Post by: [oMega] on July 31, 2002, 12:02:00 AM

Its the new proggie that updates the clock from the internet like windows does...

I find it pretty stupid...

Props go for the guy who developed it, its just  that, i dont like the idea itself tongue.gif

Avoids the hassle of redoing the time every time you unplug.  Of course, I run evoX anyways, so I don't set it anyways...

Lol, dont waste 20 seconds of your life setting the clock and date...

That is just ridiculous wink.gif if you ask me!

Can somebody answer this definitively, as I don't really want to try this out myself (rather learn from other's mistakes):

1. If Evo-X is the default dashboard on the hard drive, what happens when the clock needs to be set?

2. Will apps still boot up on CD if Evo-X is the default dashboard, but the clock is not set?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Hmm, good point. I heard that if the clock is not set EvoX would not load?

If that is so, then maybe this little feller is your solution. tongue.gif

Hey, u found a use for the proggie!!! biggrin.gif

Really, M$ should have made the clock run off a button battery, not a capacitor.  If they'd have done that, there wouldn't be much need to sync your box to an internet time clock, just set it once and let it go...

As it is, if you disconnect your box from a power source for more than a few minutes, you have to input a time.  Pain in the butt....pain to the max...smile.gif

There you go, die-hard xbox modders....biggrin.gif

that sounds like a challenge!

Is anyone out there bold enough to try Drew's Idea? smile.gif

Might be a project to do after everything else is done...i.e. Case mod, controller light-up mod, etc...smile.gif

And as Drew mentioned, it would apply to all your dashboard settings, not just the time...cool.gif

And aside from that, you're only out $200 if you fail...and we all know that everyone on Xbox-Scene.com forums is an infalliable hax0r mod god...wink.gif

I think we should get Epox to try it! After all, he's a master when it comes to soldering, and I'm sure he could figure out where to put everything. What do you guys think?

Most probably, if he did it, he would have another dead xbox in his hands. tongue.gif

You d00dz are heartless man

But, the thought of Epox soldering a bios with an acetylne torch or a mig welder is pretty funny, I have to admit...smile.gif

thats kinda sad, a group makes a program like that, and im sure it took a long time too!  but its useless, lol.  oh yeah and xtender 1.1's make it so u dont have to reset the time ever.  it doesnt keep the same time but it takes away the requirement for u to have to set it.

Well, I must say that little XBWatch utility saved my butt last night at 2AM after I flashed the TSOP and upgraded the HD to 120GB.

I was unable to get to the MS dashboard even booting with the evoX CDRW.

I simply ran it and synched!  The MS dash was instantly available.  If it was not for it I would have screwed.

KUDOS to the developer(s)!  One life saving utility.

Can you give us more details on this little adventure?

Was EvoX your default dashboard? Did it boot fine, but M$ dash would not load from the linked in menu? Did you run xboxwatch from the hard drive or from a disc?

Well, I thought that my sig spoke for itself in how I am setup....  huh.gif

but here we go again:

1) EvoX 2.2 BIOS on TSOP (modchip removed)

2) EvoX Dashboard running from C on 120GB HD

3) MS Dashboard renamed to "msxboxdash.xbe" and linked in menu.ini with @3

The point is that because of the mods and constant updates the clock was f@$#$d-up and the MS Dash would not load.  Hence the life saving use of the XBWatch util.

YES XBWatch WORKS!  Honestly I think it's one of the best add-on utils I have!

i kno i hate it, but its a start of the xbox being able to connect to the internet, maybe we can mod it and make it go to a webpage, and start from there to make a web browser.

Well, see that's better, constructive criticism.

I would love nothing more than a nice web browser on my XBOX  biggrin.gif
