Is any group working on a way to hack live info in the xbox so you could connect to another server instead of to xbox live, and or making a program to host the xbox games?
I know many people with 100mbit links who would host it. just a idea props to anyone who can pull it off!
developers is it possible?

Hate to burst your bubble, but not going to happen. First off, your internet connection would have to lead from your co-lo straight to an OC3 (or better) connection just to prevent slowdowns (should you be looking for a lot of ppl to use this), plus you'd have to have some way (i.e., software like what's on the XBox Live disc) to point them to said servers, PLUS you'd need a somewhat modified version of the games (for moderators to bash the ignorant and pain in the ass players), plus you'd need to have ppl to mod(erate) the games, PLUS...get the picture? This idea is called Total Cost of Ownership. So, not only do you need the servers (yes, more than one for each game AND to distribute the load for one particular game), but the software, manpower, other equipment, etc., etc.
Why else is XBox Live and other online gaming servers located in server farms?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...you need bandwidth of 64-256Kbps per person in both directions. Otherwise the gameplay will get choppy. Why else is XBox broadband only?

Its the developers, most DECENT games come with system link. Just for the reason that, XBConnect works on an unmodded xbox. They won't remove system link, if its a feature that people want.

Wellllll...after reading some of the notes in the XDK...you'll hafta deal with packet encrytion and overhead associated with hashing said encryted packets...plus, it gets trickier with the various protocols you can use (TCP, UDP and VDP <--- Voice & Data Protocol, must be for the XBL communicator to function as such). Everything ends up wrapped up as a UDP packet (even TCP) when transmitting, so one would need to develop reliable UDP transceiving code in the program(s). If you know something about networking and packets (I'm hoping to be CCNA certified by next year), you should know about the overhead associated with the TCP/IP protocol in general. It's that overhead that generally leads to the need for a fatter pipe for transceiving, especially if you are communicating with more than two devices. Granted, a T-1 may be overkill, but it all depends on how many players would potentially connect to the server (good network engineers plan for expansion of the network and the expected needs for the future). I'm basing 64Kbps off of the figures from the documentation for the Xbox, xbconnect states 128Kbps for most games and 256Kbps for Halo. Should this be viable (and IF M$ wouldn't bust anyone's balls for it...seriously doubt it tho), multiple servers could be used used for distributing the load. So many ppl connect and the server could intelligently reroute players to load balance the traffic. Problem is, you'd hafta write software based off of XBL (or off of some other server/client application), and you'd hafta tweak the program to be capable of intelligent load balancing (could dummy it tho with, say, an ini file stating that if more than a certain amount of players sign on, then route them to another server). Reverse engineering is a big no-no according to laws (especially the DMCA...mega conglomerate (sp?) corporations with many lawyers in their pockets, like M$, like to hide behind it), so that leaves XBL out of the question. Maybe if something like xbconnect could be modified to a point, that could possibly work.

why dont they sue for xdk? its not costing them money for you to go around making your marbles and emulating n64. thats actually helping the console sell. stealing users from their million dollar baby aka xbox live? that WILL cost them money, and they're not going to like it!

Who in their right mind would accept credit for it?
That's like hacking a government site and leaving your phone number for them to call.
Anyone with the skills to do it would understand that, and I doubt claim credit.
Can't sue what no one knows released, then they could only attack sites that have it, but as we saw with DeCSS, you can't get rid of every site.
