edit: I also have Evolution X, and XBMC copied to my Apps folder, i tried running both dashboards to see if the network would work, and nada.
another edit: I'm connecting via Ethernet card. (if that helps any)
This doesn't sound like a softmod problem so the hardware forum might be a better choice.
Does your xbox have an IP address? Does the lights behind the xbox on the NIC light up? Can you ping your xbox? Are you going through a router or it's a crossover cable from PC to xbox?
And did you change any of the unleashX settings? I assumed you are using unleashX dash for ftp.

i went to go hot swap my hard drive, hard drive fell on the fan or something, hit something else, sparks flew. i know what i need to fix it its just not worth the time.
