| One more thing: You can only load these newer BIOS files if you use Phoenix BIOS Loader 1.3.5i. It won't work with 1.3. The version you want comes with bg.jpg, font.jpg and phoenix2d_logo1.jpg. The older version 1.3 comes with phoenix.raw. |
I read in another post that you can indeed use PBL 1.3 all you have to do is simply rename the bios you want to use to xboxrom.bin . If ya ask me 1.3 is easier to get set up.
Well, if you say so. I've tried it on an older Xbox (K 4034 or so) and newer ones didn't work with 1.3. Only X2 4977 worked. I've also heard several people here say that it won't load newer BIOS files.
Hey, I wonder if it has anything to do with XBtool? There are multiple versions that sometimes can't read files made by each other. For instance, I edited X2 4977 with XBtool 1.0.5 and couldn't open it again with 1.0.12 (but a "fresh" version worked).
And 1.3.5i doesn't fix the flickering. It only fixes the flickering after PBL is loaded, and it only does that because it lets you use newer BIOS files (or so they say).
Are you sure you don't already have 1.3.5i? You can't even see the screen to check. What files were included?
Also, you can name the BIOS files to anything you want, as long as you edit the boot.cfg properly. It's just that the default is xboxrom.bin.
BTW, you can shorten down your PBL time by editing the boot.cfg file too. Just set debug to true, and set delay to 0. Setting debug to true simply makes it skip the logo (this works in 1.3 too). The delay is for the time that it displays "Press A for selection menu" (which is only in 1.3.5i).
Hey Grospolina, that worked like a charm.
I set "Timeout 0" and "Debug true", and Phoenix loaded instantly.
hi,
I got the same problem with the flickering. When I boot my xbox the animation comes, then starts phoenix which flickers like hell, after that I see EvoX but it flickers so much that is isn't possible to do anything. I tried all of the things you said before in the thread but I still haven't got it to work. This is my situation:
-I have a v1.4/1.5 xbox
-I can ftp between my pc and my xbox
-PBL1.3.5i stored in the root of my xbox (c:\)
-Bigfonts stored in c:\fonts and the other 2 files renamed
-xboxdash.xbe editted (all xft to xtf) and saved to xftdash.xbe in root
-evox m7 BFM (don't know 4 sure if it's made properly, cause I don't know how. I just picked m7 and ticked BFM flag)
-I used the RC4 code from PBL1.3, cause I couldn't another
-EEPROMKey1_0 and EEpromkey1_1 are left 0x00 etc.
-Timeout 0 (in boot.cfg)
-Debug true (also in boot.cfg)
-default.xbe in root signed as -font (with eazsign)
-I tried setting my xbox to NTSC with Enigma Video switcher but that makes the flickering even worse.
Please help me with this, I tried 10 hours non-stop to fix this but without any results.
thnx,
Bun
BTW, i've got a PAL-xbox, Pal60 is off
Im trying to mod a 1.4/1.5 XBOX version as well using Mord's installer(V3). I get the save game on the HD and i boot it with AUF and i get the flickering screen in which i can barely recognise the Phoenix logo. After that i get a flickering black screen. Anyone got a clue as too what i can do to soft mod my xbox?
sounds like phoenix got stuck like it failed to load a bios
i am not sure as I've never used an audio hack or mordens.. you might give the fonts a try, I've never had a problem

i modded my 1.5 the same way. booted to the MA gamesave and it was all scrambled. you can still ftp to your box from there. either set your evox.ini in the gamesave to static ip, or just blindly ftp w/ dhcp. as soon as you can ftp to your box you can put the exploits on. just remember to use a bios compatible w/ the focus chip. i used the 4981.06_bfm bios.
Ok If I get the proper bios were do I put it. Does it go in MXM or Phoenix I dont know where?
Pheonix in the bios folder
So even without a mod chip u can flash the bios with the one u select? When I do that to the ones it came with it was just black after i selected it
What can I do to get mxm to still load up then
sign the xbe to the exploit your using (fonts right)
and then replace the PBL xbbe with the MXM one ... i.e. rename the MXM xbe
You will have to subsequently sign all xbe's you wish to load after that
Im using mordens audio hack and I need to find a way around this damn PBL
If you can't use morden's dont use it. I'm sure you could adjust the gamesave to not install or use pbl but it might not be that easy. Why don't you just install all the needed files manually with a normal evo-x gamesave.
