I had the same problem. FROZEN
Most BIOS do have the HD=NONE settings, depending on the type of BIOS it is.
Try + or - or F5 or F6 or Page UP or Page Down buttons to change the value.

UPDATE: has been locked. turns out it was something in the PC's bios. he took the hd to a friend's house and locked it there with no problems.
thanks for all the help fellas.
Yes diff... thx goes around...Goose knows his stuff too, excellent modder...helps me greatly through the phone with no visuals...A+++++
Same problem with Frozen Drive in a Gateway 310 Series, even changing BIOS settigns, but locked succesfully in my other real computer with Phoenix BIOS, but, it was with Autodetection, maybe is about the Auto mode allowing to modify values in this board.
I'm thinking on vmware, getting my RelaXserver down to lock hard drives, does not really like to me, so better use the vm, it has a phoenix BIOS too...
sithclone3 - Try not connecting your IDE cable until the 1st menu screen appears on XBOXHDM. That's the only way I can get my E-Machine to work with this same problem.
If your hd is frozen...
Changing hd and cd from pri ma with pri sla won't work!
Try to turn out your Primary master in your IDE configuration in your bios.
This works fine!
This is definitely motherboard related error. Tried on 3 different computers and it only worked with one. Just use someone else`s computer if the bios setting is not working.
