Is it ok to have the xbox eeprom set to Region 1 but still have it set in PAL as well?

According to the link above, if you look a few posts back, that is exactly what one of our users has done.

best to own a NTSC US game which can use for exploit..

ie

MA
SplinterCell
oo7

I currently use a NTSC/J MA for ftp initially
after config magic
I use US NTSC Splinter cell , in case shit happens after setting the region to region 1... at least still can have ftp access..

If he owns MechAssault PAL, and its certificate includes US/CANADA and ELSEWHERE he has nothing to worry about. The d:\default.xbe will launch on both region 1 and 4 machines.

how do we check its certificate?

FYI: The NTSC-J MA won't run on Region 1 boxes.

Hi,

to check the certificate, send default.xbe from your MA to PC, then run a tool called xbedump e.g. xbedump default.xbe -dc   will show certificate.  I tried this with my 007 region 4 (PAL) title and it showed the following :

allowed game regions : 0x00000004
XBE_REGION_ELSEWHERE

though i'm still not 100% sure if this means due to the "elsewhere" it may run once converted to region 1, or maybe the 00000004 means it will only run on my xbox while set up to region 4 ??

hope this helps ?

there are three regions 1,2 and 4. Elsewhere is 4, USA/Canada is 1 and Asia is 2.

wink.gif  I may not be able to find exploits or program in any significant degree, but I still feel like giving something back to this awesome community. smile.gif

Thanks once again.
