Try a different encoding rate for the wma's.. I just looked at my quake2x directory and it has a \music directory with the wma's in there.. for encoding they are 128kbps/44khz

Screw that. Do what I do. Rip your Quake 2 CD soundtrack to CD-RW, and then let the Xbox encode it to wma to enure it is encoded correctly. Then just grab it out /E/TDATA/fffe0000/music/ when your hooked up to the Xbox via FTP, rename to the tracks to 01, 02, ect., and then put it in /F/Homebrew Games/Quake2X b3/music/. Since you just recently created that soundtrack, it should be the last folder in /E/TDATA/fffe0000/music/. It is as simple as that. I guess I am too lazy to download an app that converts from mp3 to wma.

10X Im going to try both.

Nope...no luck.
You see, I downloaded quake 2 a while ago without the music. Now, with the Quake 2x beta 3 stuff, I downloaded the tracks in mp3 format...change them to .wma, no luck. Burn them, an then rip'em, same results.
The directory in which Quake 2x is stored gotta do something with it?
Its on f:/games/Quake 2x
Everything works: CTF, bots, everything has worked so far, except that.
Another suggestions?

a piece of the puzzle?

I don't think that it comes with the .wad or .pak files, or whatever quake 2 uses. You need to get those from the origininal PC game. Try reading the readme, as it has that name for a reason.
I propose that all future readmes now use the name IMPORTANT INFO!!!!!! or ps2emulater.exe, so that people will actually click them. Perhaps clicking the readme could be required to validate the .xbe. I honestly don't think it's such an insane idea.

i tried to get the tracks playing for almost a week got pissed and gave up on it the music does add to the game but is it that important???

I used Windows Media Player to encode my Q2 music.
Windows Media Audio 9
192 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo 1-pass CBR
High quality music baby. It does't need to be 128 kbps. Then I just made a "music" folder in the folder that has the default.xbe. FTP'd the music files 01 - 10 to the music folder and all works fine.
I think I might have a guess as to why many people are having troube getting the music to work. Here is an example: name the encoded wma file "01" DON'T name it "01.wma" if you do....when you ftp it to the xbox....it will be named "01.wma.wma" and the game won't find it. Just name the files "01" - "10".
