Because 99% of TV's can't handle the resolution/contrast/luminance needed to properly display text and still images like webcomics.

Try setting your XBMC to use TTF fonts, you'll instantly notice the difference, it is one of the reasons pre-rendered fonts are used.

I think a comic reader will be easy to implement in XBMC's Python script stuff though.

XBMC *should* already handle cbr files.

Hi all,

I just tried viewing .CBR and .CBZ files through a SAMBA connection and it seems I am asked for the SAMBA user ID and password on every 'page' of the Comic Book Reader file.

If I click exit a couple of times I can briefly see the unpacked list of all the files in the CBR/CBZ - but then for some reason I am shown all the cached album covers from my music collection.

I am running about a month old CVS build of XMBC, I'll try the latest version and see if it's any different (though I didn't want to move to the latest version as I do not have a DHCP or DNS server at home - which will screw my networking between the xbox and my Windows PC).

XBMC does read cbrs which is nice, but i think you need a hdtv in order to read them legibly. its a bit washed out on my 27 inch tv.

i really need a hdtv

::shrugs::

Since which version does it display cbr?  for me I have to open each jpg indivually.. is there a quick way to skip to the next file?
