Title: Linux Cd-rom Not Found (xboxhdm)
Post by: Necro-File on February 15, 2008, 05:15:00 AM
Going through all this crap to expand my xbox's hard drive after almost 2 years of not having the thing and I can't get the new drive prepped because xboxhdm is telling me the disc isn't in the drive.

DVD-ROM drive is set to Slave and the HDD is set to master on the jumpers, and they are in the appropriate slots on the cable. What I am wondering, however, is if the problem is because I am using them on the same cable, because my computer only has one (1) PATA connector (ABIT IP-95 motherboard). Could this pose a problem? Will I need to dig out an older machine that has two seperate PATA buses?

I have the same problem and have tried multiple configurations hd on primary ide whit cd on secondary both on primary both on secondary. I found a few threads about renaming isolinux.boot to boot.cat and it still didn't fix the problem.
Cdrom boot and seems to load fine goes all the way into linux after hitting 1 at the first screen then when I type xboxhd it searches for something on hda, hdb, and so on upto like hdj I think then says Linux Cd-rom Not Found

I am sure it's an easy fix with something missing from the copy of xboxhdm that we have. Also I couldn't find it in the usual place which category is it under? I had to download from a website.

I fixed my problem.
I was trying to use an intel p4 2.6 with 2gb of mem and when I dug an old system out of the closet it worked perfect. Same harddrive and boot cd just a different WAY OLDER pc as suggested above.
