With the programmer connected (new battery) when I scan with XP.exe it just stalls and returns nothing :(. In addition my chip has stopped working on the XBOX, I can't boot from it. Any ideas guys???
Cheers,
Olly.

Well let me ask you settings for the parrellel port.
I know this might be odd but you need to insure the settings for the port is ecp and not epp this has been quite a problem for most people. Then I would change the switches a couple of times this might make a better connection.
To change the settings of your printer port you need to hit del or f1 when you first turn on the computer. In ecp mode you will not be able to print very well so change it back after words.

Brando, a lot of people (including myself) have/had problems with the Matrix and the programmer cooperating... the connection is very touchy. When you flash, be sure to push the Matrix snug against the programmer and hold it there while flashing.
That fixes the problem for just about everyone.

If your matrix is not snug then I would suggest bending the pins on the programer in slightly. this would be the 4 pins on the two outside ends.

Also make sure your battery is giving out the full 9 volts(use a multimeter).I only did 3 reads and 3 flashes and this particular battery was down to 4v,so the flashing operation bleeds down a 9v battery pretty quick.Alternatively you could use a 9v regulator to get a much more stable 9v supply.

Dude you must have a very cheap battery. I have done over 100 writes and reads on my Energizer 9V and it is one year old in December.
