Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough. The new mame rocks but is slow for some of the older games.

Yeah the new mame isnt nearly as good as everyone thought it would be. Atleast Surreal V2 will live up 2 the hype I gave it |
What are you talking about? It does what it is suppose to do perfetcly, play games that had memory issues.
yeah but its pointless because FBAXXX runs games like metal slug 3 alot faster even with all filters on max...
MAME has always been less compatable than those emulators written specifically for one or two kinds of gaming hardware. This release is great, yes there are MANY issues yet to tackle, but you have to remember that MAME is the only option for emulating this many games, and the fact that we are using a console with a limited amount of resources.
Mame has always been about emulating the most,
Generally speaking if a more dedicated emulator comes out it is quicker, or the mame port was from it in the first place.
Take the U64 emulation for Killer Instinct - even on PC the seperate emulator is way quicker than mame.
Like mentionned above MAME is excellent for offering the quantity of systems in one app - if you don't like the emulation then try another emulator.
thanks for the tips on mame .71! Nba jam has always been a fun game for me. Any other games I should move from .84 back to .71?
I can't get sound on some of these (MK3 and nba hangtime...both run fine, but no sound) I have all of the settings mentioned above and using .71.2b

| great post angrypants, but is there a conflict with 2 version of mameox? |
Nope you'll just have MAMEoX listed twice on your list of self-installed Emulators if you have 2 version of MAMEoX on your hard drive
Nice post I have been using a version of MAME-X since it played Mortal Kombat good with the default settings & have been wanting to play the other Mortal Kombats at good speed on the xbox
Here is how I set my buttons to mimic how I used to play on the SNES controller to maybe help some with having to figure out a decent why to set their buttons
Button 1 - Y (High Kick)
Button 2 - X (High Punch)
Button 3 - R Trigger (Block)
Button 4 - A (Low Punch)
Button 5 - B (Low Kick)
Button 6 - L Trigger (Run)
I just tested these I wouldnt call them perfect but they run quite well, MK3 still has issues, anyway does anyone know where to get the source I can only find 72 and up?

Technicaly I suppose its not perfect but it has sound and runs fast enough to be really really playable. More so than I thought they would be and enough so to be worth the time.

I have had no problems with the two versions. I have used xberenamer and called one mame84 and the other mame71 and they run just fine. I have all of my mame roms in a directory with mame84 and I also have the most recent version of kawax and fbaxx in there as well for any games that might have some proeblems as well as newer games not supported by mame. In a totally diffrent folder I have mame 71 and in the roms folder I have just the games that mame84 has had problems with which I really wanted to play, Its like 6 diffrent games over all. The way this is set up I can pretty much get every game I have to run at a speed with sound that makes me happy.

I found it at the usual places listed in the mame section in the older versions folder.

I only see the binary not the source?

lsd4me you want the binary if you wanna use it on the xbox but if you want the source to compile its at http://sourceforge.net/
