used xboxhdm with UDE installer, installed fine.  but when i first tried to boot the box, gave me an error 6 (cant unlock hd).  so i unlocked it, then it gave me an error 5 (unlocked hd).  what am i doing wrong?  someone please help.  thanks.

the xbox cant boot an unlocked hard drive. hence error 5.
make sure the password you are using to lock it, is correct.

My suggestion is to use xboxhdm v1.9 with your eeprom from your orignal xbox hard drive to make a .iso boot disk. From there use the boot disk to read your hard drive info and make a floppy disk. After that use the floppy disk to automatically lock your hard drive with the keys that are automatically produce by your eeprom file.

im using the exact same 50 digit password for everything, and im still getting error 5 and 6.  i remember reading that the master password was set to xboxscene, and xboxscene, in front of my 50 digit password, is in a log file i have on my floppy.  but i dont know what to do.

like i said, im using the same password over and over, and error over and over.  someone please help.  thanks.

passwords are only 40 digits

well, if you installed ude installer, it automatically makes a back up folder in e called
linux_Backup, it think. it has your eeprom.bin in it. And i think xboxhdm has a file explorer so i would use this to fix it.

but if your key was copied wrong you might be S.O.L.

just put the eeprom.bin from that backup in the eeprom folder in xboxhdm. make a new
boot cd and use the "lock with eeprom on disk" option in xboxhdm.

thats how i would do it.

ive never used live info but my guess is that if its called eeprom.bin then its the one you
need. stick it in the eeprom folder in xboxhdm and make a new iso.

nah, the eeprom.bin that i got from liveinfo (a windows utility) isnt the correct one.  anyone have more ideas?  any way to salvage my drive?  i can lock it and unlock it and install exploits to it, etc, but it wont boot, and i have the password that liveinfo gave me for the drive.  the liveinfo password unlocked it in the first place.

i used atapwd to disable lock/unlock so that when i rebooted my machine to run xboxhdm, my xbox hd wouldnt lock again.  then, once it was done installing UDE exploit, i relocked it, then this string of errors 5 and 6 started.  so, like i said, anyone have any more ideas?  thanks.

a nice sitiuation there.
do you have your eeprom.bin file.

liveinfo doesnt normally generate the correct locking password without it.

you NEED ur eeprom.bin file from ur xbox. you can't get it from anywhere else. the way to do it is to run evox (through gamesave exploit) and run backup, and then ftp ur eeprom.bin file from ur xbox to ur computer.

then you put that file in the eeprom folder in xboxhdm and then when you boot up that cd, choose 3) to go into lock/unlock tools and type 'lockhd -a' to lock ur hard drive.

i hope you didn't try to run xboxhdm using ur original hard drive. im asusming you did it on a new hard drive. so you should still have ur original locked hard drive to put back in ur xbox, boot and run gamesave exploit to go into evox, and then able to get ur eeprom.bin by backup option in evox and FTPing it on ur computer.

yeah if your xbox can no longer unlock your hard drive, you'll need a modchip to boot it unlocked, and to obtain your eeprom.bin so you can lock it correctly.

not unless there was an evox backup in there.

look man, as long as you got your hd key copied right, you can lock and unlock your hd. If i were you i would unlock then lock twice to make sure. Also, you DO know that theres an unlock key, and a seperate lock key right. just making sure. If your key was copied right, your fine. If you copied it wrong, its mod chip time.

Word To The Wise!!!!!! the EEPROM.BIN is VERRY important. As long as you have this, you can ALWAYS restore.
