This is my first post in these forums, just got myself a modified xbox and I was wondering if anyone either knew of a decent web browser for the xbox or of any project to make one...?
If one doesn't exisit, I was thinking that with an SDK it'd probably be possible to port over the KDE projects KHTML engine to the Xbox to get something working - only problems would be the widgets which would require a complete rewrite - but I think this might be possible...
Unfortunately, it'd have to be produced on a dodgy MS SDK as the OpenXdk project is nowehere near mature enough to support this - hasn't even got sockets support...
Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas/hints?

Thanks for pointing out Lynxbox - I had found this but mistakenly discarded it because I thought it'd be like Lynx on *nix...
Sorry!!! Perhaps I should have said "a web browser which supports CSS, Javascript, Fonts, a DOM, etc..."

Being more specific would have helped.
At the current stage, no there isnt a fancyer browser than Linksboks. And, I think it will stay that way. And why would you wanna have a browser full of crap if it only works on 640*480 resolutions?).

Anyway, thanks Smoko - this has answered my questions - no-one seems to be working on such a project right now!!!
If I find a copy of the XDK anywhere then I'll give this a go in my spare time.

Firefox MIGHT be possible, though - just gotta hope someone PMs me with where to get the XDK from and I can give it a go myself... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

anyways, this works pretty good... no plugins, or anything special....
the keyboard is wierd but smart.. u could type really fast if u get used to it
i guess if u want a fancy browser,
a) linux --> ffox
dont port, write up a brand new browser LOL tht took a long time to write...

Linux isn't a good alternative. I only have X-DSL (live cd) and most users don't have any Linux on their box, too. I guess about 10% of all modded xbox owners have Linux.
A native xbox app would be better, in each case. Something like Firebox would be cool. I plan to install Linux on my laptop and then I'll have a look into KHTML.
Too bad, OpenXDK has no real network support.

Click in the left thumbstick, pull the right trigger, move the left ltumbstick to the right, and then press "Y"
Which (if you are in a field which you can enter text) should produce an ! on screen.
