The infamous boot disk I just wish that that fantasy would go away.

if it's too good to be true it probably isn't true unfortunately..
I think i'm gonna order a pre-modded xbox, save the frustration of opening the xbox and using my non-existent soldering skills.

I'm ordering from premodded.com, should be getting back to everyone and posting a record of the purchase.
I sent them my xtender, to put on a "used" xbox, since the warranty is up. It will be here Monday, assuming their $20 2-day shipping is guaranteed, if not, tuesday.
Cheers.

oh well hopefully someone can put the SDK/XDK boot disc on ftp so it can be tested on a modded retail... (hint, hint)

My thoughts on BootDisk.
Why can't somebody make one.
Run assigned code to boot up xbox then execute unassigned code and put the extender code on the hard drive to boot unassigned code until xbox is removed from power!!
Is this possible?

Also i dont think the retail xbox machines are capable of flashing their own bios.
I could be wrong though (hopefully, because a modified recovery disk would be the perfect way to mod you bios!)

The Xbox repair disk.
If it only runs on a dev box as suspected then it means it contiains unsigned code or at least somthing non standard. Therefore even if it was released onto the scene and the bios image changed thn you would still need a chipped machine to boot it, which kind of defeats the whole object of the exercise.
This is all pretty much academic anyways as the lines required to flash the bios on a domestic X-box are not connected by default.
This probably doesnt help too much but hopefully it will prevent too many people running down blind allyways.
