Yeah they probably will but the shitty thing is that I still dont know what went wrong and how to avoid doing it to the new drive. I just dont know what evox set the password to.
I just tried Liveinfo beta 2 and it gave me a different calculated password and I tried it with the dos tools in xboxhdm 1.8 and it still didnt work, it still shows it and locked. Damn! |
Well first off, if evox booted, then you didnt need to lock the drive. As the xbox will not boot an unlocked drive without a modchip.
I booted the new drive in my 1.0 xbox that has a flashed TSOP. The eeprom and hard drive info was from my 1.6
so use the hddinfo.txtx and use the unque hd key and paste that into liveinfo (without the spaces) and select the new hard drive, and this will give you the proper locking key for your v1.6 box.

Also xboxHdm v1.8 isnt compatible with v1.6 box's, you need xboxHdm v1.9.
Thanks for the help but I returned the drive and got a new one. I dont think I will mess with 1.6 drives until it is more ironed out
I'm gonna have to get a new drive too after locking mine. I actually have the same problem, I have the EEPROM and hddkey, but it won't work.
My xbox is soft modded and I have the UDE1 package installed on the original drive. To make sure I don't do this again, do I even need to lock the new hard drive to use it in the xbox?
If I did lock it with hdlock or atapwd etc on the pc, would the xbox even be able to unlock it?
what did you lock it with? I used evox and I tried about 10 different things to unlock it but it wouldnt work. I am too afraid to try it on the replacement drive so I might experiment with another (cheaper) hard drive first.

It was either hdlock or lockhd which were loaded onto a floppy using the xboxhdm installer.
Was yours locked at max security or high? I think that's my problem, its locked at the max setting so its almost impossible to reverse now. Does it lock itself into max security if you try 5 times to enter the password and you fail? I think thats what must of happened. |
STOP USING DOS tools(except ATAPWD for rescue) in the future.
No, the count is only for each power cycle(like the ATM machine not cellphone, 3 consecutive it takes your card, for HD you must power cycle before you can try again). You need to redo it if you exceed 5 times trial, it WOULD NOT change the security setting.
