How are you trying to hotswap?  What has worked best for me is to remove the ide cable from the DVD drive and leave the hard drive connected. Boot the system to the error screen, should be error 12, then hotswap.

Some people have issues and need to do this when the Xbox and MS logo are one the screen.  Try both ways, see what works for you.

are you booting into windows before hotswapping? are you refreshing device manager after hotswapping?

I would hotswap first before bootup of the PC so that the drive is available to the bios (check to see if it's showing on the boot screen) and once windows has started do the hotswap again. When you've done the hot swap again, refresh device manager (you might not use it but windows does). To do this, goto the "control panel" and select "system" and then select the "hardware" tab at the top, click on "device manager" and right click on your computer name at the top of the tree and select "scan for hardware changes"

If you don't remove the ide cable before you get the error screen then normaly the drive will have been locked again (interesting bit about removing the DVD ROM cable, never tried it but may work as the XBOX check the hardware in order). I make sure that I remove the ide cable a couple of seconds before the green blob dissapears.

Thanks for all the replies, but im still stuck at the same thing   I really kno how to hotswap ive done it loads of times, but this is really weird. My Comp detects the drive (Device Manager, Bios(Not even a slow boot, which it normally does when the drive is still locked) But HDD Loader doesnt see it. And ive also tried it with Xlinux a couple of times.
Does anyone have any more ideas?
(I also have a 2nd (WORKING, hacked)XBox which may be usefull????)

if the 2nd xbox is chipped or tsopped you could try hotswapping to that.

Well seems like i got in with Xlinux.... man i hate HDD Driver now Seems like it deleted everything i wanted it to delete (so that part works) But the files i put on the HDD Thru HDD Loader werent on it (so that sucks ) So right now i need to put the font in it and im done ( I HOPE   )

I would recommend doing UDE not fonts......

just download a UDE exploit for a game and use it......

Uhhh He was doin UDE and UDE IS a font exploit.

Lol why cant i do anything right.
Right now i got everything set up ( I think )
C:\xodash\Update.xbe renamed to C:\Xboxdash.xbe
Deleted All fonts
Put right UDE font in C:\ (ONLY bert-5101-01.xtf ,nothing else)


Put Evox on D:

When i boot my xbox now it doesnt give an error message at all, it just sits at the Green X Logo doing nothing. What did i forget?

why don't you try to put ernie.xtf there also

well you were close as you only needed to put ernie.xtf along bert. And I don't know why you put evox on E and not PBL but it might indeed be better for you to use such a program as it does everything for you.

I only find it weird why HDD Loader didnt work :S Ive done it loads of times on other xbox's
