i'd say that the single biggest advantage of this installer is that it loads a shadowc image and then copies your stock C drive to it. when you reboot after the installation, you already have a shadow c drive running with all of your stock files. this means newbies don't have to mess around with shadow c drives anymore which is good because in my experience...most of them screw up...
it also has a lot of security checks in it, but i've looked at waffletools and his certainly isn't unsafe y'know? so it's not really a huge advantage.
i think right now the biggest improvement this installer needs is MA and SC support.

ok, someone has PMed me a problem with running topspin ncaa combo by using this installer, has anybody else come across this problem? I thought that this particular game required the origional fonts, and shadowc should eliminate this problem. I want to see if others are having the same problems.

yeah and when i got one of the older versions, i edited all of the menus and it crapped out before i rememebered that it loads npatchers which load dashboards and by default, they look in the 007 folder for the dash. so you'd need to change all of those too....just a heads up!
one way you COULD get it to work through another gamesave is: copy 007 gamesave to xbox, then make an MA or SC gamesave that simply runs the dash from the 007 folder. ingenius...sort of...not really
as for topspin not working....tell them to turn the xbox on without a game in, let it go to their dashboard, then put in topspin. otherwise it will load before nkpatcher and won't get the retail fonts and will die.

it's a holiday so i'm bored so i'm mostly done with an MA version...i'll try it out on my stock drive probably tomorrow at some point and tell you how it went.
basically the things that need to be changed are:
config.xml (change 007 to MA folders)
evox.ini (a few instances of 007)
default1.xbe and default2.xbe (need to load dash from MA folders)
anything i'm forgetting? drop me a line. if you're hoping to help on this project, for god's sake just PM me and i'll send you what i've got done, that way we won't have 5 people all doing the same exact thing! haha

not yet that I know of. I have PM'ed devz3ro on it but so far no replies as of yet....
on another note, I have been working on the MA installer. It is not done yet but some progress has been made. so far the eeprom and HD backup is working all through unleashx (no more evox), but after the first part of the install, I get an error 21. it must be something I overlooked in the script. I will keep you informed of when the next update of 007 is ready (no evox) and I will release MA at the same time.

there is no proof of any hd scanning. that's why I made a similar on/off script in my installer. The only things need to be changed are the fonts and the xboxdash.xbe. Saves a lot of time.

Damn, am I an idiot, I was not thinking at all...I couldnt find it, man I thought he might have been talking about something else, because "click" and "right"..I thought it might be in the white blank spot to the "right" of the text and webdesign. I thought it was a tab because of one guy said he couldnt find the tab,so I thought "Its A hidden tab", then I finally got the "source". Me with as good as I am with HTML, and alittle bit of web designing shouldve got in the spot, im an idiot.

Ok, am I missing something? I donwloaded both versions. Copied over the root folders into UDATA, went into the Memory Management panel, and neither 007 or Mech Assault showed up.
I know I didin't copy anything to the wrong place or anything, I've done this a MILLION times with other exploits, so what am I missing here?
Also I booted up 007 just in case the game save was just invisable for some reason, but no, when I said to load game from Hard Drive, it simply rebooted my XBOX.
Anyhow, you can't copy the save game to your memory card for a non-moded xbox, if you can't see it.
Please help, thankx!

I deleted ALL files. OPened up my FTP program AGAIN, went inot the UDATA directory, and copyied the 4541000d directory directly into UDATA.
Once again, NO game save is there.
I can't be doing anything wrong.

I don't own Mech Assaut, but I did do this:
Deleted all directories.
Installed 007 Save Game.
it did not show up as 007 or Blackwar in mem manager.
Delted 007 save game, isntalled Mech Assault one...

Not sure I would use it ... since I want to be AS SAFE as POSSIBLE ... but ... I wanted to ask.
If it does ... it would be nice to have a FEATURE if MOD is in PLACE YELLOW LED.
COLD BOOT LIVE SAFE MODE SOLID GREEN LED.

Ok, this time I used the 007 Raincoat kit. Delted everything in the 00000etc directory, replaced it with the crap from BlackWar...
shows up in memory manager, crashed XBOX.
Tried it on an un-modded XBOX, and....
...it worked.
So that's good, but I still don't know why it does not show up as a game save for 007 or Blackwar without being fixed first.

it uses nkpatcher 10, not a hacked bios. nkpatcher 10 doesn't have LED support yet (to my knowledge). isn't there a way to do it with the fonts? i thought there was but not sure how...

now, for the issue of it not showing up. you need to scroll down to about the "T",s like someone else suggested. the gamesave name is "The Blackwar Installer"
Also, yes I forgot to mention that to run this in MA you have to hit "run linux", even though linux is nowhere near this package. I tried changing this but then the exploit just wont launch. If someone knows how to change this and have it still work, please PM me with the info on how to do this.
Also, It wouldnt hurt if all of the other gamesaves are gone (if you are using 007, delete these FIRST before you put the exploit gamesave on, the same for MA).
and, to those that like to PM me about finding a bug and then complaining that you cant find it, DONT PM ME YOU FOUND A BUG AND THEN ASK ON HOW TO GET THIS!!! this is a really big waste of time going through all of that reading, and it doesnt help those that really did find a bug or those that really do need help (so far nobody has pmed me about a bug or major problem yet, cool!). Any PM's wanting to know how to get it will just be deleted. I am not being a dick bout this, I just dont want to get banned from here, that is all. Besides, once it hit the usual places it will be easier to find, until then I am sorry for having to do it this way.
as for the led idea, I am thinking about changing it to orange, the same that the exploit uses during install. when I first started this I seen way to much red around the eject button, so less is better, lol.
as for the SC release, I will begin on this on monday. the kids have a few days off from school, and they really want to play on the xbox again, lol. If this one goes just as easy as MA did, you can expect to see it out monday night/tuesday at the latest.

now, for the issue of it not showing up. you need to scroll down to about the "T",s like someone else suggested. the gamesave name is "The Blackwar Installer"
Also, yes I forgot to mention that to run this in MA you have to hit "run linux", even though linux is nowhere near this package. I tried changing this but then the exploit just wont launch. If someone knows how to change this and have it still work, please PM me with the info on how to do this.
Also, It wouldnt hurt if all of the other gamesaves are gone (if you are using 007, delete these FIRST before you put the exploit gamesave on, the same for MA).
and, to those that like to PM me about finding a bug and then complaining that you cant find it, DONT PM ME YOU FOUND A BUG AND THEN ASK ON HOW TO GET THIS!!! this is a really big waste of time going through all of that reading, and it doesnt help those that really did find a bug or those that really do need help (so far nobody has pmed me about a bug or major problem yet, cool!). Any PM's wanting to know how to get it will just be deleted. I am not being a dick bout this, I just dont want to get banned from here, that is all. Besides, once it hit the usual places it will be easier to find, until then I am sorry for having to do it this way.
as for the led idea, I am thinking about changing it to orange, the same that the exploit uses during install. when I first started this I seen way to much red around the eject button, so less is better, lol.
as for the SC release, I will begin on this on monday. the kids have a few days off from school, and they really want to play on the xbox again, lol. If this one goes just as easy as MA did, you can expect to see it out monday night/tuesday at the latest.

Basically it means that if shadowc is enabled and you try to install, the installer will format your shadowc and install the exploit there thinking its the real c:.. If msdash is fooled you can't expect other dashes not to be as well..
My installer suffers the same flaw, as do all others that create shadowc..

if unleashx makes the led another colour it would hav to have been loaded via nk10/hacked bios so if u cold boot with retail game in drive ur led should stay proper colour. if its a backed up game it should change colour.

I guess if you haven't already included code to check if shdowc is running you could have the code look for something that establishes that a marker is in place on shadowc, such that it knows the installer has been run before.. (Basically your rename/rename trick would do that if you added the needed directory).. Or possibly have the installer delete some useless little xbl/msdash file from the shadowc image.. Then have the installer try to delete that file as a test that must pass in order for the rest of the batch process to continue.. If the file has already been deleted, then the process will crash safely..

Any word on the SC version? I have used waffletools before but it didn't backup the eeprom correctly on a 1.6 or a 1.1 xbox. Does the BWI correctly backup the eeprom? Thanks.

Blackwar uses eeprom magic to back up the eeprom.. This is a very reliable app.. The CBackup also functions without a hitch.. As for when SC is going to show up, its been a while hasn't it.. If you are in a rush, other installers will do the same thing for you.. You could always convert to Blackwar after the fact..

Y' know like on v1.0 - v1.6 and what about PAL - NTSC??
The installer is great because of the shadowc function, but i had to found out the MA version is still buggy.
I got like a screen with an empty square and an empty status bar, all in the typical xbox look; like what you see when you update the xbox except there was nuttin written

if it loaded ltools, then yea, it was. if you wish to attempt this (but to be completely honest with you, I would wait for a fixed version to come out), then you would need to:
completely remove the current exploit (delete the gamesave).
put the C: partition back to stock.
and then you are ready to rock and roll.
as a side-note, if you have any installed games/apps ect, you may need to move em around to get them to work with this exploit. this installer is ment to be used on a freash xbox.
If you have anything on F: before running this xbox, you need to back this stuff up, because when it is first run on a large HD, it formats the F: partition, so you will loose everything. the installer also warns of this.

Have a 120 GB HD with C:/ stock files and F drive containing Files
I Go to Stock HD Options so i dont have to back up the files on F and on either normal stock hd install or optional fonts i get an error 21 when it says its done. I can boot from cd but not load up hd
