That caused all my stuff to be deleted, so when I was trying to fix the ms dash so it could be accessed at evox, i changed the names of the xbe for some reason...and now it boots up to a error 21
So i said np, ill hotswap again, but when it gets to the screen wher eu typ ein "UDE" it says /dev/hda not found, please restart ur computer and connect your IDE to ur Xbox HD.
I've got no clue why it says that, it's like it doesn't even think anything is there, or linux has been deleted from my drive for changing the xboxdash.xbe around in C: not sure how that caused it....
But any help would be appreciated, thanks.

or... just unplug DVD drive and boot and then you will get error screen at which the HD is unlocked... right?.

correct, on most xboxs.
The hd does relock if not done promptly.

also, im prolly gonna wait until tommarow to rent mechassault, i have the gamesaves that work, but i also have splintercell but my gamesaves wotn even show up...but even if i have them they will do no good since i cant get into the dash
also...that unplugging the DVD drive? How do u do that? Just unplug the DVD drive when it boots up, during xbox screen, or before u boot? And what does that do?
man I really messed up my crap, its all because of that damn gentoox home i tried to install, that stardust iso messed up my xbox where it onyl booted to the ms dash for some reason

LOL.
1) You do know you can't just stick the xbox game in the DVD Burner drive and hit copy, right?
2) You do know that even if you do make the backup correctly that your box has to be modded to run it... so even if this happened again having a backup of MA wouldn't do you ANY good at all because the xbox wouldn't boot it.

anyways, it looks like i fucked up my xbox again thanks to my ignorance
while i was installing all my other dashboards, unleashx and avalaunch again, i was making sure the MS dashboard links worked
well when i went into ulx and hit the link, it worked, then i did the L+R+BACK+START combo to go back to evox, and...it didnt work
so i rebooted, and it went back to the ms dash, so i did the MA hack again, and none of the things in MXM worked, it all had a script error, i got evox to work somehow but i couldnt boot up a CD, and being the dipshit i was, i accidently hit unlock hd, and confirmed it, and now i boot up to a error 5 everytime and it wont load a game
i have my EEprom backed up on my comp, i tried using xboxhdm to lock my hd again, and it says it cant detect my hd...
any suggestions?

ok.. sounds like you could use a XboxHDM tut maybe. Try going through that. Your only option is to either get XboxHDM working OR get a friend with a chip.

so i did the xboxhdm swap or whatever, and it recognized the drive! I went in to boxplorer btu I was so excited that i said fuck it, lets just try to reinstall UDE
I did the UDE installation, everything went normal until the end, where it couldnt patch the M$ dash cause it couldnt find the fonts...
So wahts going on there, is my m$ dash and fonts messed up?
I tried to do it again but it wouldnt detect the hd, and i dont know what i did differently, i swear i tried it another good 30 times before my knees got really sore from crouching so i gave up.
but thats weird...i guess its timing of whenever i pulled out the xbox IDE cable and applied my PC IDE cable...? Ill keep trying cause i dont feel like chipping it, too much hassel plus i dont know how to soder or anything about electronics

chipping is easy... except on 1.6 boxes... anyways
if you are having trouble Hotswapping then try this.
make sure DVD and HD are plugged in (power and IDE)
1) unplug the DVD IDE cable.
2) boot xbox
3) look @ pretty error screen (HD is unlocked)
4) Quickly "hotswap"
5) Waalaa
I prefer to try this because it gives a larger window of time and you know exactly when to do it...

Ok I got my HD locked...it finally picked it up on xboxhdm, but now I cant reinstall the UDE2 it wont pick it up again
So I went into my MA save, and i cant run any apps cause I get a error 21, I can get into evox but its useless without not being able to run any apps
Now when I go into MA my run linux hack just locks up...i dont know why...
Im gonna try to hotswap it again

ok. the reason none of your apps will run is because they aren't habbi signed.

I really don't but I somehow managed to get it working...I figured out...that when my MA gamesave hack "run linux" doesn't work...then I can hotswap it and reinstall UDE2 and all the other crap...but for some reason I cant get hotswapping to work when my gamesaves do work...it's weird and I notced that unplugging the DVD drive does give u a bigger period of time to hotswap
Anywho...I got it working again, and Im just gonna say screw it to fixing the ms dash, cause thats how it kept messing up. After I install slayers ms dash it just boots directly to my ms dash instead of evox.

The 'key' refers to your HD key and password, which you need to have in order to lock it.
Otherwise, can you read?
