Title: Uxe Install Gone Sour... Help Please.
Post by: xman954 on January 15, 2005, 09:52:00 PM
do NOT unplug your xbox untill it is fixed......

try reformating C:

Format partitions by sending 2 raw FTP commands to the xbox for each partition to format. The commands are as follows:

a. Formatpath \Device\Harddisk0\PartitionX

Where PartitionX is either 1(E), 2©, 3(X), 4(Y), 5(Z), 6(F), 7(G)

This will give you a key, something like:
200 FormatKey key for '\Device\Harddisk0\PartitionX'. Where key will be a 4 byte value in hex (8 characters)

b. FormatDrive key

Where key is the key returned from command a.

Use the xbox-linux gamessave exploit again and while in evox go to system utils->backup to extract the eeprom and hd unlock key (take this down and ftp the backup to your pc)

Then download xboxhdm (not illegal, download it from the software section of xbox-scene)

follow the instructions for using xboxhdm so you can burn a CD to unlock the xbox HD by typing in the HD unlock key (you didnt use ltools to get the key so you cannot use the automatic method to unlock it) and restore the contents of your C partition with the backup of C you took initially.

so deleting via ftp doesnt work...does it work via telnet? after all, you telnet in as root, so permission errors should not arise...

well i hope you've followed devz3ro's directions and backed up your eeprom...because if worse came to absolut worse and you couldn't fix it and it got screwed up royally....with the eeprom.bin and a backup of the original c drive, you can just reformat it with xboxhdm and you're back where you started before you hacked it (which in many cases is a lot better than where you are now after you've hacked it....) just thought that i'd let you know that so you don't worry too much....

Send me a message on AIM or something and I'll see if I can help you out (maybe check your xbox remotely over FTP).

A few comments :

1. use the game save to boot linux
2. telnet into it
3. do a "ls /mnt/C"
4. do a "mount"

show me the result, then I can suggest further steps. REMEMBER, do a backup of the eeprom first(through whatever tools, EVOX, linux whatever), and don't let the machine lose power until you fix C.

As long as you can have linux boot, I can fix it.

ok guys... new problem... everything is as i said before except I have now installed a new xenium chip with the solderless adapter... oh btw... the solderless adapter seems to be kinda shakey and it also seems to like to be grounded... not too sure what that has to do with it tho... anyway guys... i need help ... so here it goes

we installed the chip... it booted up once to the Xenium OS splash screen...
the chip has been giving me some issues... these are the possible events that occur when powering up the xbox...

1) xenium chip goes red orange then green and the xenium os splash screen comes up and all is well with the chip side of the deal

2) xenium chip goes red and then shuts off and then powers up on its own and goes red then shuts off...i believe u guys call that fragging... apparently grounding the chip seems to help but not all the time... but that maybe because we're all charged up from absorbing previous charges... anyway... moving on.

3) xenium chip goes red and stays red and sits there with nothing happening... it seems that it happens because the D0 pin isnt in place on the solderless adapter ... touching it and fiddling it carefully seems to do the trick... although its kind of a pain.

now assuming i can get it to bood... and everything is fine with the xenium chip... i needed to install a hacked bios... i attempted to use x2 4983.06 and 4983.67... not sure what the difference is but that seemed to work out ok... after a ton of work... i couldnt get the dvd drive to read any of my cdr's or cdrw's... so instead i used my friend's usb stick... anyway... it now has the 4983.06 added to the list of launch programs...

so... assuming that the dvd drive actually works... i decided to put the slayers 2.6 cdr/cdrw i made both just to try... into the dvd drive... and booted it from the launch menu from the new bios that i had just installed (x2 4983.06)...

nothing happened and all that showed was my earlier problem with the dashboard that gave me the error #16...

So guys... i'm stuck and frankly its not looking good... theres many issues with my xbox that i'd like to get resolved but i'm not having very good luck... so... any help is appreciated...

for anybody that doesnt know my previous situation then should read the first post of this thread... however... i'll summarize... i attempted to softmod it with the mechinstaller and that went haywire so i decided to get a real mod to format the c drive and add a new dashboard... oh btw... ftp on the xenium chip doesnt seem to work as well... i keep getting a chdir not possible or something.

sorry for being so long... i'm just losing my patience a little and am getting a little nervous that i may have messed up for good.

here's other info about my xbox
totally stock version 1.1
xenium ice chip... its white and i have the black solderless adaptor

ok thanks guys... hope i here from u guys soon... btw... if possible... can someone gimmie their aim sn so i can maybe try to fix it realtime as well...

Admin...sorry if this is in the wrong post since its transformed from a softmod to a hardmod... thx
