it all depends at what stage you are at.

1) Cant code at all
2) can code but not in C++
3) can code in C++ but not for the xbox.

people in the first section should buy a book or take a course, online tuts are very rarely complete enough to teach. once they have learnt to code then move on to section 2.

People in the second section could check out some of the C++ and Direct X tuts available on the net. once they can code in c++ move on to section 3.

People in the third catagory should just check out the sample files that come with the dev kit.

Hope that helps.

oh http://www.xfactordev.net/ has a hello world 'tut'

jfuller I fit into cat 3, but I have no idea where to find a developers kit.  Where do you suggest I look, and is this dev kit leaked MS licensed software?

Yeah, it's leaked form licensed stuff.

Where to find? "The Usual Places" of course.

As for learning it, you need to be at step 3, if your not you'll need to do a course.
Once your at step 3 you can learn by reading the XDK's documentation and playing with the sample code.

I'll tell you where you WON'T find it (seriously):
*IRC
*Newsgroups
*Kazaa, Napster and other MUSIC sharing programs
*Websites
*FTP servers

Basically ppl are only going to let you download something the size of the XDK if they get something, say downloads, in return wink.gif

Well, if I can't find it in those places, and I can't ask for it, I guess I'm SOL  blink.gif
I fall into cat 3, but I can't find the damn thing.  This is the first time anyones has even hinted to where it could be found

Well, it's no longer true that you won't find it in many of those places.

The XDK WAS leaked. It's out there. Just look.

cool.gif I don't put words in caps for nothing
c) Yes you could actually find it in at least (1) of those places I listed iff you have the time (and the money...) I wouldn't bother.
