XBox Media Player should handle this just fine. You'll have to edit the XML configuration file (it might do this by default...), but it is very possible.
should be easy to do, too!

Hi,
i got the exact same problem.. actually i realize that if i spent a couple DVD trying out i would succeed.. but i don't have any DVDRW (only DVDr) and i would like some help on getting a couple of my DIVX on a DVD'r and getting them to work on my XBOX with the B6player. I don't have evoX installed (and don't want it for now).

Hi,
i perfectly know how to burn DVDr
' i've burned about a dozen Xbox compilation.. with the cpumenux.. the thing i don't know is how to configure the player XML to get it to work on a DVDr without having to copy it on the HD. So if somenone could help me telling me how i should configure this file and place the movies/shots etc...
<configuration>
<media>
<- if you're running from HDD you should configure these two settings ->
<map>E:,Harddisk0\Partition1</map>
<map>F:,Harddisk0\Partition6</map>
<install>E:\xbplayer</install>
<- if you want, you can specify the directory XBPLAYER will start in ->
<localmedia>E:\xbplayer\media\video</localmedia>
<- remove the asterisks and modify to assign your XBOX IP address and gateway ->
<- if you don't, XBPLAYER will use EVOX settings if available, else it will use DHCP ->
<localhost*>192.168.1.11</localhost*>
<gateway*>192.168.1.1</gateway*>
<- remove the asterisk and modify to get XBPlayer to connect to your XStream server ->
<remotehost>192.168.1.2</remotehost>
<- modify file type filtering or remove completely ->
<filemask>avi|bmp|dat|jpg|mp3|mpg|mpeg|wmv|xbe</filemask>
<- you can specify the location of your dashboard (must be on the C: drive) ->
<dashboard>msxboxdash.xbe</dashboard>
</media>
</configuration>

The DVD boots just fine.. but hangs on the xbox logo
i really don't understand whats wrong with it
-
because i don't want evox on my box for now... and i hate not getting things to work
'
If you have succeeded in burning such a dvd PLEASSSSSEEEE Post your config.xml so that i can try
-
I'm with poulpy, I don't want to run crap off my hard drive either. I get the same situation where it is hanging on the xbox logo. I to want to just run movies off of dvd-r/rws. I have tried a couple things as well, like deleting all the xml files and just burning the xbe in the root, and same thing, hang at logo. I wonder if this is a mod chip problem or if there is some configuration that needs to be done. I'm using an x-ecuter in my box. poulpy if you figure this out please post your findings, and I will keep messing around as well.
-
i was wondering if anyone had tried to delete the 2 lines
<map>E:,Harddisk0\Partition1</map>
<map>F:,Harddisk0\Partition6</map>
and what are they here for...
-
I removed those 2 lines and still had it hang on the xbox logo. There must be something else that is the problem. What mod you using poulpy?

' i had tried a similar way but i forgot to put any screenshots and to configure it... did you ??
Anyway hope you enjoy you're divx now
thanx for the coasters
