Title: Help With Hotswap
Post by: Haplo_64 on February 13, 2008, 12:28:00 PM
I have a problem as well, following the tutorials to the letter (like TheAddict)
No matter what softmod hotswaping i do, whenever i use the linux boot-up cd and choose option 2, i get:

Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init!
Code: 0f 0b 9c 00 a7 54 32 c0 58 e9 ff fe ff ff 8b 44 24 04 85 c0

which really sucks.

To be honest Kingroach. I couldn't tell you. I dont have small enough torx screwdrivers to extract the guts of the machine. I can only get the top of the case off, which gives me access to the IDE cables obviously.

Are certain HDDs, or DVD's used during building the box that are used with the relevent CPU'S/Mobos? cos I can tell you for sure then

EDIT: or do you mean in the PC that I am trying to hotswap with?

cos if thats what you mean then I can tell you no worries..

*scurries off to check the system

That would be a no.. Asus Mobo, and P3 CPU

But wait.. theres more!!

I have pretty much given up on hotswapping cause I'm not a massive fan of playing with live cables, so I built my own action replay device and bought a used copy of Splinter Cell to try and do the gamesave exploit.. I'm having problems with that too, but realise that this isn;t the appropirate thread for those questions... still searching for answers too.

I would still like any help you can give me with the first problem though, as I plan to buy a few more boxes and mod them for various purposes.

Cheers
