Title: Softmod Installers Aren't Working
Post by: the kage on December 10, 2005, 08:07:00 PM: Hi, I have been trying to softmod my xbox today but so far no installers have worked for me. I have tried Ndure, UXE installer 2.8 and 2.7 . Those three gave me a black screen after launching the installer. I also tried using softmod installer deluxe 2.0 but it gave me the error 21 "needs servicing." I am using splinter cell (ntsc), i have the 5960 dash and my kernal is 5101. I am also using action replay to transfer the saves. Are my problems from the action replay corrupting the large saves? If so is there a smaller exploit that I can use that will allow me to ftp so I can ftp the Ndure installer or will I have to buy another action replay? Sorry if this has been answered but the search button isn't working.

then use a gamesave that has evox only (900K) then FTP the real save to the xbox

I tried to use one called splinter_cell_exploit-ntsc but when I try to put it on my AR it says that it isn't a valid xbox save. I also tried extracting the UDATA folder from the original zip and zipping the UDATA folder. That had the same result.

Post by: the kage on December 15, 2005, 08:19:00 PM: Ok, well it seems that there isn't a softmod installer that I can find that is small enough not to be corrupted by my AR card. If I buy an xbox memory card can I use that with my current AR docking station to transfer the save so it doesn't get corrupted?

Post by: the kage on December 17, 2005, 12:28:00 PM: Well I looked through the usual places again and the smallest I could find that used Splinter Cell and would go on my card was the old version of Ltools. It was 3.5 mb. I tried to use it but when I selected checkpoints on Splinter Cell, it just froze. There was still music playing but nothing was happening on screen and I couldn't do anything with my controller. Anyway, do you think you could give me the name of an evox only gamesave that is small??

Post by: the kage on December 17, 2005, 06:13:00 PM: Well I have already got that one. When I try to put it on my card it says it isn't a valid xbox save. I unzipped it to find a UDATA folder. I ziped the UDATA folder but that was invalid also.. Inside the UDATA folder are 2 folders each with long names consiting of numbers. I tried to zip each of those separately and put both of them on my card but that gave me the same result.

there are two saves you have to transfer one then the other...

Post by: the kage on December 19, 2005, 02:13:00 PM: Ok. So after fiddling with the small evox only exploit I got it so it would be a valid xbox gamesave and it's now on my AR card. So do I run this installer and set up a full softmodded xbox and then transfer the ndure installer using ftp or do I just start the installer and ftp right away?

Post by: the kage on December 30, 2005, 05:37:00 PM: extract the zip. Open the udata folder and you will see 2 folders. Create a new folder here called UDATA. Move one of the 2 folders into the new UDATA folder. Zip it. Name it something like part 1 and then do the same for the other folder. You will then have 2 zips to put on your card. It went on my card fine but when I try to run it on my xbox I got error 21 I'm still trying to find an xbox memory card. I found a no name one but I dont want to risk it. I'm going to try and find an offical card.

Post by: Epaige on December 30, 2005, 06:34:00 PM: If your trying to run the save off the mem card it wont work you need to put the save on the Xbox hd...Not sure if that helps but good luck...

Also you should try Krayzies Ndure installer...That is under exploits/packages...at the usual places...

Post by: the kage on December 30, 2005, 08:20:00 PM: You are in the same boat as me. You are using AR right? We must have the AR's that corrupt the gamesaves. Once I find a ms mem card I think I will finally have a modded xbox. My last resort will be trying to hotswap. Let me know if you figure anything out.
