Title: Easy D0 On Version V1.0 Xbox
Post by: jippie on October 08, 2004, 08:22:00 AM

It has nothing to do with the matrix really, but I have my very first xbox with a Matric mod chip. And now it is starting to have a bad connection with the d0 point.

So I thought why not just solder a wire.

Are there easier places to solder now?

Also for a non solder d0 connection if you have a spare ide 80 pin cable take one wire from them and use a needle to inlargen the hole.  It is called reeming and then you will be able to place the coper wire into the hole snugly.  I have in fact done this over and over again on 1.0 and 1.1 boards I have not needed to do this on any 1.2 boards so I don't know how much reemng you would need to do on them.  I am very taken that there is not a mention in a tut about how perfect 80 pin ide cable wire is so perfect for this stuff.

yes, the spot on the bottom is bigger but, not impossible to fuck up. i know because i did. my first mistake was using a shitty soldering iron, but it was what i had. finally i got the wire on there and somehow, i forget now i moved something and it pulled the wire and it came off--along with the solder point. So i had effectively grounded my d0. for good. i was not happy with myself. i did finally fix this problem with a better iron, i scraped the traces on either side of the point where the solder USED to be, and got a drop of solder to stick to the exposed copper on both sides. but still, it was an embarrasing fuck up.and i had to rig the shit back together. all of this to say, don't say "impossible to fuck up"

Check out Ebay.  32awg wire is best to use.
