To do an upgrade to the latest UPDATE of OS On my HD where do i put it... and then i just hit recorey? Thanks

Put the recovery.bin on E:
And then yes, just hit recovery and wait for the box to shut down.

thanks appleguru! Hey i was softmodding a friends xbox and its an old 1.0 so i was half way figuring it out.... and then played some HALO on XBCONNECT on my modded xbox, leaving the 1.0 softmodd unplugged. Well now it wont load Splinter cell cause probably the clock loop. Flashes red. Before it would do that but it would load SC. ANyways any ideas on how i could use my XENIUM modded xbox to get into the 1.0 HD. So i can ftp back in the original C/folder. thanks

Is his HD unlocked?
Anywho, easiest way is to use a solderless adapter (or solder a new pinheader) into his xbox and use your xenium on that, you can then load your BIOSes on his xbox and lload his dash and stuff... and then copy back his c drive.

Is it sufficient to choose the Recovery mode in the Xenium OS menu in order to update the OS? Is it necessary to flip a switch on the Xenium Ice?

Yup, choosing recovery is fine. You only need to flip the switch when you can't get to the OS ;)
