yeah i would also like this, of course it wouldn't go into effect until after the bios has booted but it would still be cool. i tried the option within unleash x, but that only works when unleashx is running, same for the fan control.
ldots, or any other really experienced developer, how hard would it be for you to make a commandline bios LED color patcher? It could work like the font patcher, you would type the name of the bios xbe in and then with -colour afterwards being the color of the LED, then it would search through and change instances of green to whatever colour you have selected? would anyone kindly make that for us? |
i found the font patcher quite hard to use lol,
how about a app that can be run on the xbox?
or if editing the bios on the pc is the only way then how about a gui interface so you could also change between colours?
a gui interface would be cool, but it would also require more work and people probably couldn't be arsed to make it. a commandline interace is much easier and quicker to whip up then a win32 application.
btw what made the font patcher hard to use for you? broken keyboard?

broken mouse actually,
EDIT: since you found it so easy, how about sharing with the rest up it a quick tut on ow to use the font patcher
cheers
hell the how does a broken mouse stop you using a command prompt?
if you want to know how to use it, then you can look at the topic made by ldots, it is pretty much self-explanatory. but if you like me soooo much then i can write a tutorial for it tomorrow. not now because i am tired and going to bed.
EDIT: there i whipped up a quick 2 min tutorial, it that doesn't please you then there isn't another tutorial that will.

well if was actually the monitor it kept on flashing...
anyway, wohooo iget myself a tut just 4 me.
cheers total_ass,
p.s. hope we can get back on topic and get some app made for changing led colors!
yeah i made the tut just for you
yeah an app should be made, i mean its something that lots of people want so it should be considered a priority.

see how the bios that came with ltool 1.6.1, the x2 version, it cant be editied in xbtool, so does this mean thatthe led color cant be changed?
p.s. looks like your using x2 bios aswell, let me know your set-up. all default?
im using the 1.7 ltools version, i am using the X2 bios included in that package and i think its the latest version (i always update whenever ldots releases a new version). and yes all of the settings are default.

well update your sig m8!, lol, i alway update my sig wheneve anything is changed but as of now, it is 100% correct.
also, you using pbl metto? in that case you are NOT using x2, yo are using evoxm8 bios which can be edited but NOT in xbtool in evox special bios editor proggy...
yeah i forgot about my sig, i'll update that in a sec.
also i'm using pbl-metoo but i am using the X2 bios, because after you select pbl-metoo, you have the option of choosing between either the X2 or the M8, i chose the X2.

writing like that is just gay man GAY!!
anyway,
explain clearly, im intrested dont really know much about making bioses but continue...
use the correct config for xbtool, open the BFM bios in xbtool, change the LED colors and save it again. simple no? there's a tutorial on here somewhere.

so your saying that the led color of a x2 bios CAN be changed?
how about you could whip up a quick tut for us? (me lol)
just liek total_ass did for me
the LED color of an x2 bios AND evox bios have been possible to change for a long long time, I don't have the debug config right now so I couldn't help you on that.
i am going to look into bios editing, though i have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to bioses, but what the hell i'll give it a shot.
if i can then expect a 'second tutorial for adil786' soon lol.
tutorials for changing led colors? right. The hardes thing on that is adding the rc4 key to the debug config. It would be a three lined tut.
'usual places'
but whenever i try to extract it i get error messages meaning somehow the file has become corrupted. tried downloading it several times. i don't think its a problem on my end being as i've downloaded other files fine before and after it, must be a problem on xbins. i'll try again this evening.
I never got any corrupted files from xbins. I just downloaded 1.0.23 and it works without problems
we are talking about the same xbtool right? the one in pc, bios tools, xbtool? it works for you? damn.
yup used winrar to extract. No errors
Why not get it from the author? http://home.alltel.n...shd/xbtool.html
ive just tried it again and its still not working, i open it and get
The file "" header is corrupt.
The file "" header is corrupt.
Unexpected end of archive
The file "" header is corrupt.
Then i have a blank archive, contains nothing. btw i am also using Winrar.
EDIT: ok thanks PedrosPad ill try that.

You'll still need the config.rar from xbins

strange....really strange....
ok i got xbtool from the site and it works now, thanks pedrospad.
what does the config.rar do and is it necessary?
config.rar contains setups for BFM.. i think...
| QUOTE (total_ass @ Aug 5 2004, 03:51 PM) |

XBTool's config.rar contiains XBTool
configuration settings that can't be distributed other than xbins
I thought it only contained the rc4
so do i just unzip this config archive to the directory that i keep xbtool in?
just unzip it and put the debug config in the root of the xbtool folder replacing the other one.
Read this tut. How to make a bfm bios. After reading this tut, It took me two minutes to modify my bios.
Good luck
hey all,
XBtool_Color_BIOS_Preset_Maker is a really nifty program try it!
also, i want to edit the color of my led,
do i just follow all the steps then ftp into xbox, delte current bios for pbl and replace with edited one?
thanks!
hey all,
i just loaded up the x2 bios default which is in ldots latest release in xbtool and it comes up "kernel extraction failed"
any ideas guys?
thanks
yeah use the debug config.
I edited it on my setup with xbtool. Check the sig. Looks great.
i also edited my led color last night, works great. only downside is that it doesn't kick in until the bios has loaded obviously, which is the downside of exploits.
stages one to four is just a cycle that the led constantly repeats from the moment the bios has loaded. e.g if all four stages are set to green, then it will always appear green. if one is green, two and three are red, and four is orange, then it will appear, green, red (for twice as long), orange, green, red (for twice as long), orange etc. get it?

I think it's a bonus actually. Lets me know EXACTLY when the bios has loaded. Something I like.
hey all,
i got it working at last,
now i have 3 bioses on my xbox, one red, one orange and one default green.
thanks guys, special thanks to "total_ass"
regards
no probs.
because it makes our xboxes unique.
| QUOTE (ldots @ Aug 9 2004, 01:18 PM) |
If you wanted to have the LED switch color slightly earlier you could edit the hacked font to change the color. That should change the color a sec. or two earlier - though I dont understand why you want this |
orange is better than having the default green, makes it look unique like total_ass said,
Uhh I think he meant that he didn't understand the part why you would want it two seconds earlier.
oh rite lol i thought he didn't understand why we would want the LED a different color.
anyway like adil786 said, the green sucks, it gets on your nerves after a while.

oh right,
i think the l.e.d changes at a good time,
just when pbl is loaded and we are running a hacked bios,!
I have mine orange. Red is way much too disturbing
so the orange must be quick.
red is very disturbing.
'red rum, red rum' lol

yup,
i find red is good aswell...
if only we could get blue...
damn
btw in case you didn't know 'red-rum' is from the shining. its where some kid is in a red room and he is writing 'red rum' on the wall, but it appears in the mirror as murder..................oooooooo.............

hmmm,
very long winded,
nothing to do with xbox red l.e.d me thinks lol
yeah lol i know its just when krayzie said 'red is way too much disturbing' it reminded me of it.
you see adil, now that guy has imagination.
| QUOTE (Discwizard @ Aug 10 2004, 02:06 AM) |
| The red l.e.d. makes me think that my Xbox is gonna take over my PS2, PC, DVD Player, etc.!! Like "HAL" on the movie Space Odessy 2000. That ship's PC that took over everything electronic also had a big red circle lighted 'eye'. |
om you win,
im using red led now,
pretty nice,
