I havent been floating around here as often as i once did. (Emulation GoldenAge for xbox)

but i do remember not too long ago some talk about a N64 hybrid EMU that was going to kick so much ass.............

what happened?

is it still in the works?

Still in the works.

Things are looking nicely. We are also edging closer to seeing 1964 .99 beta released, which will be a *huge* improvment (and playing 1964 right now is a huge improvment as it is from  pj64-x)

So all and all, good things are coming.

He's already given us hints that 64MB roms (like Pokemon Stadium) work now; among other hints.

Iriez, do you get to play test the N64 Emulators ?

If so , can you tell us if any of these games are playable on it yet. Any of the Pokemon games, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Part 1. 2 or 3 ?

Even if you could give us a little hint  smile.gif

yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

Dont mistake that for them working perfectly.

All of the listed are playing for me at full speed without hitches, but some (mario golf, mario tennis off the top of my head) have textures missing/errors in various parts of the game.

Sorry, left off the Y  dry.gif

And thanks Iriez for letting us know again wink.gif

And I can't believe your playing all the Mario Party games at full speed on the Xbox. That is cool biggrin.gif

I can't wait to play this Emu on the Xbox.

And Iriez, are you sure you don't need any help testing them out  tongue.gif

Other then the games I posted above, are there any other really good games on the N64 that we can't already play atm ?

Pilotwings.  It's playable to a degree in the latest PJ64x release, but there's a lot of graphical errors that detract from one enjoying the game.  I wonder if the 1964 release will address those issues.

I'm a bit lost here.
I've not been following N64 emulation so much.

There will eventually be TWO emulators?
1964 and then all the others rolled up in one?

It's all one; meaning 1964 is just among the blend going into the unnamed hybrid emulator. It's just mentioned so much, because of the 1964 update (.99 beta) on the way. That upcoming update is important, because we're hoping all the improvements that come from .99 beta will someday be included into the hybrid emulator.
At least that's my understanding. I'm very sure it's correct.

I've not played enough emus lately... a lot of real games, but no emus.  Need to try that again.

Rice's latest OS plugin adresses some issues, and its noticibly better, although not perfect. The majority of that annoying 'shadow' issue is resolved aswell as some texture errors.

Which recommended by 1964/pj64 is to be used with atleast a 1.4 ghz computer with 128mb ram (it uses a 40mb for the recompiler by default)

To say the least, it doesnt play perfectly smooth. I've heard people saying PD on the new .99 1964 private beta is very very smooth. Lets hope the core emulation has been optimized and speed up enough that it will run nicely on the xbox when its released.

No Mercy?... sorry...havnt tried it. Dont play wrestling games.

For those of you not understanding how 3 emulators can be rolled into one, you can just take the public version of pj64-x .70 for example

You have a 16mb and a 32MB option yes? Those are both different xbe's. The launcher just executes the xbe specified. Each emulator is compiled into its own xbe, and then launched from within the launcher. Its comparible to a dashboard.
