Title: Simple Question
Post by: mantorok on August 08, 2005, 11:37:00 PM
C,F and G are not HD, they are partitions, and if you unlock the HD you will get in big trouble if you font have the eeprom saved. Softmod doesnt run in a softmoded xbox, just modchip.

If you have a softmodded xbox
DON'T UNLOCK YOUR HARDRIVE
it will cause it not to boot and get an error screen
Mochips can do it because they bypass the bios looking to see if its lock or not
and since you softmod only works after the retail bios is booting the HD it will fail

not really, just use evoX to backup your eprom, save it to your PC.

errr......... correct me if I am wrong, but unlocking doesn't give you any extra space.

wait a sec.

you want to ENABLE them, right? Unlocking is something different.

anyways, a stock xbox HD does not have a G partition that you can enable. Only a few have a small F partition. This can be accessed by formating the F drive and enabling it in the dashboard. C partition is already enabled, but don't tuch that one. As you are running a softmod, that's where your Vital files are stored. Another vital folder is E:\dashboard\. Do not delete/rename that either. To use a G partition you have to get a bigger harddrive (bigger than 137Gb) and put it into your xbox.

my input, F can be 247gigs before (possible) corruption, therefor G is only needed on 250+gig hd's

Since you're running UnleashX, you can go into the System menu and then to the Format menu.  Password is Xbox by default....  Then you choose F:\ and there you go!  If you've got a compatable HDD, you've got an F:\ 'drive'

Later!
