A softmod is normally kernel dependant. Your 1.6 and 1.0 will have different kernels.
For a softmod, the harddisk needs to be locked with the correct password.
When you solve those 2 issues, you can transfer the harddisk.
To lock the harddisk with the correct password, you will need to know that xbox eeprom contents.
You could change the kernel version by changing the softmod font files. (If you are using a font exploit)
Those are ernie.xtf and xbox.xtf. Just make sure you transfer them to the harddisk in the correct order.
regards.
Thank you Obcd for your help. Just a quick question: I am not sure what you meant by transferring the files in the "correct order".

Only the ernie.xtf file is kernel dependant. The xbox.xtf is the asame for every kernel version.
When the xbox boots, it scans the font folder for existing fonts. It's important that the ernie.xtf appears first in the list of files the xbox is getting from the folder scan.
If you would delete only the ernie.xtf and copy it back over to the xbox harddisk, it would appear after the xbox.xtf when the folder is scanned.
So the correct procedure is transferring both files to your pc, deleting them both, transferring the correct ernie.xtf back to the xbox harddisk and transferring xbox.xtf back to the xbox harddisk.

Awesome. Thank you for the detailed reply.
Have a fun week.
