Title: Remote Debugging

Long experience in coding c++ and even directx. But totally new to Xbox dev.

However, I did install XDK on my laptop and can now compile and even automatically let VStudio transfert the whole stuff into the right place. Just added an extra xbmkdir "$(RemoteDir)\media" before the xbcp of the postbuild step. Execute even triggers the application.  cool.gif

I could of course be satisfied, but you know about mankind, ... never enough.

So my next step is to get access to remote debug, and if I can't, deeply understand why.

I learned there is around a 'XBox Devkit Recovery Disc' that has to be deployed on the xbx. I also read that this could definitely broke it. I must admit that sounds strange to me! I have a v 1.0, with Bioxx chip, and flashed a Complex 1.02 Debug bios in it. I also have a complete backup of my C: E: X: Y: Z: drives. If I understood well, this devkit disc will overwrite my system files on C: and perhaps on the others too, and also reflash my eeprom.

This is where I feel like a newbye: people speak of bios and eeprom. It seems that those things are different. I mean, I know that bios is a piece of software and eeprom hardware, but it seems that the soft in the eeprom is not a 'bios'. Am i wrong?  sad.gif

If this recovery disk reflash my bios, I have no problem to get back to the previous one, as I flash it via parrallel port.
If it is my eeprom that is reflashed, could I use the new config magic to first create a backup of my original and then restore it?

I must admit that they are still many holes in my knowledge about xbox. Could someone please fill them?

Anyhow, the real question is: does all this provide me a debug xbox able to support remote debugging?

Has anybody succeeded to deploy and run this piece of software?

I would really enjoy a solid debugger to support homebrew community.

PS: if this content is not acceptable, just remove it. Difficult to know where is the limit ...   unsure.gif

your answer lies in a post did a few months ago..

search for the keyword: XBDM
Use ANY_DATE (not just last 30)

then find the Topic "Retail Becomes Debug Kit"   IT should be the top one...

read my reply (5th from top)

detailed instructions..

and you DONT need the recovery disc..
