Title: Porting Vnc To Xbox
Post by: No_Remorse_666 on January 19, 2003, 12:46:00 PM
First off let me say I am not a programer/developer.
I was just curious on how tuff a project it would be to port
ann app like VNC to the Xbox. I thought such an app would be
handy. For example, surf the web, change your shares in relax, etc.
I'm sure others could think a good uses for it aswell.
I am not making any kind of a request. I was just curious to
see how hard it would be do, and to see if any others would have an interest in it.

thanks for thoughts in advance.

Sounds like an excellent project to me.  I don't think it would be too overly difficult, but probably not highly useful.

I disagree!
I am a tinkerer by nature, and do an awful lot of my work remotely..  as in from work..
Usually I use putty since I have to be on a windoze box at work, to get to my nix boxes, and vnc for several things.  Ideally, since the ftp currently "working" on xbox is fairly limited, a ssh (as opposed to telnet) would be the way to go, but if lacking that, vnc would be GREAT..
Funny thing, I was searching the forum to make sure somebody hadn't already suggested, but was going to suggest the vnc myself!! tongue.gif

VNC is a part of Media X Menu's "Dashboard Enhancement Project" - both server and client.

Yeah, MXM will really rock as a dashboard when we get the ball rolling on that.
