Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer
Post by: BigSteel on January 31, 2005, 02:47:00 PM
I just noticed a torrent, way up in the Sky, for a Krayzie UXE installer.  Is this built by Krayzie from here?  I havn't had a chance to look at it yet, does anyone know anything about it?

krayzie is a manual man. likes the idea of manual softmods, which i now prefer. he wouldn't make an installer.

krayzie, sounds like you have an admirer (or wannable) tongue.gif

It sounded a little odd to me too.  I know Krayzie is a big fan of manual installs, and I would have thought that if he made an installer that there would have been a post about it here somewhere.

lol. in fact it was me who made it. Not becuz I like installers so much it's just that some people I know complainded that they could only find a french installer. Therefore I made a simple evox scripted dutch installer only for the dutch market from which I put some torrent links on a dutch xbox site. I got some very positive reactions from that so I decided to add english language support also.
Anyway it's real and it works. No big deal.

just for people getting curious. it installs UXE, nkpatcher10, evox and sets up a virtual C and eeprom. Also has an easy on/off switch.
I'm thinking bout making a package for it that installs a UEEE switch also.

you talkin bout the UEEE script? Have to still make something out of that. The installer uses multiple scripts.

alright....basically my main question would be do you know how to delete things with evox? is there even a command for that? i never found out how to and it's always taken a lot of sidestepping to get around that.

keep up the good work though...i'm sure when it's finalized it will be nothing short of stellar.

Yeah wel for more advanced scripting you probably better of with unleashx or mxm or something. I didn't/dont feel like spending time to investigate ways that I am not too familiar with so I decided to just use evox. It does what I want it to do. If I need more advanced stuff I'll look into it sometime maybe.

yeah...i learned unleashx for that reason...but i like scripting with evox a lot better. i just thought perhaps if there was a command to delete files you might know it....i doubt there even is, thank you though

well not that I know. I don't even like deleting that much. It's so unreversable. Renaming has the same effect but yeah a delete option wouldn't hurt either.

he said it sets up a virtual C drive....you don't need to patch the msdash if you make a virtual c and copy your c drive backup onto it

It will unmod the virtual C so the msdash is fully accesable after the mod without having to do anything

Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer
Post by: jreedy88 on February 10, 2005, 09:11:00 PM
I think what Krazie means when he says it unmods the virtual c is that first the shadowcmaker runs before any files on original c are changed, then after the shadow is made, the xbox is modded through placing/deleting/renaming the files on c.  Then when the xbox is rebooted, nkpatcher loads and the shadowc is run.  Just because the shadowc exists, it doesnt mean it is used.  It has to be loaded by nkpatcher.  He said the gamesave loads evox, so I would assume the xbox is running evox throughout the modding process and the shadowc is only loaded after the mod process is great.  By the way, great job krazie, I made the same thing myself, but i don't know how to script, didn't know it even existed, and I just do it all manually by using boxplorer from the memcard.  I chose to put avalaunch for the dash instead of evox though.

Post by: krayzie on February 10, 2005, 11:28:00 PM
The shadowC is and stays active as soon as it's made. It doesn't require a reboot.
What I meant with that it unmodded the Shadow C is that the shadowcmaker created a 1 to 1 copy of the existing C. Now since the existing C is modded there would be no way to acces the msdash. Therefore the installer unmods it in the last step so the msdash is functional again.

the pal Splinter Cell save will not work with ntsc Splinter Cells games. otherwise it would be rather pointless to make two different versions. You cannot ask for torrent links on this forum.

I'm not avaible outside these forums. Also people lookin for this installer might also wanna look into the blackwar thing since it looks a bit more advanced. Like I said a couple of times this is installer is very basic which I set up in a minimum amount of time and does not compete with advanced ones. Since blackwar's installer is now released that also uses nkpatcher 10 and sets up a virtual C  people people might rather use that.

Post by: krayzie on February 24, 2005, 02:03:00 PM
Okay....Never thought of doing this but the rage of recent installers made me decide to make me another upgrade. All these new flashy things might be cool but I felt like making a more n00b one since after all....that's what they are for.
So it's a simple basic installer. No flashy mumbo jumbo.
features:
-Now uses unleashx as install engine
-makes a C backup and puts it on hidden partition
-makes unmodded Virtual c
-makes shadow eeprom
-choice between nkpatcher 06 and 67
-choice between evox and unleashx
-easy gamesave on/off switcher without restoring full partitions
-full restore/uninstall option.

The dutch version is finished. I'll probable add English language support somewhere in the next couple of days.

just installed this installer and works beautifully, props to krayzie great work,
question is how does this virtual c work cause i installed uxe with virtual c and installed uxe skipping virtual c  both with the ueee switcher and both work just fine, but, with each install i revert back to M$ dash and used the one of the old MA exploits just to ftp and all file are still on C: like nkpatcher and the fonts and stuff, just thought that with the virtual c i wouldnt see this stuff in retail state on the c drive, so i was worried not for my box since i have a stock box for live but for a few peeps that want a softmod but want to play live yet dont have an exploitable game to use which is why im testing with the ueee switcher

i was just weary cause when i switch to retail state with/without ueee using MA which i have, i  used proably the first MA evox game save to gain ftp access all files are still shown on C: so im scared to test with my stock xbox because of a flgged gamer tag theory,(still takes like 25-40 seconds to log into live no matter what game i play) but wondering for future box's i use this installer with ueee switching because the peeps dont have any of the 3 possible games to get back into the xbox

I would not recomend to use the UEEE installer if you don't have acces to an exploitable game. The dashboard might be upgraded in the future and remove the EEE files.
Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer
Post by: deacon187 on February 26, 2005, 04:27:00 AM
but im not talking about the future. i have access to MA, if needed for the time being im asking about the current presence of the installer with ueee for other xboxes without acess from MA or SC
Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer

the intention of the eee installer is to switch without the game. Otherwise you could just use the gamesave switch.

Post by: krayzie on February 26, 2005, 03:07:00 PM
no that's not what it is for. in a retail state there is no virtual C. Virtual C is an nkpatcher option and nkpatcher is not active in a retail state

Krayzie, I am a big fan of the installer that you built and have used it several times.  I know you have tested the Blackwar installer.  What does it do that yours does not?
Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer
Post by: krayzie on February 27, 2005, 12:45:00 AM
The new version is done except for the 007 version since it's giving me problems. I haven't ever used the blackwars installer but I'm sure it has some more features then mine. Anyway my intention was not to make as many features as possible. I just wanted to make a simple basic installer without fancy features so n00bs will have a hard time messing it up.
Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer
Post by: krayzie on February 28, 2005, 10:56:00 AM
007 version is done. Had to make some adjustement since the 007 exploit aparantly doesn't wanna load pbl. Now it loads nkpatcher but that means the game must be coldbooted for the switch/remove functions to work. Also there now is a reboot after the virtual c maker app. if you have a choice you better use the MA or SC versions. If i find a way to load pbl out of 007 I'll make some more adjustments.

The only thing that caught me off guard is when it rebooted after the virtual C, and took me back to the game in the drive.  It would be nice if you had a disclaimer saying that after that installs and it reboots, it will load the game in the drive, and you will have to run the gamesave again to complete it.

Yeah the rebooting was something unexpected since it doesn't happen when I load PBL out of the gamesave but 007 doesn't seem to wanna load PBL. Therefore I had to quickly make something out of it. I will clarify it some way in a possible next version. I thought  just the reboot message would do.
QUOTE
Another suggestion is having a dialogue that helps people pick between nkpatcher.06 and nkpatcher.07........a lot of noobs aren't sure which to pick and aren't even sure of the differences.  I see that it explains this AFTER you make your suggestion (which is nice), but something BEFORE you make your choice might make it a bit easier.  Just my two cents :-)

Yeah your right about that. I'll also take that in consideration. Note that you could always go back after you see the explanation and pick the other one.
QUOTE
And finally, a question.  How do you go about accessing the 'full cbackup hidden on actualC'??

I've hidden the C backup on C cuz it shouldn't be touched by any noobs messing with the files. Anyway You can acces the real C by ftp out of a coldbooted gameexploit or by running pbl out of the apps folder.

glad you liked it

the EEE is a seperate install you have to insert in E:/apps,

in the menu's through evox there is a back up tab, that backs up your eeprom, i forgot where it was saved to though, but ftp that and your c drive to your pc for safe keeping,

if you found krayzie tools you should be able to find the EEE installer, it comes with a readme on how to use and install, its a great tool, thanks krayzie
Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer

each xbox has its own eeprom, it serves a few purposes, one it contains the HD lock/unlock codes, 2 if more than on ebox sign onto xbox live with the same eeprom they will be banned from live, so in a sence if the box isnt going to be played on live then 20 xbox's can have the same eeprom, but you need use software to flash eeproms to xboxs'

the eeprom backup is saved on the xbox but the reason you want to save it to your pc and a disc is what if your HD crashes how wil you retrieve it

the EEE switcher works great and enables you to use the M$ dash when needed, at least get and read the readme file, its not complicated to use

well the SCEEE for instance gives you acces to the online dashboard. That's something coldbooting isn't capable of. And yes the UEEE adds nothing special to the scene. I just added it into the installer cuz it was new (sort of) and people were asking about it. Many people fear coldbooting since M$ could start scanning the xboxdash.xbe file so the UEEE feels sort of confident since it will boot to a retail dash/state.

And yeah x-man right? thanks I read you pm and I'll remember the offer.

I found a little bug in the on/off switching progress. There was an 0 somewhere in the script instead of an o resulting in a rename failure after a few switches. That woud result in an error 13 when you remove the game. No real harm is done cuz you can select the remove function out of the gamesave and install it again and all would be fine. I will release a fixed version shortly.

The problem was with an extra feature..  If everything works the way you want it to now, and you don't expect to play around with anything just leave it at that..  If this guy knows zero about modding you don't really wanna give him access to the installer anyways..  Word of advice, hide any and all means of unlocking the hdd..  One thing inexperienced ppl feel confident doing is unlocking things..

just if its with the EEE switcher which he'll probably be using, in the prior posts about after switching a few times a rename failure occurs, i dont want this guy to freak out if something happens, and believe i havent left him any access to screw anything up,the ini is set up with all that stuff but #'d incase i need to access something, didnt even install boXplorer for a matter of fact,he's still using the stock drive anyway, i just made a bootdisc with all those things and told him not to use it just put it away incase i need to fix something later, if this isnt a problem in the 1.4 installer i have no worries as i know some things have been added in the newer ones

using the MA 1.4 install with the 1.0 UEEE switcher as he doesnt have any exploitable games to fix things himself, just dont want him to switch a few times and get an error and freak out thats all

Listen there is no reason to be so paranoid. You don't need chips or whatever to fix things as I said before. And it depends where you got it but I had to give up one place. But like I explained if you allready have the 2.6 version you could easily do the editing yourself.

did you use a different hard drive with the new eeprom, as your hd might of been linked to your old eeprom, thus the fact of the reban, if you used a different HD with the new eeprom then i would think M$ is scanning the hd, did you use the same gamertag you got banned with the first time

im getting a hold of a used xbox for 40 bucks in a few weeks that has a broken dvd rom, and it so happens i have an extra one so im gonna softmod it and used the gamertag i was banned with, this should prove any HD scanning for files, ill make a post in a few weeks after i get this box and let everyone know what happens

1: only thing you need to make sure of is that you set the dashboard language to english and you have a live enabled dashboard (4920 or higher)

2: i don't know if the SC NTSC save will work on the NTSC-J game but it's definately not risky to use it. It would be extremely hard to mess it up.

What about accidental deletion of e:\dashboard folder?

If I uderstood right, the NKpacther keeps you out of LIVE by blocking it, when booted normally without a game ( the mod "ON" ). And when coldbooted with game the xbox will boot retail - right? And you can trust going live safely because of that.

And now to the questions:
1. If some game needs to patch the dashboard to play in live  - what happens? Do I need to uninstall the softmod before I can update the dash?

2. Shouldn't I have the F drive after the moding? I don't have one!

Finally:  This is really easy way to mod your XBOX - just great!

I just tried to install Krayzie's UXE Installer (i loaded itools via Splinter Cell, then got FTP access to my XBox and then i deleted the itools folder and replaced them with the Splinter Cell savegames that come with Krayzie's UXE Installer...

I booted my XBox with Splinter Cell, went to the savegame and a menu came up (Evo ?) which gave me the choice to select the language i want to use...

I selected the dutch language and then i selected to softmod, but now it had been over an half hour, my screen went black (screensaver ?) and the LED of my XBox stays red...

Can somebody please help ? Thx in advance...

Ok.

Say I am in the modded state already.

when I ftp into c:
I am seeing the virtual C contents right?

If I rename any file in C, why after rebooting, the changes are still there?

I thought the virtual C is something that was fixed and would not be changed as it gets from the img file..

Therefore can I conclude that when virtual C is booted, any changes made in virtual C is made in the img file also?

You only have an F if your drive is larger then 8 Gb. If you have you need to format it. The new version comes with some format options.

Just a note for the people filling up my pm box with all kinds of questions. I mean no offence but my pm box is not meant for that. If you have general questions about modding an xbox and/or upgrading a hd please use the forums like anyone else. I am not some personal assistant. I would like to keep my pm box for only personal things that are only specificly meant for me cuz after all pm stands for personal message. General modding questions belong in the forums.

Everything is working great!  The only problem I am having is copying my eeprom.bin file in the e:\dashboard\backup folder to my hard drive via ftp.  Everything else copies over except for this file.  I suppose the file is locked and it will not allow this?  However, I thought this was a crucial part of the softmod, making sure this file is backed up in a safe place.  Any insight would be very grateful!

yeah it's in the gamesave folder also. The next release will not use the eeprom in the dashboard folder. I will store the virtual eeprom in the shadowc folder so there shouldn't be any transfer problems. Funny how the transfer failure not happens to everyone. Both the virtual C and eeprom transfer fine here.
Title: Krayzie Uxe Installer
Post by: QSnexus on April 11, 2005, 03:06:00 PM
The virtual c and eeprom file on E drive do not transfer via FTP for me as well, no biggie.  The one thing that I was discovering was that using the 007 version this pack it was not working fully in regards to the virtual c functionality.  I reinstalled the softmod about 4-5 times trying to figure out why I wasn't getting the virtual c to work and then I went on the forum and read one of Krazie's posts mentioning that he was having trouble getting the 007 version to work fully and if possible to use the other two games to do the softmod operation.  So I used Spliter Cell for the installation and now everything works perfectly.

That is a good thing that you are going to relocate the eeprom file away from the e:\dashboard folder because it makes replacing EvoX/UnleashX kind of a pain if you can't rename (or delete) that dashboard folder after the install to put on your own dashboard like XBMC.  The only way that I was able to get a new dashboard in place was to move all of XBMC's folders and contents to the existing dashboard folder.  The original dashboard folder (that is installed with Krazie softmod) could not be renamed (because of that locked eeprom file) so it made the task of installing a new dash a little harder.  I see that was just an oversight.   Thanks for the package.

"The only way that I was able to get a new dashboard in place was to move all of XBMC's folders and contents to the existing dashboard folder"

so my understanding is if i want to change my dash from unleashx say to xbmc, i delete the unleash files in the dashboard folder and just replace them with xbmc's?

EDIT: And I haven't been playing matchmaking, so no one could have reported me for cheating or anything. But I don't understand why I got a suspension and not a flat out ban.

Exactly.  So you would FTP XBMC's files and folders directly into the current e:\dashboard folder after deleting the few EvoX or UnleashX files in that dashboard folder.  You just won't be able to delete the eeprom file in there which is OK, that little issue will be cleared up in the next release.

What is considering the safest way to use Xbox Live! with the UXE patch installed?  I have a 1.6 xbox with it's original retail HD.  I have not yet got a Live account, so I don't wanna get banned as soon as I get it.

donvito....use Krayzie's EEE switcher. you can use UEEE IF you already have live OR use SCEEE so you have FULL access to your live tab. What the switcher basically does, is turn your box from a modded state to a retail state and vice versa by performing a couple of steps. This will prevent you from getting banned. You wont find EEE switcher at the usual places and please dont ask where...i went through a mission trying to find it but i finally got it. google for the sky...thats all i can say. Someone feel free to chime in and add on....

If you read some of the other posts about going on Live, it would seem that as long as you sign up for Live before installing the exploit you should be OK.  You must also coldboot (have disc in tray before powering on) the original game.  That way the exploit is never triggered.

but anyways, i already have it installed, but i dont have a live account

what if i use MA and use the gamesave (theres an option to turn off/on the softmod after already installing it)
what if i select the option to turn off the softmod

will i be able to make an account/and also access xbox live, without any problems?

Hello Everyone.

First off a Big Hand to krayzie and his Installer. I used it on this old used up piece of junk xbox that my buddy gave me. (dvd drive doesn't work - no hd, massive abuse to the case lol) Used one of my chips to setup a new Hd for it - ran the installer - works like a dream.

At any rate, I'm new to softmodding and was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to do the 2 hd setup no DVD using this installer? I had 2 extra seagate drives and would like to use the second to replace the toasted DVD Drive.

Thanks!

lots of q's today. I will try to answer them all

@abbadon:
That's certainly not normal. Make sure the xbox is in a retail state before installing the softmod.

the MA 2.8 version is finished. It's now only some final testing and adjusting of the readme. Then I will make some conversions for sc and 007 and test those too and then they are ready for release. You guys should have to wait till after the weekend though since I'm going on a trip a couple of days.

Hi,

I have Krayzie Splinter cell installer and I have an Origional Splinter cell game. I also have Action Replay Max that comes with the usb memory card adapter. I know I have to zip each of the folders into a UDATA zip and add them each to Action Replay Max. Does it matter which one I add first? When I start the game I see Linux in the profiles menu. I click A and that takes me to the load checkpoint screen. This screen is empty. I then hit A again. At this point I get Error 21 on my tv screen. Am I missing a step here?

Thanks for any Help you can offer.

There is no real guide for the installer. The purpose of using an installer is that you don't have to do anything "difficult" yourself.
As for getting the exploit to work you can follow any gamesave /splinter cell exploit guide. Learn about the ways to get saves to the xbox hd either via action replays, mem cards usb sticks or hotswaps.

If you copied the saves to the hd and you still get an error 21 it means your mem card is probably corruoting your save. Try an official M$ mem card.

I extracted that rar file then zipped the UDATA folder and when I drag it to AR software, it sais "This is not a valid XBOX save".
I used a save manager to ftp the zip to a usb key in a modded xbox, I needed to create udata1.zip and udata2.zip, first zip with only udata/21585554/... and the other with udata/5553000c/...

The way I did it:
- select udata folder, zip it and delete 5553000c folder from it, rename as udata1.zip
- select udata folder, zip it and delete 21585554 folder from it, rename as udata2.zip
- use the save manager software to transfer

maybe if you do the same will work with your memory card. My guess is that for SC this are 2 saves and you can't transfer 2 saves as one zip.

If you use 007 or MA yes, if you use SC you need to create 2 zips, one for each udata/xxxxxx folder.

Apologies if following answer doesn't help a bit, but I might have a solution anyway. (If not, just let me know, I'll read up and try to comeup with a solution OK?)

- I think the Xbox need sa hooked up DVD for startup.

- It doesn't check it it's a 'toast one' or not.

- Your Xbox will boot if your (toasted or not) DVD drive is hooked up.

- To check this, it (XBOX) doesn't check the IDE (the flat 1" cable)

- To check this,  only the power connector (the smaller one) is checked (by the xbox)

So  an XBox with a toasted DVD drive should still boot as long as the 'small cable' is hooked to 'something'.

To entirely disable the DVD check you indeed might have to change the BIOS. My educated guess though is, that hooking up 'Something' on the 'small cable' should be sufficient to boot your XBox.

smile.gif . So I went through the install process and everything is done. Now I want to start adding extras like XBMC and Copy games to myHD. I want to know how to get into folders on my computer so I can stream movies and play mp3s and jpegs. Is there a tutorial or directions on how to do all this stuff? I have XBMC and dvd2xbox downloaded I just need to know where to put them.

Thanks Again for the help.

P.s Kudos to Krayzie and everyone else involved in this project for there hard work in putting together this fine product. Congrats beerchug.gif

The manual for XBMC is here : http://manual.xboxmediacenter.com

DVD2Xbox goes into E:\apps

Warning : using streamed audio/video etc is not the most simple task to perform with your xbox.

My suggestion would be to read up on all general tutorials you can find, check the XBMC section, keep reading there also.

If you really need to knwo how to access folders, you deginately need to read up before asking.

This might sound harsh, but if you still have questions after reading every tutorial on the XS homepage, the newbie forum, the XBMC forum, and all post up to a month ago in above mentioned section, I'm sure many are more than willing to help you out.

Does Krayzie's installer allow the full usage of a 137+GB hard drive on a virgin 1.0 xbox?

I know the package has LBA48 and supports F: & G:  but ,

I read that the bios needs to be flashed/updated/changed on the earlier version xboxes in order to use any space over the first 137GB's.

I think u gotta update ur dashboard to the newest version with a live enabled game.  this same kind of thing happened to my friends xbox when i tried to mod it for him.  i fixed it when i used unreal championship to go to the xbox live tab then sign up for a new account (you dont have to sign up or be connected to the net); then it updated his dashboard.

Scupper, you can go into the cinfig3e file and edit the XML code so the on/off option  will still be there but will not be shown as an option in the dashboard menu  by changing the code from <List Text="Switch softmod on/off"  to<List Text="" . There is an uninstaller too, same solution.
But If he botches it up some other way and you do not have FTP access you will have to rebuild the drive in which case you better have your eeprom.bin and hddkey/info.
There are other things in the regular config file (contains info for your options menu within the dashboard) you might wanna remove as well. As long as you can ftp back in you can replace them. Always back everything up before you edit. And if you are not sure confident about it or have no idea about XML, forget everything I just said.

That means that one of the checks that the installer do is not passing the test. You can look at the code to know which rename is failing and check with ftp if the files/directory that the installer want to rename are in the hard disk or not. Or you can describe how far you are into the installation.

Well I opened krayzie installer and found that the first rename I can find is after "Your hd is first being scanned for the presence of the proper files. When you see an error screen it means your dashboard version isn't high enough and you need to upgrade to a live enabled versie (4920 or higher)", is this where you get the error? Check what version do you have and try to upgrade to a higher version.

Quick question about the virtual C to know if I understand it well! The C: on the XBOX that we're saying by FTP when shadowC is on is in fact the virtual C which is the .img on the E:\shadowc !? So the image file (.img) is done with the stock c: file and is loaded every time we boot !? Can it be changed if change are made to the virtual drive !? And finally, what does it permit to do in term of safety !? It avoids change or update on the C: by game or other apps !?

thanks :)

Wow first i was gonna say don't double post but you triple posted lol! smile.gif

Anyways Halo2, Mechassault 2, any xboxlive game updates your xbox to xboxlive. All you got to do (Make sure softmod is NOT installed!) is go to where it says Xbox LIVE in the game. (You dont need acount) Just press on it and say make acount. (Really you arent but this way it'll update your dash.) Also make sure you got internet connection lol smile.gif. Anyways it'll update your dash with an Xbox LIVe tab. (You dont need to make an actual acount)

Enjoy and hope this helps you out!  smile.gif

Hi everyone! Maybe a stupid question but would I be able to use xboxhdm to install a new hd after installing this, or would I have to do run xboxhdm before installing this package?

Thanks,

07

You have to format the new hardrive using xboxhdm then use this on the new drive.

I'm just curious as to why 007 has to go through the extra steps?  The older version of your installer didn't need the extra steps, neither do other installers.

Krayzie, if I understand your intaller correctly, for me to Format F or G, install dual boot and DvdX I need to run the exploit again after softmod and reboot.

The apps, games and emus folders are only created in drive E right? There is no folder creation code after format F or G.

The DVD autolaunch is set to NO so even if I install dvdX the DVDs will not autolaunch so when I install DVDX the installer report "The dashboard is allready preconfigured to start this app when a DVD-movie is inserted" this will not happen. Why you decided this instead installing by default and setting 'yes' to autolaunch DVDs?

Is possible to check if the F or G drives are already formated so the installer disable those features?

With dual boot 'ernie.xtf' is replaced to detect if the power or eject buttons are pressed and execute the corresponding action, so there's no way to use the virtual C/eeprom with the eject button? or we can put the other nkpatcher with different compilation options to execute other dash. What I want is to press power and run unleashX and press eject and run XBMC but both with virtual protections.

I like to look at the code to learn what it's doing and stuff, I found a minor little thing in the "evoxe.ini" file that gets installed when I select evoX as my dash, in the emu section, we have an AutoAddItem "g:\Apps\" and that must be "g:\emus\". This will only affect people that have a G drive. The "evoxd.ini" file doesn't have this error. This is with the SC-NTSC v2.8.

I gota say , Krayzie, that new installer (2.8)  kicks ass!

I normally do my softmods manually (I haven't done too many, just for friends and such) but thought that i'd give an auto-installer a go.

worked a charm.

Well done!

Alright well I searched around and didn't find any remedies.  I found one other post mentioning of the screen going black after loading krayzie's uxe installer and they mentioned to make sure everything from a previous mod was deleted.

Well in my case, my xbox is a virgin box with kernal 5838 and dash 5960 and I've never softmodded it before.

I'm using MechAssualt and I double checked the version code on the bottom of the disc and it says MS02301L which according to my searchs means that I have the original version.

After the screen goes blank I can turn it off and turn it back on and it boots up the normal dash just fine.

I tried 3 or so times with AR, completly erasing the memory card and trying again and still no luck.

I'm thinking it could be the AR card possibly, can anyone confirm this?

Other then that, anyone else got any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Quick question about the virtual C to know if I understand it well! The C: on the XBOX that we're saying by FTP when shadowC is on is in fact the virtual C which is the .img in E:\shadowc !? So the image file (.img) is done with the stock c: file and is loaded every time we boot !? Can it be changed if change are made to the virtual drive !? And finally, what does it permit to do in term of safety !? It avoids change or update on the C: by game or other apps !?

I knew that I couldn't have any left over files from an old mod in my C: drive so what I did was that I took an 80 gig hard drive I had lying around and used xboxhdm and started a new hard drive from scratch, formatted, then loaded in the latest dash, once done I locked the hard drive with my xboxs eeprom, then put it in my xbox. Xbox booted to original dash perfectly, I inserted the Mech assault and used Krayzies 2.8 and everything worked beautifully. The only question I have is after installing and then restarting the mod again and installing dvdx, formating my F-drive and clearing my cache I noticed that when I go to system settings/ storage there is an X, Y and Z drive with each 749.89 megs in each. Why are there almost 3 gigs taken away from me and is there any way to reallocate that space to F drive. Thank you everyone for your help. Peace!!! Just Curious on the menu it has "Switch softmod on/off" does this take the place of the EEE installer u made? And also on the menu it has "Remove Softmod" I presume that this removes the softmod and puts original dash on C correct?

I don't understand one thing. To format F and G I need to load the save again. But if I load the save again I don't think it loads .06 or .67 support, so if I format what will happen, will it format the partition in a way that when I run the box without game will load .06 or .67 and a single or the 2 drives will be accesible? or to format I need to start the box without game then insert the game and load the save? I didn't find any special instructions in the readme.

Thanks for awnsering my previous question krayzie.

I just have another question,

I have the splinter cell exploit already on a memory card that i used for softmodding with the audio exploit and i dont have access to another modded xbox so if i load up my old splinter cell save which takes me to a form of evox and then connect to the xbox as usual can i then delete the save from the HD and replace it with yours and then turn it off and re-load splinter cell with your save and installer ?

thanks (hope that makes sense)

Maybe you have to use other ftp client or (de)activate the PASSV 'feature'. Your ftp client should list at first connection as directories the drives C, D, E, X, Y, Z (F and G if any). Krayzie installer create apps, games and emus directories in E drive and let you install DVDX in E:\apps. To install DVD2Xbox you have to install it in E:\apps, F:\apps or G:\apps for Evox or UnleashX to see it at start up (you need to reboot to see the updated apps list).

The readme does mention that it can be done but doesn't say how.

Remove softmod:

After the installation you can undo the complete softmod. All installed files will be removed.

I assumed that it would be a menu option within evo-x or I would reload the game-save and it would see the install and give me an unistall option or maby there would be the option at some point.

I can't find an option in evox and when I try to re-run the install, I get an error message similar to deege's except my install process doesn't make it that far. I only get to chose a language then before I even get the screen with the 3 steps, I get the error.

I don't need to get back to retail or anything but I just want to clean up 2.7 so I can install 2.8

@acecase, there is a config3e.xml file that get renamed so when you launch the gamesave again you get that menu with unleashx (the default installer's dash), so for some reason your installation didn't get updated as it should or you copied again 2.7 gamesave over your installed one.

Run the gamesave, rename config.xml to config1e.xml then config3e.xml to config.xml then reboot with the game and run the gamesave again, you should see the menu with option to turn on/off softmod and remove the softmod. You need to have a clean C:\Cbackup in your real C.

just one question how do i use live without getting banned (haven't tried yet), do i have to configure something after that, other than that confusion this is the best installer for all softmodders alike. props to Krayzie

Total numbtie help needed.   I have been trying to softmod my 1.0 xbox and am struggling.   Previously I have tried using any installer which kept getting the error 21 message and last night tried using ltools but could not get the save files onto my action replay.

I have read this thread with interest and would be greatful if someone could look over my complete idiots guide and tell me where I'm going wrong.

I have an original copy of Splinter Cell
I have Action Replay
I have a copy of Krayzie 2.8

1.   I need to unrar Krayzie 2.8 and then zip as two separate files to be called   u???? and u????1 ( I did see it in this thread and have lost it again).   As I understand my action replay will not like me using numbers and so I need to copy each one separately onto the hd in the xbox both called  ?

PROBLEM:   The error 21 messages as I understand it are because my action replay cartridge is corrupting the saves.   Reading the thread it is suggested that I use an original xbox cartridge (which I have), however action replay informs me that an orginal cartridge will not work and indee when I plug it in it is not recognised and searces from drivers.

Presuming I get beyond this problem.  I will now have the two files on my hd.   However I need to update my ms dashboard using a game which has xbox live facilities.   I have a copy of Outrun 2 which has this so presumably will work.
As I understand it I need to go through the motions of creating an account.   There was mention of having to plug the xbox into my internet connection.   Again stupid question as I have never done this, is this just literally taking plugging my broadband modem into the back of the Xbox (told you I was stupid).

So after I manage to upgrade my dashboard I then load splinter cell and choose one of the saves , Which One?

After this as I understand it Krayzies' installer is so simple that even I will follow it.

I can help you with a few of your queries...

you have everything you need by the sounds of it.

The SC exploit, as you already know, consists of 2 folders one is called 21585554 and the other 5553000c.

these are the two parts of the gamesave and need to be first tranfered to a memcard.

I cant help you with that because i've never used AR but from what i've heard you need to  zip them and then  tranfer them by drag and drop? dunno

If you know someone with a modded xbox and they have ftp access to it, you could go down that path.

Once copied onto the memcard you will two game saves in the MSDash gavesave manager.
one with a linux logo and the other with a SC logo, copy both to your xbox hdd.

Load SC and run the gamesave.

There is no need to choose a save only one will apear.

As for the live dash thing i'm sure you can update it without internet access, you might need an active network connection though just plug in you modem and give it a go.

This is just a note to Krazie on a minor text issue in version 2.8.  When installing Krazie v2.8 SC NTSC the very last information screen that pops up mentions that the eeprom will be saved to your E:\Dashboard\backup\ folder when in reality it does not, I believe this info text was leftover from version 2.7.  After installing v2.8 SC NTSC the eeprom gets saved into the same folder that the virtualc file is saved in on the E: drive which is where it should be.  Just a minor quibble.  That's all, thanks.

Here is an easy fix for those that are having trouble with any UXE based softmod installer that tells you that your MS dashboard is not up to date.  This is for those people that do not have an Xbox Live! enabled game to use to update your MS dash or just as a last resort, this method is a lot faster and more reliable as well:

Alternatively, you can extract a clean MS Dash 5960 C: drive installation in zip form from Auto-Installer Deluxe v1.0 and higher. Extract the Auto-Installer Deluxe ISO and go to Files\Dash. You'll see a ms-c.zip file here, which contains the MS Dash 5960 complete C: drive. Now boot the Xbox with the softmod save game which will give you FTP capability.  Now FTP in and wipe out your C: drive so that no files or folders exist, then transfer the contents of the ms-c.zip to the C: drive via FTP.  Now you should be able to install the softmod.

At least with SC 2.8 it copies the udata\...\backup folder to d:\dashboard\backup (including eeprom.bin), this eeprom.bin is not used by the virtual stuff so you can ftp the file without problems, then also the eeprom.bin file is copied to e:\shadowc\ folder, this file is used as virtual eeprom and for most people when the virtual eeprom is used you can't ftp the file to your PC, that's why Krayzie 2.8 copies the file to e:\dashboard\backup also. So the text is correct, you should be able to copy that one without problems, even the eeprom.bin file is in 3 directories (udata\...\backup, e:\shadowc\ and e:\dashboard\backup).

My dashboard is the evox one now.

Also i have xbox media centre installed but when i asked the question what i meant was can i still have my music in my games ? and the reason i asked how to get it on the xbox was because obviously my xbox now boots to the evox dashboard not msdashboard so their is no music transfer menu as their is on the msdash.

Hope that made sense.

Scrap what ive just said above i completely missed the fact that you can still use the msdash with UXE exploit so obvcourse you can still stick audio on the xbox from their.

i found the reported error right in the posting before. i think i can`t just begin with the second step and delete the first menu-step (netherlands/english) out. now i have another problem:

i tried the installer on my chipped xbox (with chip turned off). boots up fine, but when i come to the install-process, it gives me an error code 112 while coping "c". any ideas why this is so? can`t it be installed on a chipped xbox?

EDIT: the weird thing about this is, that after this error i get the message, that everything is installed and i can turn my xbox off. after clicking "ok" the xbox turned off ITSELF. i should have the option to hold my ftp-session if there is really something wrong with the installprocess. so i whould like to say turn off for MYSELF. is that possible, krayzie? anyway, the installer is very nice. maybe i can`t use it with my chip so...

if you experience rename failures it might indicate the xbox was not stock before using the save. And you can edit the xml files just fine as long as you know what you are doing.

Hey guys, kind of a newbie quest here. OK i've followed all the steps., got the splinter cell ntsc 2 savegames, copied them to my memcard using action replay program, copied them to my xbox hd, start splinter cell, select start game, select the "LINUX" profile,  then a screen comes up with to menu items, "CHECK POINTS" and "LEVELS". If i press A on CHECK LEVELS the screen goes black and just hangs there forever, if I select LEVELS the screen just freezes but I can still hear the music. Can anybody tell me if I am doing something wrong here.  I think i've followed all the steps properly.

quick question, i just did the MA version of your latest intaller Krayzie (really amazing job, by the way). so i've got everything set to default, using evox (which boots up fine), haven't changed anything yet. i got ftp working and ftp'ed xbmc into e:/apps/. here's my problem, xbmc shows up on the dash under applications, but when i select it, it ways "loading" and then the screen goes black, like it won't load or something. i was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong. could it be a compatability issue with the UXE installer. i've been hunting around asking questions in the XBMC forum but they don't know either.

if it helps, every file is still as i downloaded it, even xbmc( everything is the latest build, v2.8 of Krayzie's installer), thanks in advance for anyhelp, and all the help i've gotten. this is my first modded box and its got me excited

For some reason some games wont work with Snes9x with Krayzies Uxe installer 2.8, or Abdoeurs Uxe on virgin xboxes. However i put Krayzies Uxe auto installer on my xbox which has an expanded hdd (40gb) and the same exact snes games work FINE. So i think the problem is the original MS Hard drive, you need an expanded drive for some snes games to work. Thats the only thing i can think of.

Great Work Krayzie !

I really like the features on Krayzie's SC NTSC v2.8 exploit.

I never had to softmod and xbox before, mine has the matrix modchip, and I flashed
the TSOPs on 3 more v1.0 boxes for my brothers using my modchip.

But now I need to softmod a v1.6b xbox for a friend and I want do it manually using the HD Hotswap Trick, I found this outdated guide (http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/font-unmodded-hotswap.php) which is exactly what I need, since I don't have a memory card or the SC MA 007 Games. I know how to hotswap HDs, FTP files, etc.  But this guide I found is for an old exploit, I doesn't tell which files I need to tranfer for the new expliots.

Please Help me. My questions are:

1. I have the UXE exploit. Which files should I transfer and where should I put them ?

2. Can I Manually Install Krayzie's SC NTSC v2.8 exploit ? Love The Features !!

Please Excuse My English. Thanx In Advance.

You need to put your emulators in a folder called "emus" then they will appear in the evox menu/emulators.

If your using AR then I think that you drag and drop the zips to the AR screen, but I have never done this, i've only read other posts.

if your using a modded box to get the saves on to the memcard then unzip the two files and ftp them over to the modded box to e:\udata\, then transfer to the memcard via the msdash.

This may be a super dumb ass question but I gotta ask cause I don't wanna screw anything up.

I have Krayzies 2.8 already installed with evox.  I want to change dashboards, I've already experimented with some in the apps folder.

Can I just delete everything the dashboard folder and replace it with another dashboard in the dashboard folder as long as the XBE is named default.xbe?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I am using a mem card. I will transfer the files to modded xbox then save to the mem card for use on unmodded box.

So I presume you mean I unzip all contents of both files into one udata folder (why one folder if there is two saves. or doesn't it matter??) on my computer, then ftp that one folder into the e:/ drive of my modded box. Next copy the e:/udata folder onto my mem using modded box and use on the unmodded as a save??

What i want to know is how would you go about replacing or upgrading the bios.  His xbox have a samsung drive which doesn't seem to like playing cd-r's or burn audio cd's. I basically tried every brand of cd-rs. I, myself also have a samsung drive on my box and it practically plays everything. So could it be the drive itself or do i need to upgrade/replace the bios with a different one? Thanks in advance :)

You need to copy each folder 2xxxxxxx, 5xxxxxxx (don't remember the names i'm at work) to the udata folder i.e. e:\udata\2xxxxxx and e:\udata\5xxxxxx

them from the the 'msdash' on the modded box, copy both saves to the memcard, it requires two copy operations.

The fact that the drive dosn't read cd-r's had nothing to do with the bios.  Krayzies installer uses NKPatcher (which uses the M$ bios), so you never need to upgrade.  If the drive is not reading cd-r's it is because of the drive.  It may be getting old (weaker laser), or it may have a dirty lens (try cleaning it).

cyberkidd007, can you run retail games in your xbox? If so maybe you can run a recent Live enabled game and maybe in the upgrade stage will replace/restore/fix/add the files missing from your xbox and then you will be able to boot your box again to the original dash, transfer the gamesave and try it again.

the led turns orange when you have dualboot installed. It does nothing to the fan. I'll might make some led/fan options in the next UXE (or possible ndure) installer.

i have the latest (2.8?) version of this installed on my 1.6 box with 007 AUF.  Whenever the mod is turned on, the box cannot communicate with live, even when i do a coldboot into a retail game.  I turn the mod off, and then LIVE works.  It seems when the mod is on the IP changes to x.x.x.200, no matter what i have it set to in evox, mediacenter, and the xbox dash.  What am i doing wrong?  And is there any sort of precaution that prevents live from working accidently when booting in the softmod state?

thanks so much, cheers

Just finished up with this softmod the other day, was pretty easy to use and seems to work great so far (boots and plays originals, and boots and plays a copy I made to test it). FTP setup was a cinch, and wiring in a USB connection into the break away cable was pretty straight forward aswell. Thanks alot for making this installer Krayzie. Two thumbs up from the squirrel.

Next thing on my 'to do' list  is going to be replacing the harddrive with a 120Gb Maxtor.

Quick question here for anyone knowledgable, I'm using UnleashX dashboard right now, and in the system settings, it shows the hdd info with some hexidecimal numbers and a long string of numbers (probably 30-40 digits & numbers). Are these the lock/unlock info I'll need when I build the new harddrive in the computer?

And I've read a half dozens tut's here and on other forums, is there one good definitive tutorial out there for upgrading the harddrive without hotswapping?

I purchased this controller to usb cable (I purchased it for about $5 shipped on ebay):

http://cgi.ebay.com/...8195335077&rd=1

Downloaded and installed the Action Replay XBox PC Software v1.31 - UPDATED: 07/30/2004 at their site:

http://us.codejunkies.com/home_downloads.a...=$&r=0&l=1

Purchased a used Official Xbox Memory Unit (I purchased for about $8 shipped from someone off of another forum), I believe Madcatz works great too.

When plugging in controller to usb cable (with attached xbox controller plus memory card), it will ask to look for the drivers, point it towards the newly installed action replay folder where the drivers are located, then your system can detect it.  I'm using WinXP.

Make sure the gamesave is still zipped.  Start up the software, drag and drop the zip gamesave to the xbox memory card section and it should upload to the memory card, it should take about a minute or little less.

Voila!  You now have it on your memory card.

Now just transfer it to your xbox hard drive and do the exploit via preferred xbox game.

Note:  I did the 007 one, so it was only one file.

About Xlive:

I had to disable the mod to create an xlive account (using 2 month free subscription with my Halo2), then activated the mod again.  Proceeded to cold boot Halo2 to see if it will work without having to disable the mod.  It worked perfectly and I was able to log on without any problems.  After done testing/playing, ejected the disc and the evox screen popped back up.

Now all I want is to make XBMC my default dashboard (currently in applications of evox), ...still reading up on this.  Also reading up on how to install emulators too.

Overall very impressed with Krayzie's 2.8 installer, when I first saw it out with Xlive capabilities, I purchased my first Xbox.  Also my first time doing the softmod and it was a 100% success.  Thanks very much to Krayzie for making this so easy.

EDIT:  Also wanted to add that I immediately ftp'd the backup eeprom to my pc after completing the mod, before installing xbmc, new skins, and testing burned games.

anyone replace their dash with AVA, i thought i read some peeps had some trouble doing this B4, is it as simple as renameing AVAdash.xbe to what ever UX is named and it will boot, also is it better since ava and ux both use xml config files to swap ava for ux rather than install evox and swap ava with that

Hi all, when I try to copy the Krayzie MA installer image to my hard drive from my USB key drive, I can see the save but the dash won't let me copy it.  It just says "Corrupted save".  Any ideas why this would be?  Any ideas where I could get a 128 Mb image file to use instead?

- I'm using the Linux 2.6.12 fatx drivers to put the files onto the key from my main box.
- I know the key drive is supported because I used it to copy UDE2 unto my old box before it kicked the bucket.

Thanks,

Ok.  This was a STRANGE problem.  It turned out it was the video output that was getting messed up and hence the blue screen on my TV.  When I switched video cables it worked fine.  Weird.

So, when I was clicking random buttons when I had no video, I ended up installing Krayzies in DUTCH!  Now my UnleashX is all in Dutch.  Any way to uninstall?  Thanks.

I figured that that point I would just remove the 2.8 exploit and start over. Well this is where things got interesting. I removed the patch but on the next reboot I got an error code of 13. After looking up on another great tutorial by OCnewB I found out what that meant.

I was still able to ftp in to my box using a cold boot with the SC disk. (Thank the Xbox Gods). Once I did this I found that my C: was wiped. Go Figure! Not being one to panic I started banging my head on the wall. Then I remembered that I had a backup of the c: from the origional hd.  laugh.gif

While I am transfering the C: backup via flashfxp my nortons internet security is going nuts with trojan alerts. Not just one type but several different flavors. Now I am using a direct connect between the computer and the box so unknown where these worm/trojan alerts are coming from. I must have had around 10 or so come through while transfering the files from my pc to xbox.

After finishing the transfer I reboot the xbox and the M$ dashboard loads fine. I load up SC and am able to finish the softmod sucessfully. To my knowledge everything is working fine with the xbox. I did a virus scan on everyfile both on my pc and xbox and did not turn up a bug/worm/backdoor etc.

If there is still anyone reading after my long winded post  sleeping.gif I would appreciate some enlightenment if there is any to be had.

Hi all, I've seen this question tossed around a bit, but I need a little clarification. I have Krayzie's2.7 with evoX. I recently bought an x2vga+. My m$dash is not keeping the settings changes I make for high-def. I had my friend bring his box over (2.7 with UnleashX) and I was able to get the high-def going. I found a thread about why these settings don't take, but I think my best bet would just be to replace evoX with Unleash. I see that I should replace the files in E:/dashboard. That would mean evox.ini, default.xbe and the skins folder need to go. Question: For simplicity, can I have that friend bring his box back over and ftp his dashboard folder to my pc, then to my box? Is it really that easy?

The only difference between my box and my friend's box is he selected unleashx upon installation of the softmod, whereas I changed to unleash from evoX. Otherwise our boxes are the same. Why would his settings keep and mine won't? Edit: It may be irrelevant, but I have a 250gig seagate loaded up with apps while he still has a stock hdd. I used xboxhdm to build my hdd from scratch.

I'm looking at the second option because I found no eeprom.bin in the shadowc directory, just the 500Mb image. Correct me if I'm wrong: to perform this task, I should delete everything in E: except TDATA and UDATA folders. I should leave C: alone and its ok to leave F: and G: full of stuff. Then apply the video settings in a semi-retail state, verify they stay, then reapply the softmod.

well that's probably becuz you deleted the save once and people should not do that. Then just delete everything on E besides tdata and udata and restore the C drive to stock. And make sure to put on a new save before you mod it again. And while your at it you could just as well use the Ndure save as it has some improvements over the uxe installer.

krayzie, you know the way your installers have a feature to restore the dash to stock using slayers disk, would it be possible for you to put on a feature whereby we can restore our HDDs to a backup we have on a disk.  For instance if we have 2 files on a disc called C and E then the app will replace C and E partitions on the HDD with those on the disc.  This would allow a quick way to return our drives to how we want if anything goes wrong, and also allow us to have a bit of a roll back feature, in case we did something we didnt like, we could just roll back.   Only an idea from a n00b.  You do make the best installers.

You might want to gran the Ndure installer instead, its just as simple and up-to-date. 1) Yes the dash must be updated, just hook your box up to a broadband connection and pick xbox live with a real game in. Let it update the system then restart. 2) Since you have a chipped box I think you can do this without an AR, but you still have to have a regular memory card to get the files from the chipped box to the retail box. That is, unless you can boot a slayer's disc in the retail box and ftp the files from the chipped box directly. With Krayzie's UXE 2.7 I had to doctor the zip files up according to a tutorial, but the Ndure files come prepared. 3) yes, no, yes yes yes

use a filebrowser to go to your exploited Savegame. It's somewhere in UDATA (in the case of SC it's in 21585554, I don't know where it's located with MA or AUF. rename two files like posted below:

config.xml -> config1.xml
config3e.xml -> config.xml

NOTE: this is the way it's done with 2.8 of krayzie's UXE installer. I am not sure if this will work with the 2.7 version, but I guess it does.

i have used this installler about four times now and each time it worked fine but i recently but another xbox  and decided to put a 400gig hdd in it so i tried to use the nkpatcher 67 thing but it didnt work right drive G just shows zero. so i tried again when i finally seen the format options in extras. but it didn't work either. i dont usuaslly post much just read but i got a little sick of reading today so i hope that this hasnt been covered before.  i wondering if i need to format it while i was building the hard drive but xboxhdm didn't offer an option for G drive. so i have been running my box on the Nkpatcher 6 option and it is terrible slow. one last question would the new installer the ndure work better. any help would be appreciated.

I installed v.2.7 of the UXE installer, installed EvoX and wanted to run trainers. The problem is though, even though I edited the INI file to do trainers, I turn them on, and they do nothing. Is there anyway I can get this to work?

i currently have a moded box(x2.3b lite + Non-soilder) with a Evox..

Should I restore my xobx prior to running krayzie's instaler?

Reason for me doing this is that i saw my brother in laws box moded with UnleashedX and i like what i saw. Plus with the non soilder mods that chip is always moving and i am constantly in there..

thanks for the help..

Pretty much the way to go right?

Ok I have been reading through this thread but it's wayy too long and i cannot find my answer. I read in the thread that you can turn the mod on/off without using the game.

How is it done...what do I need to do? Is it even possible? Please can someone break it down as simple as possible. Thanks....

Krayzie, your installer roxxors my soxxors. This is a bit odd, but here's what happened...

Ok, yesterday, I Krayzie's SC v2.8 installer to softmod my box. Works great. I install the Surreal 64 emulator in E:/emus/Surreal 64. I put my roms in E:/emus/roms. I point the Surreal.ini file at E:/emus/roms. It works.

Then, I was going to install my SNES & NES emulators, and I figured, "Hey, I'll put each systems' roms in a directory inside the emulator folder, cuz I like to keep everything tidy." So, I move the roms folder to E:/emus/Surreal 64/roms, and I change the Surreal.ini file to point there.

I load the emulator, the roms show up, but I try to run one and it says "Loading" then goes back to emulator screen instead of loading rom.

I proceed to try everything I can think of as far as moving roms and reconfiguring Surreal.ini goes... nothing works.

So, I FTP, clear E:/emus, I load up the SC installer again, unistall softmod, re-install softmod, and it's EVEN WORSE... roms don't even show up in emulator menu now.

I tried reconfiguring Surreal.ini many different ways (along with moving the roms of course). Didn't work.

BUT HERE'S THE THING... I softmod my friend's box, and it works just fine. So, I FTP the EXACT SAME FOLDER to my box, and it still doesn't work...

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS HOW I CAN FIX THIS?? I'M JUST ABOUT ON FIRE I'M SO PISSED OFF!!

Ahhh... well. Anyway, thanks for anyone's help.

EDIT:Ok... I'm sorry... I just fixed it by checking the Surreal 64 official help thread... Please, please don't eat me...

(I've been offline since yesterday cuz I had to piddle with my PC, so I forgot to check there 'till just now).

Krayzie, YOU ROCK.

1. it has to be the only save. any other sc save present locks up the gamesave exploit

2. you can choose between evox or unleashx

3. if you pick unleash x you can set the led to anything you like.

the dash version is irrelevant to the actual gamesave exploit. it is only relevant to the installation of the xbe exploit. it sounds like his exploit does not boot at all. the lack of showing an error number is an indication  of having a very early kernel (so also irrelevant to the dash version)

CODE
Format partitions by sending 2 raw FTP commands to the xbox for each partition to format. The commands are as follows:

a. Formatpath \Device\Harddisk0\PartitionX

Where PartitionX is either 1(E), 2(C), 3(X), 4(Y), 5(Z), 6(F), 7(G)

This will give you a key, something like:
200 FormatKey key for '\Device\Harddisk0\PartitionX'. Where key will be a 4 byte value in hex (8 characters)

b. FormatDrive key

Where key is the key returned from command a.

I like the Krayzie Uxe Installer, but I still have a question.
When I install the dualboot option it creates, as it suppose to, the tray open folder int he dashboard folder on E:\ drive. However when i put a dash like unleash or XBMC in the open tray folder it doesn't seem to boot.
It boots up with the error 21 message. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?
Do I need a modchip for this function?

I am not 100% certain, but make sure the xbe file is renamed to default.xbe and not unleash.xbe or whatever dash you happen to be using.  Worth a try as it won't wreck anything.

In the UXE installer the alt dash still needed to be signed habibi. Better upgrade to the Ndure installer

Helll Krayzie,

I got a question here, I am trying to softmod a xbox using ndure v.1 (krayzie), I have successfully got it on the xbox, but having trouble installing it. After i choose .06 or .067 it tries to copy the files but stops and shows a error, and then says that last thing it did was try to rename a file. So i am wondering if my dashboard is wrong or something else.

Merry Christmas

Too late to edit, but i was thinking boot the backed up game from the HD but would that will allow me to uninstall it.  I can get to the uninstall option doing it this way, but im hesitant to click uninstall thinking it might not finish all the way.

yes that would work.
also you could use a hd browser and load the xbe out of the save manually

Thanks, but that brings me to my next questions, without the game I cant reload the exploit in order to ftp in and delete everything.  With only the hd browser how safe is the HD with only that on it for live.

I finished modding two xboxes for friend. One was v1.5 with executer 2.3B+ (Unreliable) and the other was a v1.6 with Xecuter 2.6 CE( which had to be pressed down to boot Evox, loose connections-I had checked and filled the solder many times but could never get it right).

I Softmodded them by:

1: booting slayers with the modchip and restoring the HD to retail.
2: then booting with modchip and then FTPing the installers.
3: then booting with modchip OFF and startingsplinter cell...and following the screens.

Everything went beautiful, I never imagined softmodding would be that easy. Thank you very much Mr. Krayzie for making the installer. Now all my troubles with modchip are gone. Before this I had TSOPed two xboxes after they had problems with Xecuter 2.3B+, it was very complex proceduer.

Now I have to softmod two more v1.6B boxes. Since they are retail I cannot FTP. So I might have to get a memory Unit.

I prefer the Splinter Cell Installer as I have that game.

Since there are two parts, is it possible to put them both on 1 memory unit (I plan to buy one bigger than 8MB)? I would like to exclusively keep the memory unit and the splinter cell game for future modding needs.

I also read this thread and many others regarding softmodding till my head spun. I don't see anywhere (or missed) mentioning what not to do with a softmodded xbox.

My concerns are:

If I use slayers and format then there is danger of wiping all the softmods in there. I need to know which drives I should not format. If I restore the box to retail using slayers, will the splintercell installer still be in there??

Thank you very much for the installer. Now I feel veery confident with softmodding.

The UXE installer is kinda obsolete. You should check out the Ndure installer since it's a bit safer and has more feature. (also beware a new version coming soon)

C and E are partitions that will most likely mess up the softmod when formatted. And yes with a slayers restore all data is lost so also your gamesaves

the saves should fit both on a 8 MB mem card

Quick knob questions:  I have this downloaded for 007, and I have read the "Read me" file several times... One thing about it I can not understand is how to "copy the save to the Xbox HD" Do I need FTP for this? I am planning to install the whole FTP process in about 1 week, after softmodding my Xbox with unleashedx. I read something about being able to copy the save to an Xbox memory unit, then copying those files to the Xbox harddrive, can anyone please explain how I would go about doing this?  Lastly, which files do I copy to the Xbox HD specifically, as in which files on the download do I need to copy to the Xbox HD and where exactly do I put them?

Thanks for answering these incredibly knobbish Q's

Modding is quite difficult to learn... as I have just found out... wink.gif

rabidpencil: if you can get the gamesave onto a memory card then you do not need to hotswap.  Use Krayzies NDURE gamesave.  To get a game onto a memory card you will either need access to an already modded xbox or an Action Replay.
