Title: Newbie Surreal64 Black Screen
Post by: AntiStatic on February 07, 2004, 04:06:00 PM
I try to load Surreal64 and get a black screen. nothing.
I used the 007/font hack to get evox on my HD. I'm not using a loader of any sort.

I want to get Surreal64 working to play games that i cannot with PJ64.
I read the help thread, but it only says to flash my bios.
So far i havent touched the bios, i have no idea what difference flashing the bios will have overall, and if its anything like flashing bios on a pc mobo i know its fairly risky.

So is there a way i can get Surreal64 to load without touching the bios?
If there isnt, what effect will flashing the bios have on my xbox anyway?
I just want to justify the fact that i could fuck the xbox just to get some other 64 games to run.

EDIT: after looking at the TSOP tuts... can i even flash the bios without a modchip?

I'd reflash my xbox if I hadn't fitted a chip when I bought it. It's not hard, but you need to join the points on the Motherboard either with solder or conductive ink (Which is what I use it makes it incredibly easy)

Head on over to the TSOP section they're a helpful bunch in there.

And you can reflash the xbox fine using software expoits, evox can reflash most TSOP's but not 1.4 later you need raincoat for it. Oh and pray you don't have a Sharp TSOP (They are rare).
