I heard a couple games (Crimson Skies... maybe THUG) have problems with PBL - not sure why though..

Anyone know if UDE patches media check?

Yes I know, and no it doesn't - It only patches the M$ key.

Patching the media check is BIOS specific.  I've started looking into this for those poor 5xxx BIOS people, but BIOSes aren't my thing so I've a learning curve to walk.

I noticed that pbl 1.4.1 doesn't like to display in HD at times. On bootup it works out fine but when I launch my DEBUG PBL the screen rolls until it launches it's XBE.

Quick question:

I am trying to downgrade PBL 1.4.1 to 1.3.5i. I downloaded source from the "usual places", patched default.xbe with -habibi, renamed to P with no extension, and replaced the original P supplied by MKJONES only to get the ERROR 21.

Any stepped I missed?

I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you are saying but you stated you renamed your default.xbe to 'P'. Your default.xbe should remain this name.

When I load VGA BFM bioses into 1.3.5i, it freezes at calling 2bl, so I guess thats a drawback, however this is with the regular av pack, dunno about the real vga cable.

are you getting the error straight after bootup or after pressing the phoenix tab?
Maybe you should try replacing all pbl files and not just the default.xbe.(P)

No, I believe both boot.cfg are exactly the same. I compared them using hex editor and the only difference is the sequence of the led flashes in the boot.cfg file.
PBL 1.4.1 = gggg
PBL 1.3.5i = orgg

You seem to be missing the phoenix.raw. I think you might need that. And the layout of the boot.cfg is a bit different I think.

There is no phoenix.raw in PBL 1.3.5i and structure of boot.cfg is exactly the same.

Well than you must have another copy from 1.4.1 cuz mine only counts two of them.
