SpudGunMan is right, Master. Despite your earlier claim that "I learned my lesson from the last topic," you clearly haven't with lines like: "I've already donated thousands of dollars 2 him..." Posts like this add nothing and steer the thread away from the subject at hand.
And the point of me telling Master to get mod permission, SpudGunMan, is that this second thread was borderline Dead On Arrival anyway. I really want to continue the interaction between the knowledgable fans, the curious onlookers, and the authors. But the reality is that if we don't "self-mod" this topic ourselves than it is destined to be closed.
And that's a shame. Before people were posting simply for the sake of posting, the Surreal v2 thread was an interesting mix of conjecture and anticipation; Lantus certainly thought so when he took the time to post the initial screenshots, letting us salivate at their progress. He and oDD haven't posted in a while, and it may be because we've been too busy talking to ourselves and not raising issues to discuss with them. How ironic for a thread that bills itself as being all about Surreal v2.

How exactly is money going to make Surreal a better emulator? I don't see that this project is any more worthy of 'donations' than all the other quality emus we enjoy on the Xbox.

Any of the work that oDD and lantus do on surreal will be done with or without money. While im sure that (or atleast i hope) oDD and lantus are human (and hence need/want money) they wouldnt shun away donations, but nothing is required, nor would it motivate either to work faster/better. The true projects are made from love (wow that sounded lame).
As to the moderation comment, i hate to inform you but this is not a democratic internet. You do not govern our policies. It is more like a monarcy, with xantium/hsdemonz being the brother kings, and me a head chancellor. What i say goes. I say that HoRnEyDvL is doing a well job moderating the trash in this thread.
Now, back on topic.
Surreal is of course being worked on regularly, and the progress is good. I've missed oDD over the past week so i dont know how close the release is (as to what i knew from before) but it shant be long ; )

I didn't say it was democratic (nothing's democratic) I said it was lame which it is.

Cleaning the trash? This whole thread is 'trash', that's why the last one was locked. Everything that could be said on the subject had been said and so the discussion just deteriorated.
As soon as anything new regarding Surreal comes along, I'm sure we'll be notified. We know both lantus and oDD are working as hard as they can on it and I'm sure we all wish them well as we do XPort and GoGoAckman and anyone else contributing to the scene.

The problem with the last thread however was that you couldn't find any new info. It was 27 pages long (by default) and only about 3 posts had anything usefull in them.

Dr Mario 64 -Althought I remember reading that this was fixed and then broken again I would love to hook up some 4 player action.
Kirby 64 - My girlfriend loves this game but refuses to play it when you cant see the bad guys faces
Mario Golf - Runs pretty well already but the graphical errors make it kind of difficult to play
Mario Tennis - Never played this game before V1 but I've grown to quite enjoy it. I would just like to see the crashing minimized.
Perfect Dark - Doesnt sound as thought this one is going to be 100% but the screens sure look good.
I'm sure I'm missing a few. Anyone else?

i have dark rift and that doesn't work, im looking forward to playing it
there are no menus at the beginning and the characters are invisible
super smash bros. looks good, i hope it runs faster and there special moves aren't messed up
doom 64, froze up in certain spots, playable but im always looking over my shoulder
fighters destiny 2 - again i have it and it doesn't work, but im looking forward to playing it on surreal v2
destruction derby runs too slow, hoping it will run faster

Console roms dont work with updated romsets silly, its only that way with arcade romsets.
The goodutils only rename the roms to the correct name, nothing else.
and every new release adds more known roms.

Yes but my roms are renamed to GoodN64 v2.02a rom name standards so how can I pick out the roms which work on Surreal64 v2.0 or v1.0 if the old roms are needed since the games are detected by the two internal CRC32 checksums.

Maybe you misunderstood me...
The last time someone posted a link to the hacked mugen I remember (whoever runs the emu section) saying that we can't post links to anything not supported by elecbyte.
Dunno how you managed to come to that conclusion though. (Deleting a post would bring elecbyte back? wtf?)

Thanks for the link, that has gone high up on my list of "tutorials to read and do", so I can become "t3h 1337!!!1!", I've wanted to program for years (like, 15 of them) and now seems like the right time to start, so far, all I've done is a couple of basic hacks/fixes (no one will remember my working fix for Enter The Matrix, because no one cared when I announced it) and a mod for Max Payne (PC), but now I've got to do something worthwhile, like porting Abuse

While I agree that some of the people here are a little too desperate for Surreal64 v2, I can't help but sit and let my N64 collect dust while I wait for v2.
Why? Surreal64 is actually better than an N64 for the following reasons:
1) Double the resolution. Any 3D game will run at double what it does on a real N64. Compare them side-by-side and you'll see what I mean.
2) Progressive Scan. A real N64 can't even touch the quality that a progressive scan video signal gives HDTV and PC monitor users. Combined with #1, this kicks the N64 to curb in the graphics dept. Trust me, I own a real N64 and I don't even want to turn it on anymore.
3) Optical sound. Surreal 64 supports Dolby digital sound,which means you get loss-less perfect sound coming straight out of the ROM itself.
4) Unlimited memory card space/Free RAM upgrade/Save anywhere. I'm more of a purist when it comes to saving my games, so I'll only use the memory pack instead of the save state, but I can definitely see the appeal of it. Plus I don't own any mem cards, or the RAM upgrade. I'll gladly take those for free, thanks.
5) Xbox controller support/Button config. N64's controller, to me, is just uncomfortable and weird. I'd much rather play on an S-Controller with which I can completely remap all the buttons to my liking, since a lot of N64 games did not allow that option. Plus I only have 1 N64 controller. I have 4 S-Controllers, so if I want to play 4 player No Mercy/Mario Kart/Golden Eye/etc., I'm ready to go.
6) Portability. I'd rather pack just an Xbox and bring it a friend's house rather than lugging my N64 and 100 carts, which unlike CDs/DVDs can't be stored in a relatively small CD binder. Plus I'd rather not put the wear and tear on the N64, which rings true for all of my older consoles. Thankfully, they are all emulated on the Xbox (besides the Saturn).

This is, of course, you're uneducated opinion, and now that you've been educated I suggest you rethink which is the best emulator on the Xbox. Is the best emulator one that is most accurate? Seems like the obvious choice. But what about emulators that provide options that actually make the games run better than the consoles they are emulating?
Like I said, some people are a little too into Surreal64. But what does it help flaming them/belittling the emulator? Do you feel like a bigger man/woman because of it?

Yeah, I'm right in clearwater, by the beach.Just far away enough to not be ordered to evac. This should be fun.... But at least we still have power(so far). I wouldnt mind a safe bolted down to the floor,ya know,......for my xbox.

and its very but very buggy...it has a crazy sound on almost every rom...
download it if you want to play conker bad fur day (still with some errors and skippy sound ...but face and very playable) or rocket (that ubisoft game) ...because thats the only improve youre gonna get.
and about my logo and shirt...
this could really be a great splash screen...sadly oDD told me the other day that surreal its not going to have a splash.
but ive heard your opinions and looks like anybody wants a splash screen...but it really looks nice.

a inbetween release should at least keep the noobs from complaining as much. Because 99% of them can't compile it, and those that do (like Morien) get errors. that is, assuming it will take several more months to complete.
So my advice, Lantus, even if you don't want it, release the latest work and call it Buggy-As-Hell edition. Then that will speak for it's progress ...and keep the whiners like myself at bay. Then you won't have to be the bad guy!

It's not so much it's a secret, it's just needless to give constant status. Plus they may do something and decide to add something else, or they may do something which breaks something else, so giving us figures like '95%' will only add fuel to the flaming fire so to speak.
I remember in January a thread just like this started and oDD_ gave an approximate release date which he missed for unforseen reasons (broken monitor i think it was). No one gave a crap about his circumstances tho (except for the select few of course) and it was as if the metaphorical flaming light went green.

lantus and oDD will release something when they are happy that it's good enough to release. You have lots of emulators to play with in the meantime. So just stop whinging and be patient!

Yes I have been made aware of the meaning of the word (not heard it used before in the UK though). What I meant was I don't see how 'rack' originated as a term for that part of the body. But don't bother explaining, I'll keep what little innocence I have left.

That Movie about German soldiers in a bunker? I've seen that one it was fine some parts were fine, some sucked ass but I enjoyed the movie. I liked part 2 more than one although part 1 had some GREAT scenes Alien & Aliens,NO ALIEN 3???, be sure to watch the extended edition of 2 btw it rocks Godfather serie (some parts are better more than others) DarkCity and The Matrix 1, Both great movies, both really similar although i liked the Matrix better Darkcity is also a must see. Dawn of the dead (Both the remake and the original), The original is better than the remake which suffers from some serious plot holes.
