I dont frequent the dev forums often cuz well, I just dont know that much, but I'd been curious about the progress of OpenDash and I came across this post. I'd had similar ideas in the past and started a post in the xbe exploit forums. Some of the info I found *may* be useful...

Some information-
I had to take a break from my researching, and I've probably forgotten most of what I'd come across, but I'm pretty sure it was evident in the thread that having the bios reroute the traffic ultimately seemed to make more sense than modifying every xbe that requires access.
With Live blocking being a standard on just about any bios (as well as nkpatcher), it seems logical to think that rather than just block the traffic, attempt to re-route it. I don't know if that'd be a more difficult way of going about it or not since patching xbes has become a pretty standard practice, it might just be easier to go with that.
I'm sure the guys that handle Kai/XBC would have a better understanding of the networking issues we're up against, but it was kind of tough getting anyone on board for the project because no one really wanted to attempt an XBL hack. My whole theory was that we weren't going to be hacking the actual Live service, but I couldn't manage to get the support I was looking for, and I don't have the programming/networking knowledge required to do it on my own. Good luck with this. Maybe we'll see some results in the near future.

James simulated XBL server idea
Altough hacking the xbe and decrypting XBL packets are great ideas, they have major drawbacks.
Xbe hacking would most likely require hacking for each game.
Decrypting packets just won't work.... so we even know what encryption it uses?
The idea
The idea is to create a program for the xbox that simulates itself as being a XBL server. Some problems:
How to re-route the traffic
How the xbox "talks" to Xbox live, like in sign-ins and things like that.
uh.... what if it tries to submit data, such as stats.
Since the xbox encrypts data coming out of it anyway, encryption would not be a problem.

If it will be hacked, it will also be patched...
I have a better idea. Buy yourself a headset and use only trial codes ;p. Yup, you'll have to change your Gamertage every two months, but look how much money you can spare ;].

even if a way to create XBL subscription codes was found, after MS gets loads of complaints that the ppls subscription codes wont work, they will definately fix it
. I don't like it so I don't pay for it so I use Xbox connect, really you are wasting your time doing this, it's a good idea but is it practical when MS will patch the holes straight away.
