Title: Super Smash Bros. Issue
Post by: Master-Chief on January 15, 2004, 12:40:00 PM
Hello,

I would just like to adress the issue with Super Smash Bros. running on 1964, Project 64, and UltraHLE. On 1964, when picking a character, you cannot see the hand to see which character you pick and you cannot change the teams or select the difficulty, etc. You have to play a little guessing game. The FPS is GREAT though!

For Project 64, the game runs choppy, but the hand that picks the characters and that stuff shows.

UltraHLE doesn't even run the game at all.

These were just some problems I would like to adress to the people. I have tried different roms, but I still have no luck. This emulator is so far the BEST emulator I have seen on Xbox (in my opinion), but Super Smash Bros. has some bugs that I would like to see fixed and I am sure others would too. If someone knows a way how to get it unchoppy in Project 64, that would be GREAT. Or if someone knows how to fix the character select issue on 1964 that would also be great. I would like someone to consider my idea, and try to make a change.

Under Project 64 it still runs choppy and 1964 doesn't have any choppy issues... the graphics just don't show up right! Anything else?  sad.gif

I have the same problem, its an emulator issue.. ive found nothin that can fix it

Actually, no its not.

I have both the U and the E [!] versions and i can see the hand fine.

Its the (AGS intro hack) version that has the disappearing hand (atleast for me). Im running the same build everyone else is, so i couldnt possibly see why my rom would work fine, and yours would not.

Would Surreal 64 show you whether or not you're running the version with the AGS Intro Hack? Cuz it shows mine as (U)[!] as well and my hands are invisible (on VS modes only) but can be seen fine on one player mode.

I'm assuming someone is gonna tell me to get Good N64 but doesn't Surreal 64 do the same thing for you when you load roms up?

Works fine here 1.1, M7, evox dash. It works with the settings provided just don't bring up the save state menu.

The hand  doesn't work for me in VS mode either. I have tried two different U [!] versions. Same results.

Theres only one (U) [!] version. Thats the point...so that only a known good dump floats around.

Mine works fine.  Then again, I dumped it myself so I don't have any of these "U!" versions or "AGS Intro Hack" versions or anything.  I guess that these are just bad dumps.

Iriez, I get the hand for a one player game, but not on multi-player. Can you check your rom and confirm? thanks!

Someone REALLY needs to figure out the problem because I got this European version thats 32MB and it won't even run on 1964!

If 1964 displays the problem for some people, and PJ64 doesn't then it's clearly an issue with 1964. Even if there are different versions of the (U)[!] rom involved, the fact is that PJ64 can handle it and 1964 can't.

yea.. i believe people are getting confused.. the hand shows up in 1 player, but in vs mode it does not (1964)

PJ64 - Everything works, but has some framerate issues

So Lantus and Iriez, I guarantee you if I were to send you my (U)[!] you will have the same problems I'm having using 1964.

Are yall using xbox's with 64mb of ram?

RAM has nothing to do with invisible textures. Its a problem with interpreting certian aspects of the native n64 graphics code on a x86

It must be a issue with Rice's plugin. We'll see if its fixed in the latest version.

The problems in Super Smash Brothers with 1964 is related to 1964 0.85's dynarec. Its simply a bug in the cpu emulation, it has nothing to do with the graphics plugin or RAM (lol). Try it on the pc and you'll see that you get the same results.

if any one is wondering i just tested on 1964 .99 on the pc and it ran perfect, so i would assume that after the new 1964 and rice sources comeout, whenever the next version of surreal comes out with those sources and graphics plugins incorperated the problem will be solved.
