thanks so much for the speedy reply, wiht xbedumplauncher, which button would be the right one? sign for freex, audio, font, or personal signature? also i assume when you mention installing evox, thats just ftping it to my xbox right, would i want it in c: or e:? |
I've never used the xbedumplauncher... I've always stuck to the simplicity of xbedump.
To answer your other question: It doesn't matter. You can install it on both if you like and set it in your bios... that way, if one goes corrupt, you have another to bank on.
But if you don't want to edit your bios just put it in C:
well i was aboot to ask how to edit the bios, but putting it is c without editing sounds good, so all i have to do to finish this is put the signed pbl in e, and dump my evox stuff all in c?

Yes... Make sure you FTP over all of PBL's files and EvoX's files. If you want to edit your bios, use a program callled "XBtool". Make sure evox's *.xbe is named evoxdash.xbe.
so im still having issues, with it not loading past original xbox screen, could it be that the update.xbe file is 1.87mb, the pined post says it should be 1.97, but ive checked the original live disc, splinter cell, unreal championship, and mech warrior, and they are all the 1.87mb
why not use the update.xbe included in the package. Also the one on slayer's should work
package? hmmmm

The correct version is 1974272 bytes = 1.88 mb
The md5sum is a more useful fingerprint. (md5sum = 8ab653c39f555758fb65d9014928c4cd)
ok, so i did have the wrong version, i got slayers evox disc and its the correct update.xbe, but now i get error 21,
is all i do, download pbl, patch it with habibi, and put it in e,
then download evox, and put it in c. is that all without any other modification other than the file namechanges etc listed?

Are you putting the bert_ate_ernie.xtf font file on root C:? Did you rename the fonts folder to f0nts?
yeah, i did everything listed in the walkthrough, the only part i was confused about is what i was asking about earlier, what to do after those steps, but you guys explained it and i thought i was golden. I dont have to modify the bios right, since im just putting evox in my root c drive

Most recent bios shouldn't need editing--they have a link to C:\evoxdash.xbe.
Why don't you just get the package from xbins? As I recall, it already has a signed PBL and it has instructions for the entire process... all you have to provide are evox and update.xbe
i keep hearing of this package at xbins, what is it called, i searched but couldnt find it.
also heres another dumb question, are the 2 bin files included in pbl bios folder good enough or do i need to add more

It's under the Xbox exploit section. Look for UDE and then download the "UltimateDashExploit.rar" file for everything you pretty much need to complete the exploit.
ok, i think im going crazy after working on this all day, ive just spent 30 mins searching http://www.xbins.org/
looking for an exploit section, ude, ultimatedashexploit.rar, and i cant find anything related to any of them, im sorry if im being retarded, but i cant find anything related there, i know i must be missing it, b/c everyone says go there, but i cant find it!
soo after all day i believe it shall work, i never did find that file on xbins thought, that might have made life easier
ok, so now i am happy to report a new issue, what does it mean if it goes to the phoenix animation but freezes right at the end? then if i reboot it freezes after the phoenix logo? thanks so much for the help, i think im almost there
ok, i was using pbl 1.3, and it froze, now im using 1.4.1 and it works, however there are a few issues, it makes me choose the bios each time i load it which is obnoxious, and also it wont go to the m$ dashboard even though i edited the hex to f0nts
thanks so much for the the help
in the evox ini, i renamed m$ dashboard = MODxboxdash.xbe, so now i can get there, so thats taken care of, but does anyone know how i could get pbl 1.3 to work, or make it so i dont have to select my bios each time in 1.4.1
thanks so much again for all the help,
Have you got xboxrom.bin in your bioses directory?
If you have then you may be missing this line in the boot.cfg:
Romfile xboxrom.bin
