Post by: XPort on May 17, 2003, 11:48:00 AM
PCSXBox - PSX Emulator for XBox v2

What's New :
- Used new PCSX 1.5 source code
- CDDA playback
- Multi-disc support (go to options menu, then press Y to load new disc)
- Added more CPU options :
   + Disable XA sound processing
   + Always enable SIO IRQ
   + Black and White movies (speed up movies)
   + Disable CDDA
   + Use CPU interpreter (slower, but possibly more compatible)
   + Always enable SPU IRQ
   + InuYasha Sengoku Battle fix (might fix other games as well)

Here's What's New from the v1.5 PCSX sources :
  * Added translation support, thanks to Zydio.
  * Fixed several compatibility issues.
  * Improved NetPlay code, added NETsetInfo, thanks to JNS.
  * Fixed SW Ints, thanks to Xeven.
  * Fixed Mdecs timing issues, thanks to Xeven.
  * Fixed a bug related to Memcards in Xenogears.
  * Decode_XA.c now uses fixed point,
  * added NEGCON type to plugins.c/PsxBios.c
  * added a mingw32 port (yokota).
  * Added preliminary MacOSX code (Stefhane Conversy).
  * Fixed bug in CreateMcd (kitaro).
  * Added a 'NO PIC' image.
  * Pcsx now compiles without a recompiler.
  * Same small speedups.
  * Fixed RTPS/RTPT SXYP fifo issue, thanks to Xeven.
  * VSync now has a Start and a End wink.gif, thanks to Pete.

If anyone is able to successfully fiddle with all the options to get Ape Escape
working on PCSX for Windows (or Linux or any other non-XBox platform), then please
let me know and I'll look into adding analog support.

Thanks again to Linuzappz and Pete Bernert for making the source available.
Obviously this port would not exist without these people.

Stella, Gnuboy, SMSPlus, FCEUltra, HUGO, NeoPop, DGen, Bochs, HUGO-CD, FMSXBox,
Bliss, WinSTon, Gens, Z26, StepmaniaX, PCSXBox....what's next?

Enjoy!

Does the CDDA support mean that we can play off of playstation game cd's now?  And is that a netplay option?  I'm so confused!

Yes. There will be a PS2 emulator. Do not listen to what everyone else in the world, or the other 324 topics say about it.

Great work Xport!!

there is a few bugs but, for just being the second release it runs remarkably well

Crazy as it sounds I went out today and bought some playstation games that i miss playing so i could play em again. I dought you'll get any flak from Sony, afterall they make most of their money off of the games not the systems.

Try saying that to the Bleem people smile.gif (that was their argument but one of the main selling points of ps2 is its ability to play ppl's back catalogue of ps1 games)
Anyhow (hopefully) xport won't be in trouble since he isn't selling the emu of course. If I were m$ I'd buy up epsxe, and make the xb play old ps1 games and publicize it heavily -  the lawsuit sony vs m$ would sure be interesting wink.gif

Just tested wipeout 2097 and the BGM is all over the place, better without it which is a real shame.

I'd love analogue support in a future release, racing games NEED it.

Nevermind that, excellent work Xport.  One has to expect a certain degree of incompatibility for an emulator, let alone for a second release.

i noticed that in this emu even with the samsung the cdrs or cdrws dont run as well as the hd i got this problem with 1 skip like every 20 seconds......this only happenes to some games and this is even though my samsung plays xbox games perfectly on cdrs rws. If it comes down to using the hd or a cdrw/cdr disc, choose the hd if you have the space. Your games will run  lot smoother. i really didnt notice a difference in these two releases in terms of playability but there are a lot of new features. another great release by the way keep up the good work xport!

also, turn frameskip off and turn old frameskip on... it'll run better.

the main problem with bleem was you could do it right out of the box, with xbox you need a xbox and a modchip, which greatly limits the audience

and about ff tactics, it runs fine in HLE but wont save  sad.gif

Beggars can't be choosers moron.  Go plug in your psx and play your games off that.

its all about the coding..

basically one guy is trying to do what a team of coders spent months and months doing.. Im sure in time you will see it becoming better.. Hell im sure bleamcast went through some state that was similar performance to what we see now.

Just a question here though or a thought or a suggestion..

Hardware support would make it run so much faster.. Right now it looks like its in software rendering. If there was support for hardware acceleration, all speed issues would be solved..

I dont know much about the hardware or coding on xbox, so I dont know if it can be done.. but it would be a logical thing to work on adding
