My chip has been working fine for the past year without problems, but now all of a sudden its not activating when I turn on my xbox.
I opened it up and everything is connected fine. It goes straight to the MS Dashboard but the problem is that my dashboard is corrupted so I get an error message (flashing red and green light) and cant run ANY games.
Is there any way I can fix this? or is my chip shot?
and is there anyway I can at least ftp to my box without the eVox screen or fix the ms dashboard so I can at least play my retail games?

Let me add that the blue light on the chip itself is not even coming on.
I checked the connections inside and everything seems okay.

First off please let me inform you that there are a couple of things that could be wrong here. I will give you the simple trouble shooting info but to be able to give more info I will need you to provide two importaint details.
First are you able to boot up a DVD rom or does it FRAG.
Secoundly how did you install you chameleon mod (pin header solderless or quick solder methoid)
Ok forst of I am assumeing that you have a multimeter and you can test for a connection on the do solder point and the 5th pin down on the oposite side of the TSOP going from top to bottom. Top is the furthest away from the mod chip and the TSOP is the closest chip to the d0 soler point or hook. If you do not have a multimeter or if you can see the d0 not in really good fix the d0 point is where I would start. This would make the light not come on but will boot off the TSOP. Bad news is that a FRAG normaly means the d0 is working but another pin is not on good. I would check the ground next if the d0 is in good shape.

What exactly do you mean by FRAG?
My xbox boots up normally as if it would if I didnt have a chip installed. There doesnt seem to be a problem with the box.
I checked the d0 connection and it seemed to be secure. And no I dont have a multimeter.

Reply to I check the d0 connection and it seems secure. There are three connections that will determin the blue light will come on or not. First is the 3.6 volt conection to the motherboard. Next is the ground and lastly is the d0. If these three connections are good the blue light will come on as long as the chip is still operable. If the other connections are bad and only these three are good then the xbox will FRAG. FRAG is where the xbox will powerup and power down 3 times and then Flash Red And Green.
I will need to know how you have your chip installed before I can suggest anything.
Oh if your getting an error message that will also be helpful.

It DOES flash red and green but it doesnt power down.
And I installed it the pin header method.

Ok I am getting very certaint that the problem is with the ground or the d0 connection. Pin headers are the most reliable way of installing the chameleon. I would resolder the d0 connection first. This should hopefuly solve that problem. I can only thing that if you solve the d0 and the ground then it will work or is dead. But the failure of chameleon chip is really low unless you had to replace your power suply recently. That would triger a red flag and say that if the dvd hdd or the mod chip start acting up then I would think something fried that also.
If you have check everything and all seems really good I would press down pretty good on the chameleon chip with the xbox on and see if the light start to come on.

Ok I checked again and saw that my d0 has been coming loose.
My chip was installed via the solderless adapter, I'm going to test the chip.
Is it wise to test it with the box open?

Yes and if you had told me the solderless install was used you could have saved yourself alot I mean alot of trouble.
the answer is yes you can safly poer on the xbox and test the chameleon mod chip.
