Recently I havent seen much innovation in the exploit field. I miss the tech convos between Artifex & Pedros Pad, and testing the new fonts and apps. There literally is nothing left, no new exploits..no innovation in old exploits (did this area get sucked dry by n00bz?).
Please, someone...QUENCH MY THIRST FOR HOT NEW FONTS AND NEW EXPLOITS!

I don't think theres many Exploits Left, guess where have to wait for the Xbox2

I think M$ have capped most of the unlimited variables (so no more stack overflows)

At a guess unless someone spots something funky with how the xbox boot loads it's a no go maybe something with the clock... lol

There are still supprises out there for you though try signing a default.xbe on a disc with -font and watch it boot from startup of the xbox before PBL even kicks in.

NB untested by me but mensioned by others

These exploits remove the media protection from the bios too!

They were fun.  And educational for many (me included).  I'm still lurking around here, and I believe Artifex pops in occasionally, but, I agree, there's just nothing worth responding to.

They say that any new software release just replaces the old familiar bugs with all new unknown ones - There's a new XBOX!Live 3.0 dash due to be released soon.   Virgin exploit territory.

It's not dead - just really, really tired (and possibly hungover).

For me, things are pretty hectic at work, so going home to even more coding isn't that appealing.  I keep saying to myself that I want to do some font work, but I never seem to get around to it.  Also, I just got my virtual hands on a copy of ST.DB that was broken through the A/V problem, so I want to take a look at that (to see how broken it is).

Also, I've finally gotten XDK up!  I was playing around with the gamesave hack, and I found something weird.  If I try to turn off Reset on Eject (using the XKUtils from MXM), it still resets after ejecting halfway.  However, if I try to turn it on, it resets right when you push the eject button.  I also tried turning it on and off after booting from fonts, and some weird things happen.  I think I got it to reset after ejecting halfway somehow, just like in the gamesave.  Strange.

why would i not be suprised that M$ with its billions of dollars and all the public knowledge of xbox loopholes would make an xbox2 that is hacked in a few days by an asian guy at MIT, again, and can be softmodded by newbs looking at websites...

Until there's an exploit that's all advantages and no disadvantages, there's still coding left to be done.

And I sincerely doubt that Microsquish could eliminate ALL of the security holes, especially the ones in games.  Just take a look at Windows (any version) and Windows Update.  It's just a matter of rooting them out.

Me too. When i had a box with:
Pbl with a different loading screen
Hacked Mech-Installer fonts
Customized Unleashx with preview vids
all the ST.DBs and fonts
and all the hottest apps...there was nothing to do. Pirating games was fun with my mod-chipped box ..but with a softmod i find it hard to do and undesireable(because with software, something can always go wrong).

But more to the point,
We all know there is more to be discoverd, wether it be another half assed clock loop solution or another addition of hacked mech fonts that avoid the clock loop all together. I think the font/audio hack still has more potential.

BTW: Pedro, what ever happend to the mech fonts that would manually select the option to launch homebrew code and save my fat ass from pressing down and (A)? I was anxiously awaiting those!

but what about hacks that work with the newer dash/kernals...

i guess we will have to wait and see where M$ slipped up with these new versions..

one of these days i might switch off using PBL and boot straight into evox, but I dont want to go about signing all 50 something xbe's on my hard disk

would be cool if there was some automated way to have it ftp all the xbe's to my pc, sign them with -font, and ftp them back

Before PBL, and it's loading of a replacement BIOS with all signature checks disabled, all XBEs had to signed with the same key (font or audio).   There nothing to prevent anyone doing this still today (and I understand that this improves compatibility with XIII, Crimson Skies, etc.)

but i like pbl makes life so easy i have IIX didnt work at first but then i got a patch 4 the default.xbe cant some1 point me in the right IRC plz untill all games need this il stick with PBL
