Hi all,
I purchased my chameleon sometime around july 2003. Sadly, I've spent between then and now, searching for and finally remodeling a home, thus, this is the first occasion I've had to attempt to install the chip. In july of 2003 I had a matrix in my system at which point I removed to give to my brother and ordered myself the chameleon.
Using XP0.13 and various bios downloads, I always get "unknown flash" while trying to write the new bioses to the chip. I've only found a couple of hits in the various forums on this.
I've tried various computer's LPT ports, all of which are running XP.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ken

Yea that is what it will say. You will flash the chip and double check the md5 check sum's The unknow flash is becuase they only had a few cromwells idetified in the xp.exe program. Just flash the bios to the first bank and install it.

So I'm a little unclear on what to do. Do I add the md5 hash to the md5 file and try again, or do I need to locate the 1.8 cromwell file that is listed in the md5 file?
THanks
Ken

no you do not need the md5 for flashing the file for the chameleon. Just flash the file onto the chameleon. The message is just to let you know what file is already on the chip if you hit read or verify after a flash has been done. That message really means nothing really. Just use xp.exe to flash the chip. Disreguard the message unknow.

ussually the modchip is fried when you get that error in my experiaence with the chameleon a unknown flash or unwriteable flash = bad chip most of the time also
if you think your ship is good try a programmer
