Wait I have LIVE on a softmodded xbox, but It has to do with that damn HD Switch I put in I guess..  Oh Well.

If you have an exploitable game, then going on LIVE isnt a big deal with a good installer/uninstaller. Or just manually FTPing in the change works as well.

You just cant go on LIVE in a modded state.

And please try to maintain into one thread, since all the questions you asked were related to the same basic things....

Yes, almost a week ago I setup a brand new box with UXE and xbox live. i have been cold-booting to retail launch the disks to test the 'xboxdash.xbe scan theory' for sure. I haven't been banned as of yet so the hdd scans are completely out of the picture. The rest of the problems rely on the Marriage Theory or the user being an idiot.

Maybe the xboxdash.xbe scans were only temporarily cuz M$ was just pissed of that some people were playing backups on live. Maybe when  it costed them too much xbox live users they stopped the scans. I wonder what else they did to ban the backup on live trick if they didn't scan the xboxdash.xbe.

i personally believe that the only thing that caused bannings were the marriage theory. virtually everyone who was banned had upgraded hard drives (i think) the rest was just people leaving chips on or trying to go into live in some other form of modded state.

if that is actually true.....

......then it is indeed possible to play an exploited xbox on live providing that retails are cold booted.

I've developed a few theories on how the 'ol 'live backup' trick with xboxdash.xbe was detected and closed. Many of these ideas could lead to a fix, but this isn't something that would be welcomed in the xbox scene. Which is why I never shared info originally. No matter how many checks they decided to add on their service, there will always be ways around them or to prevent them. AFAIK, it seems MS didn't realize that this flaw wasn't the only one in existance at the time they upgraded their 'security'.

yeah not that I want the scene to mess up cuz of people abusing live. I just was curious if the backup bannings would affect anything on a normal softmodded xbox setup. The xboxdash.xbe scans were the only relationship between them. Since people nowadays seem to play live fine by coldbooting they must check something not related to the mod itself.
