Title: Unofficial Visual Boy Advance X 0.18
Post by: feflicker on February 15, 2003, 11:32:00 AM
Has anyone had problems with their zipped GBA roms (all public domain roms of course!) and UVBAX 0.18? (I never have used a previous version of UVBAX, so I don't know how relevant the version is.)

My rom list does not populate, but I can scroll down and see the highlighted entry change... I just can't see the entire rom list! I only see the highlighted rom! I have tried (2) different downloads...

I don't want to unzip my roms, because the change in size exceeds my allocated space for the roms...

Is their a better GBA emulator out there? I have heard gbax is alright, but haven't tried it yet.

I just found that one of my zipped roms was corrupt. Winzip and Winrar both report CRC errors... Reburning the disc, this one bad zip may have been causing the problem?

I did zip a few of these roms myself, and my winzip is set to max compression, instead of normal. Hope that wasn't it as well! I don't know which ones they were...

Anyone else with problems?

Finally got this working. Downloaded UVBAX 0.18 from a THIRD source, xbepatched it, and removed the (1) bad zip file. Now all the roms load and the app is stable.

From what I understand, some mod-chips patch the xbe "on the fly", and others don't. Mine doesn't, so I have to patch some of the homebrew I use using "xbepatch".

xbepatch makes development s/w run on a retail bios.
