opinion.
Majoras Mask sucked!!!!!!!!!!!
The three day system was cool at first, but eventually got on your nerves, the music was the same in every area, just played with a different instrument, the masks were cool though, at first. it got extremely repetitive, story was way too cheesy and i personally think that it shouldn't have been made. they only had a small group working on it anyway because they were concentrating on next-gen zelda (wind waker).
the upside though is that it had a very dark/evil/doomsday tone to the game which set it apart from the other games.
Oh I agree, Mario Kart 64 was a let down to me, which i s why i bought Diddy Kong Racing. But you have to admit, the computer controlled characters sometimes made that game WAY to frustrating. It was almost like they had god like abilities to fly their little flying-thingies around. Going from DEAD last to first place was not a sight uncommon when i played it.
I'm kinda torn on my answer to this. I grew up mainly playing Sega systems: Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, Dreamcast. My friends did too for the most part. From time to time, I'd hang out with a friend that had an NES or an N64 or whatever. I guess out of all the Nintendo systems, I would say I liked the NES game selection the most. However, I was totally content playing my Master System games...Space Harrier 3-D & Missile Defense 3-D were something no NES gamer could match! Not to mention that Sega's controllers typically made sports games easier to play, which is still my favorite genre of games.
To answer the question: NES

I enjoyed GE much more than PD. I also thought Conker's Bad Fur Day was a pretty average platformer... without the crude humor it would have been little known, IMO. I loved Banjo Kazooie, but later games like Banjo Tooie and DK became too much of a collect-a-thon to be enjoyable. I think Rare has been sliding for while now.
Don't forget Jet Force Gemini. Another collect-a-thon with a camera system from hell.
The problem with rare was that except for a handful of original titles, alot of their stuff was variants of some form of earlier work done by them, or nintendo. Just with different characters and plot line.
Still made top notch stuff though (technically).
and pd and goldeneye would own shadow ops
and killer instint would own bruce lee
etc
but today there going downhill imo
does that mean that no more donkey kong games? well i suppose there will be, but they will all be crap from now on considering they are not made by rare

>Best Nintendo System?, Vote
I definately vote for the N64, since it has my three favourite games of all time; Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and Conker's Bad Fur Day.
Also, TWINE, the good Turoks, Bod Harvest, the Banjo games, Mario 64, Mario Tennis, Rocket: Robot on Wheels and loads more.
The SNES had some great games too. I never saw a NES, and I've not seen many Gamecube games, but those that I did see seemed to be graphical updates of their N64 versions (I'm not saying all Gamecube games are, just the ones I saw).
Anyway, the N64 is my favourite system ever, thanks to the games I mention, and others.
i have the snes on the left, and still have it to this day. although i just play my snes games on my xbox now anyway. with the hardware filters and what not.

The Virtual Boy is a RISC-based 32-bit system, which produces high-resolution red 3D images against a deep black background using two mirror-scanning LED (Light Emitting Diode) displays. The 3D experience is enhanced through stereo sound and a new specially-designed, double-grip controller that accommodates multidirectional spatial movement. It is powered by either six AA batteries or a seperately sold AC-adapter.

If I had to rate them, I'd rate as follows:
1- SNES (tie)
1- NES (tie)
2- N64
3- Gamecube
I can't choose between the SNES and the NES. Both were a valuable part of my childhood and I'd feel like a bastard if I picked one over the other.
Now the 64 was awesome too don't get me wrong, it's just no SNES or NES. I'm all about Mario 64, Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros, Jet Force Gemini, etc etc etc
The Gamecube is cool too, and it's got some cool as hell games, but it is no way near as cool as the SNES/NES
I feel sorry for kids today growing up with the ps2/xbox/gc because it's a different world now. What the hell is wrong with old school shit such as side scrolling, snes style graphics and music, etc. No matter how good you can make a 3d person look to me, I'd still prefer a sharply ass animated side scroller (mega man!)

well, with super mario world, legend of zelda lttp, street fighter 2, chrono trigger, and an army of amazing games, i'm not too surprised snes won, just surprised that it won by such a large margin.
when i created this topic i hoped that snes would win, i didnt think it actually would though. i mean with the amount of topics aboutn n64 in this forum you would've expected that to win.
Gameboy (Mono/Colour/Advance) really shouldn't be up there imo. It is a system but not in the same sense as the others as it's a handheld and not a console. This is probably why it has the least amount of votes even though it's sold more units then any other console ever (and in many cases, more than all consoles released by a group. Eg. Sony with PSX,PS1,PS2.
Also, can i ask who selected 'None I Hated Nintendo', i can't believe 4 people chose that. I pity the fool, who hates nintendo!!!
